My family has been blessed to have five family members living at Warm Hearth Village. As three of those family members reached end of life, they were cared for with the utmost dignity and love. The staff across the village are the very best. One family member lives in a village townhouse now and another in the housing neighborhood. Both are extremely satisfied with the planned activities, facilities available, maintenance, food services, and their neighbors. Because of the high standard of excellence, there is a long waitlist to be a resident. Plan early for retirement at Warm Hearth Village by getting on the waitlist before you feel ready. If a unit becomes available and you're not ready then you can always pass. My family loves the Warm Hearth Village community and cannot say enough good things about them. read more

Basically, a dump. Buildings and interiors are dated (do you like '80s brown and tan?), common spaces smell damp, and essential walkways are poorly maintained during winter. Neighbors are unrelentingly nosy, and staff are callous and disengaged. Pricing is confusing (intentionally?) requiring a big deposit which then erodes as the years pass. Buy a condo and pay for services; avoid this sort of scam. read more

The independent living housing is very outdated and the repair crew is not very good and well under staffed, they have a tendency to update areas that are higher priced but have to be asked much to much and don't seem to have a structured schedule remaining read more

After seeing and hearing about the for profit agencies in the area, I am a big fan of Warm Hearth. Some of the units have a bit of wear (built in the 70's), but the staff are the important part. Some of those working in the assisted living (Showalter) have been there for 10 years or more. Others have come from some of the for profit local places, and said they are never going back - that they never were given the time to get to know and help the residents there, but that they felt that they could here. If you are in one of the independent living units, you are given the freedom to be independent, which I value. Maintenance responds quickly, but other than that you are about as free to live as if you were in your own home. A relative spent over 5 years in Showalter (assisted living), and thought she was well treated, and when she passed you could tell that the staff really and truly missed her. Main negative re Showalter is that the food is standard commercial (Sysco, I believe), which means it could be better. read more

I volunteer here and I am amazed by the layout the center. There are different levels for people to live in. The volunteer/staff are very welcoming and nice to be around and there are a lot of activities for the elderly to do like BINGO. read more

Do your research before selecting and purchasing a unit for a loved one at the "non-profit" Warm Hearth Village. They talk a good game, but in fact--there is minimal care or oversight. A residents can end up living in squalor amidst piles of hoarded junk, while WHV callous staff quite literally chuckle about his or her living conditions. Meanwhile the resident's initial "investment" erodes for a decade, while simultaneously the resident is paying the high fees due monthly to the "non-profit village". THINK TWICE and move once. Evaluate other options (like a condominium, which will not LOSE money and likely has lower fees). AVOID this place. read more
