All the beans have been fresh (about a week off roast) when I've visited, and the owner is clearly interested and knowledgeable when it comes to coffee. Really friendly atmosphere and you can tell people enjoy hanging out here. The vinyl selection is really good for this kind of place and they play a lot of good music. Great place to sit down and hang out, but also excellent for takeout coffee.

All soaps are lavishly scented and produce thick and luxurious suds. I have very sensitive skin and the soaps made at TM are one of the few I can use -likely because they're made with premium ingredients that DO NOT include sulfates and parabens. The Queen soaps are my very favorite. They're a premium hand-poured soap made with milk -these scents are trademark Tautra and indescribably pumped full of amazingness. If you are visiting Tautra for the day, make sure to stop into the monastery (http://tautramariakloster.no/) nearby. Services throughout the day welcome visitors from all backgrounds. The monastery and boutique are a must see. There are quite a few other places on the island to visit as well! Stop in! You won't regret it!

Unwelcoming and Disappointing Service…read more This café is in a beautiful location right next to Nidaros Cathedral, making it an ideal place to enjoy a coffee. Unfortunately, the service is unwelcoming and, frankly, unacceptable. My friends and I (architecture students) visited, hoping to enjoy the space while working on school projects. The café was nearly empty--only one other table occupied upstairs--yet we were met with hostile looks from one of the staff members. Eventually, she told us to leave, not because working there was not allowed (we saw no signs stating this, nor were we informed of such a rule), but simply because we "did not spend enough money," even though we had purchased drinks. Given the overpriced and poorly made coffee, this felt especially unfair. This is not the first time I've been here, and I've heard similar stories about the same staff member being rude to others. It's especially frustrating because my friends are international and were speaking English, yet she refused to speak English to them, even though I (a Norwegian speaker) was present. The entire interaction made it clear we were not welcome. It's a shame because another staff member was kind, and I feel bad for anyone working in such an unaccepting environment. A café in such a historic and important location should be a place that welcomes all guests, not one that makes people feel excluded or unwanted. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who expects to be treated with basic respect.

Kids' toys? They've got them all, and much more. And as a plus, everything's really affordably priced (even for Norway!) Just be careful: the supply can change frequently, so if you see something you like--get it! They may not have it the next time you're there.

The street is lovely and the views from the Old Town Bridge of the Nidelva river are the ones you see on all of the postcards. This is an area to spend some time in - lots of little stuff to see and great place to jump off to. The old town is close and the Cathedral is just over the River. Loads of restaurants and stuff to do very close by.
