Nice little venue for seeing a concert. Was a little sticker shocked at the price for water. Same as a can of beer. Thought that was a little outrageous but hey, it's NY. We went to see Kittie and there were three opening acts. Personally not my taste but not everyone has good taste in music. A mosh pit started and then came the crowd surfing. At 58 I'm a little old for that but it was reminiscent of 35+ years ago. I really have to hand it to the security team at the stage. Those guys were awesome at handling the crowd and the surfers. They got ahold of the surfer and guided him or her into their arms and carefully got the surfers to their feet and sent them on their way. Much different than when I did it way back. Then the bouncers would bounce you off the cement a few times and usually lead you to the exit. And if you were female you knew you were getting felt up and groped by them. Didn't see any of that at all. It was an accepted fact back then if you were a large individual (can't say fat anymore) you didn't risk hurting people by surfing. Yeah, that doesn't apply anymore. Watched individuals that were well over 300 mark get passed down the crowd until getting lowered by security. Definitely kudos to them. They definitely earned their paychecks. Absolutely loved seeing the headliner of the evening Hippo Campus here at Warsaw! The venue was the most organized I have been to for such a small venue; I am use to massive stadiums only being this top notch. The will call and ticket entry lines were efficiently run. They checked bags twice which I didn't mind since people who arrived late missed the initial check (these days I rather be safe than sorry). The sound was fantastic and I really don't think there is a bad view here unless you are shorter to where someone will obstruct your view. The venue itself is pretty as well. read more

This place is really hit or miss for me. The venue is HUGE and that part is AWESOME. However, the stage is pretty low so unless you are really at the front, you won't see much. Additionally, this place has great sound for some artists and for others it doesn't do anything good. I saw Thee Oh Sees here a few months a go and that show was phenomenal. Indie rock thrives in this environment and the sound bounced off the walls and it felt so unpolished which was perfect for this band. Last night, I saw Daughters here (very abrasive, industrial sound. Listen to their most recent album, it's like these really intricate walls of sound hitting you, they're amazing). Their music is a bit too intricate to thrive here and while they were great live, I don't think this venue can cater to sounds that are intricate because it sort of just gets lost unfortunately. Bar is great, very friendly staff - they have an ATM for the cash only bar. Like this venue, but don't love it. read more

Came for an EDM show last Thursday night. Place is huge and spacious - there's a bar in one area, food for purchase in another area, and then the huge main area for the stage. I was not expecting such a cool stage when I first walked in but I was really impressed with what they were able to pull on and the sound quality. Bartender and security were pretty cool, bathrooms maintained clean throughout the night. No complaints here!! All around awesome concert venue. The size is the selling point here. I went to see The Vaccines on 06/09/2015 and it was both intimate and electric/energetic at the same time. I regret eating before the show as the polish fare (pierogies, kielbasa, etc) looked phenomenal! However, be sure to bring cash with you. There's an ATM on site but the bar only accepts cash payment, no credit/debit. There were some sound issues during the opening act but all was resolved by the time The Vaccines performed. Also, because it's a small place and they try to streamline things, there's only one line to get in. So, regardless of whether you have your ticket in hand, are picking up a ticket at will-call or are looking to buy a last minute ticket from the box office, you stand on the same, single (long ass) line until doors open. read more

I really, really love Warsaw. Places that are this weird are why I love NY. So, this is a music venue but it is more of a converted Polish social club (think knights of Columbus). The place looks like it crawled out of the 70's to die on the streets of Greenpoint and I LOVE IT. The main stage area looks like a school auditorium, fits about 4-500. The acoustics and sound are great, and it just has a good feel to it. Oh yeah, and they have a disco nipple hanging above the crowd. If you go to the left of the stage, you will find a full bar serving polish beer and well drinks and slightly high but not too gouge-y prices. The bar is tacky as hell with weird murals, and dangling red rope lights. Now the best part here, is that in the back you will find little old Polish ladies cranking out Kielbasa and Pierogies. They are inexpensive and they are GOOD. There was a moment of complete disassociation with the world about a year ago. I was watching Lorde play a set, eating a 'warsaw special' and sucking down a Tyskie. It was magical. Other than that the staff is generally amicable all around from the servers to the security staff. The bathrooms are brand new and well cleaned. And it is a few blocks away from a G and a 10m walk from the L - nice and easy to get to. I have been here twice now, and loved each time. If there is an act you want to see and they are putting on a show at Warsaw, I highly recommend checking it out. read more

