Okay, let me lay down the truth that we all know. Walmart's aren't too fancy, aren't usually as ghetto as exaggerated either. They are usually nothing more then a shopping mart you go to pick some ingredients for dinner, and end up waking out of with new curtains, 300 dollars worth of food, and other unnecessary seasonal odds&ends and seasonal decor. Right? And so if it's 6:30pm on a Friday night and you need groceries, you pull up Yelp and see there is a nearby Walmart, your instinct reaction is probably to go to that Walmart it says is down the road from where you're at, and boom - you get what you need. Right? Wrong. This Walmart is the dictionary definition of poor management and care, ghetto, weird-os and other things you see about Walmart rednecks when you scroll through your Facebook or Insta feed. But don't worry -- there is a super nice Walmart that's not too, too far from here either. It's in a town called Pittston, or if you want to get technical, it's in Yatesville. There is so much better of an experience there and it's better taken care off. Go there instead. It's safer & much more convenient and only fifteen/twenty ish minutes up the road. Go check it out, don't go here. It's uncomfortable and not a good environment to be in. read more

Calling Walmart in Wilkes-Barre and expecting them to answer is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree and expecting it to stick. They NEVER answer the phone, no matter what department you press. Their delivery "service" is abysmal as well. Never deliver when they say. This has become wilkes= barrio walmart for all intents & purposes. Now that most sections of "self check out' have been re-tooled as 'cashier assisted' lanes like before, the lines are excruciatingly long. The long lines are ONLY exacerbated in agonizing lengths by the "newcomers" who must use their phones for translation and transaction purposes-before a front end associate RE-directs them to customer service. I haven't been in Wall-Mart since I retired. I enjoyed working there. The customers I had were very nice and always treated me with respect. I never had any problems with them. My co-workers were great. I know there are a lot of changes since I was there. I don't drive anymore. Our garage and property that was not attached to our home caught on fire. Nothing could be saved. My car and 2 others. I didn't want to buy a new car or get insurance. Thank the Lord no one was hurt and my Granddaughter was born the same night. read more

They put up concrete barriers so the truck drivers can't park here which is really ridiculous and hypocritical because the truck drivers deliver their freight plus they buy a lot of products. I like everything under one roof. Since the store has changed, it takes longer to shop. The checkouts are horrible. Self checkouts stink. There's not enough room,the cart should be on the left. If we need help we have to wait so why not just have an employee at the register. I was told today that it's not usually that bad, not. I tried to use my EBT, which I had money on, came up "0". If I just checked out, I'm not stopping on the way out,I'm not a criminal. I was so worried about lines, I forgot stuff. Plus I had people just walk in front of me and cut me off. was missing two items from my order, called and was told to just bring the receipt in. I live a good distance away, so I did not get back until a few days later. showed my receipt ay customer service and they had me wait for 10 or 15 minutes, the person behind the counter told me the items were in the bag. I asked to talk to the store manager, waited a few minutes more. A man appeared with his cell phone to show me the items in a bag, told me maybe they fell out in my car, never told me his name or position at the store, and just walked off! I checked my car for the items but found nothing, I guess they just upped and walked away! I'll never step foot in this Wilkes Barre Walmart again, nor will any member from my family. It's a Wal-Mart like any other. Are there better shopping experiences? Yes. Are there worse? Probably maybe. Stopping in on a weeknight after the dinner hour, I needed four things. I found them without difficulty. The jeans were a bit of a mess, but they had the color and cut that I wanted in the size that I wanted. The other items were easy to locate even if those shelves could also use a good leveling. There was a line of two or three customers each at a couple of the registers, but the self-checkout had no queue and I was able to walk right up. Is it A-OK? Well, I've experienced better. read more

My local Walmart is far worse than this because it has no competition, but during my latest experience here I saw two different stores compared to other visits. To start, the entrance and exit of the complex is a mess. They badly needed to have two fully signaled entrance and exits. First, this store is not open 24 hours, for understandable reasons. When you come here on a well-lit Sunday afternoon, it's a family store full of people shopping, and a tolerable experience. Come here during a weeknight in the evening after it's turned dark? Skip it unless you have a group. The demographics for this store change significantly and it feels much less safe, and this also includes the employees who work during those times. The store layout is slightly different than other Walmart Supercenters, as it feels slightly smaller and more crowded in some ways. Stock can also vary, but that's with every Walmart as they chronically understock. Is the whole area bad? No, it's a nicely built up shopping area. Walmart has the problems Wyoming Valley Mall had before it's renovation in 2007, the wrong demographic. More lighting and security are needed or you can also just go to Target instead. read more

