I love this surprisingly good community resource in what is basically a smallish rural university town. (Full disclosure: I once taught a crafts workshop here, so I'm technically a contract employee of Warrensburg Parks & Rec, but haven't had an active connection with them for a few years.) The facility was built in the last decade, so everything is still relatively new & fresh-looking. They offer A LOT here: 1. Full-sized indoor competition pool, home of the Piranhas swim team 2. A big water slide! 3. A large indoor play-pool for the little ones 4. Senior center, with a full range of activities & a meal program 5. Party rooms to rent. Had a kid's birthday party here once, they were very helpful about set-up and all that. 6. Full-sized indoor basketball court 7. Indoor climate-controlled track (about 1/10 mi) 8. Large & well-equipped weight room with treadmills, ellipticals, etc. 9. An extensive calendar of fitness classes (aerobics to Zumba) 10. Lots of evening craft classes, workshops, adult-activity classes, etc. I once took a six-week ballroom dance class here & had a blast. Many of these things are free with your WCC ID; others are just a few bucks. Ask at the front desk. The track is free; weight room is $2 per use; pool is $3. You can also get monthly passes for most things. Cost of classes vary but everything I've looked at seems reasonable. read more

It's a great resource for our small community. The indoor and outdoor pools are great. The indoor pool has a big slide and a small lazy river and play area for the toddlers and younger kids. It also has a large pool for lap swimming which they keep at a great warmer temperature. They have a family dressing room which is nice. The outdoor pool has a huge play area and beach entrance for the kids, plus a big pool and a nice lazy river. If I remember correctly it's $5 for the pool, but if you go in the evenings after 5, it's half price. They also have lots of activities for kids that we take advantage of such as kids night in, swim camp, all sports, Easter egg hunts, etc. The prices are extremely reasonable. The kids night in is the first Friday of the month and costs only $10 which includes pizza and swimming from 5:30-10:00, can't pay a babysitter for that amount plus they have so much more fun. The sports (3-6 age) run about $35 for the ones we've played: t-ball, basketball and soccer all which include a t-shirt. We also had a birthday party there which was a lot of fun. The rooms to rent was $19 an hour plus we had to pay the entrance fee to the pool for the kids (I think it was about $4 or $5 each). I love this community center! My grandchildren and I moved here 8 years ago and the center was a lifesaver. The were in the day camp program for 6 years. All 3 played in the basketball program which is great. I just read one complaint on that but I have to say it sounds like sour grapes. My grand daughters are on one of those teams and they have worked their butts off and have developed a true team spirit. Mixing them up every year will not allow that. They are at the top of the age bracket so when playing younger children it happens. Don't forget they were once the youngest. I go to Aquacise in the mornings and it is the only exercise routine I have stuck with. Nassiff pool is one of the best things this town has done. I can't say good enough things about this community center. It has something for everyone from seniors to toddlers and the price is right! read more

First of all the facilities are great! But, I don't use the community center for those. To start off for anyone who plans on having their kids play a sport for them don't expect a fair league with sportsmanship. They let returning coaches continue to coach the following year so they may have an entire team that's been together for 6 years from 1-2nd grade all the way to 6-8th grade. By doing this it puts these teams at a huge advantage against new teams thus creating an unfair league. By doing this there will be a few teams with no wins because they have the bottom of the batch kids who won't stand a chance against teams that have been together for years. It's not fair to the kids, the parents, and the coach of that team. Every player should be up for draft besides the coaches own child to make a balanced league. All these kids should be mixed up each year because they will be working together once they play for the schools. By doing this it segregates them when they actually become teammates later. Also in older age groups their game rules do not reflect how the schools run their league this causes kids to learn bad habits. I Will likely take my kid to the yes center or unless the community center changes their league to benefit the kids. Think twice before signing your child up for sports here. read more