Saw Regina Spektor in her tour closing show here. Great place to see a show, especially if you're like me and have to be up front by the stage. The sound leaves ALOT to be desired but again, if you're up front you don't have to worry about that. On a side note: I got there at 6pm and door were to open at 8pm. Thing is, there are two entrances: the main one on the side of the building and another entrance in the front where the Will Call ticket booth is. That particular night, they let the Will Call entrance open first. So people who got there at 7:55pm got to the front of the stage. People who stood outside in the freezing cold for 2 hours, like myself, got screwed. We put up a big stink, oh yes we did. but to no avail. We just made sure to stand on the side of the stage where Regina sits at her piano. The stupid people who got in before us were on the wrong side, so they didn't see her at all but for 3 songs that she does standing up. Go us! But back to the review: it would have been five stars, but one star gets deducted for the letting the other people get in before me debacle. And its quite a walk from the L train stop at Bedford. Since I have no idea how to get around there I had no choice but to walk. I took a cab back after the show to the subway. read more

We ended up here during last Santa Con which started in Manhattan and Polish National Home was one the spots in brooklyn on santa con map. We had a large group and we tried to enter there and it had a long line. The bouncer was nice enough to let everybody from our group go in together. So this is a huge space and is a perfect spot for parties with a lot of people. There was a cover charge of $10 bucks which wasn't great, I don't mind paying cover charge but for a place which is in middle of nowhere, it wasn't a great idea to have a cover charge. Anyways in the spirit of santacon we all paid and ventured inside. They have this huge hall and the Dj was on the stage and the room had a makeshift bar. On the other side of the room there was an another huge bar with some seating and pool tables . The DJ was nice in the beginning and was playing some nice music, but after sometime he wasn't mixing the music well. We were expecting a better DJ that night. Overall a decent spot but not worth taking a trek if coming from outside of brooklyn! read more

The following conversation took place right outside the Warsaw while my friend and I were waiting on the longest line ever to try to get into a McCarren Park Pool concert... Me: Oh, look, the Warsaw! Her: What's that? Me: It's this Polish National Home that they use as a concert venue now. Her: ...what? Me: Yeah, I saw Rasputina there. It was so weird because inside it's this big hall with these chairs that...um...well, they look like the chairs that every single Polish National Home has. Her: That sounds amazing. As a Pole, I was a bit skeptical about going here for a concert. After all, the Polish National Homes I had experienced all smelled of bigos and Zywiec and were filled with drunken Lech Walesa-types trying to dance. But my fears were quickly silenced because the Warsaw is such a laid-back concert venue that it's a wonder it's right to the left of center of the hipster mecca, Williamsburg. The bouncers moved everyone inside efficiently and the employees were all incredibly nice Poles who served up heaping plates of pierogi and cheap bottles of Zywiec and mixed drinks quickly enough that I wasn't worried about missing any part of the show. The concert hall itself is huge, with a definite old-school feel to it, like you're getting ready to watch a polka competition. But, somehow, it works; chairs were set out for us (which isn't true of all concerts, but still), and though confusing at first, it was nice to sit and just watch. The acoustics are just decent, with the sound coming mostly from two huge speakers, but the best part is the raised stage, which makes seeing the band incredibly easy no matter where you are. Bathroom Grade: 7/10. The bathroom itself isn't anything incredible, but I am giving them more points because there are, no joke, SIX rolls all hanging together inside. It's like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, except with TP. read more

Usually when I go to a show, I mentally prepare myself for a big ass hassle before I can enjoy the musical act. This really wasn't the case with the Warsaw. I got there relatively early for the Camera Obscura show and waited in line outside. It would've been nice if we could've waited inside, but the bouncer was pretty nice and let us in at the earliest possible minute. With some of the "hipper" shows this venue carries, they could probably get away with jacking their prices to Manhattan levels, but they keep it real. I dig that. Had a couple of beers and went into the main auditorium. It was spacious, airy, and roomy (see pics). Of course, this would change when it starts filling up, but really, nothing you can do about that. One problem I did have with the place was the acoustics. I wasn't expecting great acoustics, but at the very least the show should've been louder. There were times during the quieter songs that I heard the audience more than the band and I was right up front too. So I hated the sound guys and the assholes near the rear that wouldn't shut up. Still, I had a great time. And afterwards, I saw members of the band hanging out and having drinks/food so that was a nice little treat before hiking back to the L. read more