It's Walmart - you shop here for the cheaper prices on items that you would otherwise spend more on at other "classier" stores. So if saving money is a big deal to you, just pick the right time of day/month to go, use common sense, try not to look any strangers directly in the eye and you'll be fine (lol). A stun gun and/or pepper spray may come in handy. I try to avoid the 1st and 15th of the month, as the shelves will be pretty much empty at these times and you probably won't be able to get everything you came for. Walmart Wilkes-Barre has just changed over to 22 TWENTY TWO self checkouts. There are only 4 FOUR registers left. This area has a large population of older people. Tonight they only had 3 registers open, with lines of people backed up into the aisles of merchandise. I asked them to open another line but they didn't. I've worked 53 years. I don't go shopping to go to work. I don't need to work to buy things at Walmart. Target is only 2 miles away. Kmart is about 6. Wegmans is 1 mile. Price Chopper is 4. Amazon delivers free right to my door. WALMART....WE DON'T NEED YOU. Waiting 20 minutes now for someone with a key to unlock the cabinet that holds the beard trimmers. Asked an employee..they disappeared for 5 minutes and then told me to go to customer service to have them unlock it. Did that...they dont have a key...but will have someone with a key come over. I moved out here from New York and was happy to live near a Walmart since i hear Walmart has cheap prices. But I'm far from happy. No problems with the employees i mainly go to self check out anyway. Every time i go in there i cant find the food that i need. Shelves are empty to the max and i used to go every week and It never looked like It was restocked that much. The produce aisle isn't good, not many fresh fruits and they don't last once you buy them. Meat section is non existent only thing you can find is some ground beef. Same thing with the ham and salami section. I went for the cases of eggs which went from $6 and gradually went up to almost $9. (I know that's not Walmarts fault) but if that's the case then i really have no other business shopping there. I know price chopper and other supermarkets are more expensive but i would rather pay for more varieties and fresh produce. read more

This is a review of the Yatesville/Pittston Walmart. The employees are so rude. I have been shopping here for 18 months and has so far NEVER been served by the deli staff. Any time I approach the counter, they all turn their backs to the customers, even though they see me. They pretend to be doing something else, or purposely walk away. I really can't tell how I feel about this Walmart. Yeah, it's got it's differences (in that the Customer Service and MoneyCenter location are two different locations inside the store unlike most other Walmarts in nearby states), but it's got the same things that all Walmarts stand for. I was in there for some knick-knacks from our trip (T-shirts and one person even got a cheap Vivitar Bluetooth speaker he felt he needed) and must have health care items (such as some cough drops due to what we later would learn was a viral infection that caused his voice to sound raspy and hoarse), and never once were warmly greeted - not like we would really have needed to ask. I don't generally rate Walmarts like this as low as I've rated this one, though I've seen some weird ones in my time. But this one was like no other one out there. It was just "awkward". For the employee at the register, the transaction moved rather smoothly and caused not to be any problem. We ended up going to an express lane near the one set of self checkouts on July 4th. The store wasn't as crowded as you'd think at 3pm on the day - several hours before the fireworks were supposed to start - the aisles moved with people but that move isn't explained by the term "mob" (like most stores end up happening on July 4th). read more

I placed a grocery pickup order on the 12th of December. I have yet to receive my refunded money for items that are out of stock! I have called customer care several times..(i.e 10 times) to correct the issue and they are completely useless. They have told me several times that the issue would be corrected, they would escalate my issue, and that they would have a manager contact me back. None of these things happened and I am still out over 100 dollars in out of stock items! This is completely unacceptable given the current times we are in and even more so for a big cooperation like Walmart! Purchased a monitor for my PC. I asked in the electronics dept if it had a hdmi cable and was told "everything you need is in the box". When I unpacked it, there was only a VGA. I dread going to our Wal-Mart. The parking lot is horrendously designed. The store is large and generally has a lot of product on the shelves, but my biggest qualm about this Wal-Mart is that there is hardly anyone ever on the registers. Often you see maybe 10 out of over 40 registers open and the lines are often nearly a dozen people deep. You will average at least a good 10-15 minuets waiting in line. read more
