We found that interviewing contractors for the job was stressful: costs were not disclosed up front and none gave us the feeling that we could trust them to deal with us fairly. So, it turned out to be a welcome pleasure to deal with Broadway Kitchen and Bath's owner, Jeff Chinman. From the beginning, he was honest and forthcoming about all aspects of the renovation. He really is a gem: a NYC vendor for many years who really has the customer's best interests in mind. While the showroom is unimpressive, it turns out that everything ordered through them turned out to be of good quality and reasonably priced. As various unexpected expenses were incurred, additional charges were also handled in a fair manner. At times when another contractor might have taken the easy way out on some aspect of the job, we found that Jeff would listen to our concerns and would try to find a solution that would satisfy us. No cutting corners! The two associates who were assigned to our job were terrific: Jimmy and Oscar. They managed to be as unobtrusive as they could be (e.g., cutting wood out on our balcony even in the bitter cold to minimize dust and noise). Would I hire them again? YES, absolutely. Did they meet expectations? YES, over and above.

Well, he never returned and we called MANY times... they have not answered our requests to come back and do the staining as promised in the fall. He changed every door in the house to solid six panel doors and assisted in the family room and office built in by installing them. He build the most incredible custom walk in closet converting a bedroom into a spectacular use of space. The most recent improvement was the replacement of our gas water heaters since the old ones were starting to leak. He has installed whole house water filtration, added instant hot and a garbage disposal making sure we have all the modern conveniences a home should have. He treats our home as if it is his own. There was a manufacturer issue with the cabinets & they contacted them immediately. Then came to our home with someone from the manufacturer to point out the issues & make sure they were resolved. And this was after we paid them in full. Fast forward to today & they came to our home to resolve an issue with one of the cabinet pulls within 24 hours of calling them to explain what happened. He took the time to educate us about our floors, their current state and what had been done previously, what was "repairable" and what was not. We determined the floors on the first floor were refinish-able while upstairs required replacement. Dave suggested replacing the upstairs hallway now and doing the bedrooms later to save money. The new white oak was matched to the downstairs floor (different species) and antique staircase. Our refinished 115 year old floors stop people in their tracks -- they are stunning. Every single person who enters has commented on them. We could not be more pleased. Dave (and Travis) were a pleasure to work with, always detailed in explanation, quick to return phone calls or texts and always on time. Also, our floors were done in one week.
