So when 100 people try to bottle neck to the 4 available turnstiles it is pure chaos. People were cutting in from the sides and everybody was stepping on each other's skis and snowboards. 3 simple ropes could have helped the situation creating lines for organization. -Snow cover was fine, BUT there were certain areas in the middle of the piste that had rocks coming through and they weren't marked. I was so fed up that I grabbed one of the loose fist-sized jagged stones and brought it to the kassa saying it was dangerous to not mark the rocky areas. The lady pretty much blew me off giving me that's the way it is without even acknowledging the problem and rudely telling me to turn in the cards at the automat next time instead of at the window(no way I will go back there so it's not important to know). Not only do my new skis look 100 days old after only 3 days but unmarked rocks like that can seriously injure someone. -Also the only time I saw anybody from ski patrol they were bringing down injured people in the sled(also helicopter). -Definitely go by car on the weekend as the ski shuttle is PACKED! It only comes every 30 min. (not always on time, but it's free!) Bottom line- The Mountain itself has a lot of potential. Just remember to bring A LOT of patience and your rock skis and you're good to go.

The staff was super kind and the animals were so cute! I never saw so many baby animals until today! The animals definitely seem happy here with the big spaces.

And it's worth visiting Schwangu and the lake in their own right, if you want to stay near Neuschwanstein and see a little/a lot of cool nature. Alpsee is nestled in the foothills of the Alps, so your view will be breathtaking as you stand on the shoreline of the lake, looking at the behemoth mountains! The water is crystal clear, so you can see the rocks and shoal right through the surface. It's heralded as one of the cleanest lakes in Germany. There are swans and other fowl that like to lay claim to Alpsee and they also make for great photos as they glide across the pristine water. There are boats available for rent, great swimming spots in the lake, and hiking trails all around Alpsee. So it's not just Insta-worthy here, there's also a ton to do and see. So definitely don't skip over Alpsee on your Bavarian adventure!

Want a thrill? How about a 120k/h ride down THE Olympic bobsled track...it is unreal!…read more Just outside Iglis (a few minutes from Innsbruck) is the 1964 and 1976 Olympic bobsled run. You can ride with a professional driver and rear-seater + 2 guests on each bobsled. My daughter and I took the plunge and will never forget the thrill of hitting the banked curves at such high speeds. By the latter part of the track you can hardly see as you hit turn after turn...how can the driver possibly navigate the twists and turns so well? As the bumper stick so aptly says...Get In, Hold On, Shut Up! There are 2 versions you can do: (1) the Guest Bobsled or the (2) Taxibobsled. The "Guest" starts lower and goes slower and (2) the "Taxi" starts higher at the real Olympic starting line. You can make reservations way in advance. We did not. We just showed up (maybe lucky) and paid our 90 euro each and received our numbers and were told to show back up at the track in 30 minutes. While you wait there is a very nice restaurant right there serving great food and beverages. Try a nice Radler on tap while you wait!! A crowd of 30 of us from all over the world were waiting and they marched us up a road and put us in the back of what felt like at WWII troup transport truck with wood sides and a canvas top. After being driven up a windy road to the top of the track we were unloaded. The truck immediately departed and showed back up a few minutes later with 2 bobsleds for the first 4 guests. In between each 2 bobsleds we were surprised to see the Romainian team come out to do their practice runs as our bobsleds were fetched by the troup-truck. It took a while to get through all the guests, but the staff was well organized and efficient. Most "things" we do on vacation are quite fun but can be done many other places around the world. Olympic bobsledding was a real treat. This ride was one of the highlights of an already memorable Christmastime trip to Innsbruck.

It was one of the coldest days, we caught a bus to the Olympic stadium and went back behind the…read morejumps. It was beautiful, cold and a nice hike to the top. It took us about an hour to climb to the top. It was extremely icy and very bitterly cold that day, but it was so much fun and the scenery was beautiful.
