It takes about an hour to walk the whole circumference. However you can just go directly tho the areas that interest you. There is a beautiful duck pond with an enormous willow tree overhanging in to the water. Sometimes you can spot turtles in the water too. They have a little cafe in the park that sells great coffee. I am told that they are building a better one nearby. This park is popular with kids on bicycles during the summer and can get quite busy. The only thing that Cedars Park lacks is a forest area. Much of the park is open grassland with trees scattered here and there.

A personal trainer is always on hand for a bit of advice if you need it and sessions can be arranged with them for some serious workouts! The swimming pool is brilliant although there is not a lot of pool time available due to the sheer number of swimming lessons that go on here, however great for parents who wish to get hteir child into swimming lessons. During the winter there is an indoor ice rink which is great value and sessions can be booked in advance. The bar is good value and there are some healthy eating type vending machines in the lobby which dispense nuts and raisins and healthier snacks, along with the standard machines that you can eat junk from Wet changing rooms for the pool are always clean and i regular see the floors being washed down. Plenty of cubicles although they are small, and all showers are openplan which hinders privacy if you like to shower naked. There are a range of classes available including yoga,pilates and standard aerobic activities. Reception staff are generally friendly but phoning is a little hit and miss.

Forty Hall is a manor house that was built in 1620's for Sir Nicholas Rainton, one time Lord Mayor of London. It's an imposing pile set in acres of public parkland. The collections concentrate on the history of Enfield, with a particular focus on everyday objects. So there's an incredible amount of pottery and ceramics from the 17th and 18th centuries. Of particular interest to me are the Roman pottery and glass from excavations in the borough. Now to some people Enfield is the back end of nowhere, but this fantastic borough has some seriously enthralling history and it's well reflected in the museum. Romans once probably stomped their way through places where I now get stuck in traffic, and Queen Elizabeth 1 was partial to the occasional visit. It's believed she stayed at Elsyng Palace; its site is located within Forty Hill. Excavations from that site can also be seen in the museum. As much as I love poking my nose round museums they can become a little tiring after a while. There's only so much information that my tiny brain can absorb. But at Forty Hall I've toured the collections in two halves - with a healthy interval spent strolling round the beautiful grounds. It really is a superb place to visit.

The total area of the park is 18.3 acres and includes a walking trail, a pond, a children's play area and picnic tables. And it's beautiful! There's a gorgeous weeping willow near the pond and the footpath to the pond is lined with daffodils. There are always ducks and geese on the pond and there's a rarely a day that I don't see families feeding bread to the ducks. Barclay Park is a very popular place for dogs; we encounter many of them every time we take a trip there. There's lots of open space for dogs to run around and play and a creek for them to swim in.

This place is well hidden, but well worth the detour if you are after a quiet stroll and some peace…read moreand quiet. The car park used to be free, but they have recently installed pay-and-display, so be careful you don't get caught out with these new charges. They do have a lovely cafe that does some nice home made cakes and simple food, and a wonderful enclosed courtyard where you can sit outside in the fresh air. There are even a few plant stalls in the courtyard selling some of the plants you'll see in the gardens, a very nice touch. Another non-garden element worth noting are the toilets. Very clean, easy access and even a baby changing area - nicely done, and well appreciated. As for the gardens, they were featured on Gardeners World in 2014 for their Daffodil and bluebell meadow, so that is worth jaunt to see, and they also have quite a large and ornate veg patch that is beautiful in Spring and Summer - see the picture of the covered runner bean tunnel. Nice ponds, chicken coops, trellised areas etc. A lovely place for a day in the slow lane.
