Unfortunately, she did not batch payments to each invoice as required. Instead, she made journal entries because she said "that is how we clear the deposits we cannot match to the bank statement". Of course they can be matched. That is not the correct method for keeping books for a small business. This approach may have saved her a lot of time, but it has caused significant issues for us. We had to undo all the deposits for the last 3 months, redo them, and match payments properly to ensure the records are accurate. This may be something that large corporations do but a small business must have accurate customer records. My last 2 bookkeepers (over a 25-year period) matched each payment with each individual invoice, correctly. I didn't want to leave this review, but Mary has refused to reimburse me for what I paid her for March books even though I am having to undue and redo all the deposits since the beginning of January when she began keeping my books. I have worked an extra 15-20 hours a week for a month to fix the books from Jan to now. I never would have hired Mary had I known she would think this was an okay practice. BEWARE!!! This experience has been frustrating and time-consuming. Proper bookkeeping is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, and shortcuts like these can lead to more work and potential errors down the line. I would not recommend this bookkeeper for anyone looking for thorough and precise bookkeeping services. I am tired and can never get this time back with my family. .

There are numerous instance where I found his knowledge in tax laws and customer service to be extraordinarily good. For my 2010 tax returns - it took us a long fight with IRS to get my refund, even though I had given up, Jeff insisted that I should get my refund, we had to stay with IRS for multiple hour long calls and finally got my refund on a complex filing. No other tax consultant will be patient and persistent enough to work with IRS to get their clients the fair refund. He never advertises himself as 'maximizing returns' , but very willing to work with you in an optimal return within the confines of the tax laws. Stay away from those who advertise as maximum return - it is an usually a segway for an IRS audit. And he has a wonderful staff who support in the tax filing ! Before finding Jeff, I was alternating between H/R block and filing it myself online. The biggest problem with H/R block is that the tax consultants have no motivation to do a good job, never updated with the latest information and have extremely inconsistent performance from one location to other. Few Tips: (1) Get all your deduction items in order - carry any receipts etc and preferably prepare an excel sheet with all your deduction items (2) If you have any stock trades - you might want to generate the Schedule D yourself - some companies such as TD Ameritrade provide free tools to generate Schedule D - if not you can find one online where you can upload your transactions and the software will generate the Schedule D (3) If you traveled internationally, prepare an excel sheet with each date of travel - if it was a business travel day or if it was a personal travel Finally - keep all the records - receipts, tax filing ... + make some of the notes yourself and keep them in a folder - IRS can audit tax filings and if you get a knock on your door - you want to make sure that you have your papers with you.
