My daughters have been attending Walnut Park Elementary since Pre-K. I currently have a 5th grader and a kindergarten. I've never experienced anything bad. Ever since Ms. Luna became the new principal a lot of good changes have happened. She truly has made a difference. From creating the valet car for dropping off students in the mornings to having the after school program STEM where they create robots and compete against other schools. This motivates students to be involve in activities. If parents don't have the time to take them, they manage somehow to find the time to take them. I appreciate the effort! As far as teachers they're all have been great teachers! Just to mention a few Ms. Rodriguez, Ms. Castillo, Ms. Torres, Ms. Rosas, and Ms. Reedy. They've done a great job in teaching my daughters. Good amount of homework given. Field trips have been great. My daughters have been happy so far. Office staff, not the greatest but they try their best! I believe they can be better and more organized. I understand it can be insane speaking to over 50 parents a day just with 2 staff members. The school nurse is on point. Always calling me with any issues when my daughters go to the nurse's office. read more

My 3 sons have been attending Walnut Park for 6 years now (starting in Pre-K) and I love the teachers and especially Mrs. Luna! They have so much patience and are all really great with the students. They have everything at this school, my 2nd grader needed speech therapy for a couple of years and it really helped him, the staff is really good about seeing that the students needs are met. They have a dual language program for the kids who can benefit from that and hey work so hard to keep the parents updated, informed, and involved! Thank you Walnut Park for all you do for kids! *as for the comment about 1 office staff assisting 10 parents and the long wait time...that happens every morning to the parents who can't get their kids to school on time, so yes, after 8am there is a line to get your kid checked in because the gates close promptly at 8 am, when the bell rings. But other than that, the office staff is quick to assist each parent as they walk in. read more

Teachers are great! They just need more people in the office. There is usually one person helping 10 parents and it could be frustrating if you're on a timed schedule/ busy day. read more

This school always has a special place in my heart. This is where I went and now this is where my daughter goes. My daughter is in Pre-K and the teachers are nice and work hard with the students. I like how the school let's parents be hands on if they wish to. The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is that, they say you have to have an ID when you pick up your child and only people on the emergency card can . But when my Father picked up my daughter they didn't ask for any identification and just let her go with him. Witch is fine but what if theirs people parents don't want their kids to see. ... that needs to be in forced better read more

No sense of direction where he could go to start and complete his senior year. Then it was turned around saying that it was my child who was hiding things and correspondence. My son changed the three years he was there. His confidence deteriorated. Later I found out that there was a lot of favoritism when it come to certain students, especially the "star" athletes. They would get away with bullying other students and people would look the other way. Ever wonder how Verbum Dei keeps its high percentage of college acceptances? They kick out their lower performing students without proper guidance nor sense of direction, not even providing resources for parents to further support the student. My son's mental health deteriorated and much counseling was needed afterwards. We were left dissatisfied and disappointed because we sacrificed a lot to send our son to school, working multiple jobs even though the work study program partially helped. We thought we were doing our son a favor, when in reality it was a disservice. If you decide to enroll your son at this institution, be ready to keep track of everything because you will get told last minute that your volunteering contributions were not "complete," even when some of the office staff would say that no sign is was required because they already tracked it for you...
