Very energetic and passionate about his craft. He helps get you sweating those pounds off in the short and quick 50min classes. In a few months, I dropped a dress size and lost about 15 pounds! The option to go Mon thru Sat is awesome too and the schedule is accommodating to the busy-bee. The other members that go there are friendly and cheer each other on, so there is a lot of support. Coach Kali (Khalfani Porter) is an encouraging and enthusiastic instructor and keeps an eye on you to personally give tips or correct your form. Classes are engaging, instructors are amazing, facilities always clean and orderly. 10/10 would recommend! For working adults, there are both early morning classes (6 am) and evening classes (7pm ish). Also the app is great for checking the class schedule, as I always forget.

Pat is friendly but yet instills discipline with the kids and most importantly, he keeps it fun. My son really enjoys the classes with Pat, he looks forward to going to class, whereas in the past with a different martial art, he dreaded and hated it. He takes a lot of pride in it when we talk about what he did in class with my wife. Too bad our schedule only permits 2 days a week, he would enjoy going more often had our schedule permitted. And the best part about BJJ is that it's very effective to defend himself from bullies without needing to hurt anyone should one day he needs to. For myself, everyone welcomed me with open arms on my first class. I'm in my early 40's so I'm a bit out of shape, but the guys at the gym are very encouraging and friendly. When our son was seven, he was having a really tough time at school. Almost every day after pickup, he would tell us about being pushed around. At one point, another child even put his hands around his neck. The school's response was limited, and it was clear our son didn't yet have the confidence or skills to stand up for himself. Enrolling him at Tiger Schulmann's North Plainfield location turned out to be a life-changing decision. From day one, they created a fun, yet structured, and safe environment where he could grow. Over time, we saw a real transformation. He developed confidence that others could see, a stronger sense of self-assurance, and most importantly, the ability to make smart decisions in difficult situations.