It's a quirky venue but one I've found myself at several times because they have some great acts come through. It has the feel of a school auditorium, so that means no tiered seating or anything fancy (at all). But I kind of love that. Every time I've been there there have been a few old Polish ladies who sell pierogies and sausage from a folding table by the merch stand. So cool! read more

I typically really like this venue. Just saw POND there and was surprised what a mess it was. I ended up bounced into a spot where someone told me they had already witnessed everyone in the area drunkenly fighting. Nice (sarcasm)! These two guys near me were super drunk and belligerent all night. One who was around 6'4' spent all night taping the entire show and taking instagram videos with his friend. He even started the show by shining his phone light on the band. Then these guys spent the first half of the show fighting with all the girls around them as they drunkenly fell and shoved into everyone. One stepped in front of me suddenly during the show and proceeded to try to start a shoving match with me. I called security and told them the guys had been a problem with multiple girls all night. Security said they'd watch him and did, but why let them stay when they had been a problem all night long? The guys proceeded to shove into some other girls all night. Seriously, Warsaw? You think people should be super drunk AND try to fight everyone around them. Other venues have no harassment policies. Consider doing the same. What should I expect from a venue that booked a known Polish White nationalist. You suck all around Warsaw! read more

LOVE this venue! Came here to see Mothxr and Polica and it was one of the best shows that I have ever attended!! Sure, the outstanding performances from the bands were the main reason for such a good show. But surely you can agree that a good venue greatly contributes to a good time/show. It's an intimate venue, which is perfect when you're a huge fan of the band(s). I was able to get to the front of the stage with ease and no greasing elbows or canoodling with strangers necessary. On the other side of the stage, there was a sizeable space which included a sitting area and bar. Pretty awesome that they serve homemade Polish food. I mean, who doesn't want to enjoy some homemade pierogies and homemade apple sauce before dancing/singing their heart out for hours? If your answer is "I don't," please don't come here =] read more

Out of all the music venues in brooklyn I've been to, this was my least favorite. Picture a dated auditorium mixed with knights of Columbus with a touch of Polish old age home. The sound system sucked to me. And I know I sound like this bougie concert go-er, but really I'm not. I could barely hear the voices of the bands, I feel like the music was echo-ing as if I was in a gymnasium. I was actually expecting the reviews to this place to be worse. The Polish National Home/Warsaw is an all-purpose venue in the heart of Greenpoint. I have been here for local markets, as well as shows. My experience on Friday for the Sonics show was just as good as ever. The stage area is large enough to accommodate a nice crowd, but not so large that it's overwhelming. If you get there at the right time, you have no problem getting close to the stage. Acoustics and sound are just right. There is one main bar in the side room and a smaller bar in the stage area. The beer selection certainly won't wow anyone, but for $6 you can get a large plastic cup of Zywiec. When in Greenpoint, right? Staff is efficient - the lines for security, ID check, and will call all moved quickly. There is also a coat check but I can't comment on that since I didn't use it. Waiting on line for a beer was also no problem for any of us, whether we went to the main bar or the smaller one. It took longer for us to move through the crowd than it did to get a drink. Perhaps the best thing about this place is that you can get pierogi. How many venues can boast that? I have yet to order them, but I'd like to think any place called the "Polish National Home/Warsaw" would know how to serve them up right. read more

The staff is HORRID. What a terrible experience going to see my favorite band. I have the same routine for every show I go to, I get there for doors, buy merch, go to my car, drop off the merch and take medication that I leave in my car before the show. I waited for doors to open and it was a will-call only event, I give them my ID and they give me a wristband. There is not a single sign that says no re/admission and there's only a handful of people in the venue. I get all the merch and I'm leaving, the bouncer rudely grabs me and yells there's no re-admission. I try pleading my case that this is unfair, I have arms filled with merch and wanna just put it in my car. I don't mention the medication. She says I can pay $4 to leave it with coat check, coat check doesn't even have a bag to protect or secure my stuff, so I went back to the bouncer and very politely asked if there is a manager I can speak to. SHE IS SCREAMING AT ME, it's embarrassing and she causes such a scene. For personal reasons, I do not want to explain my situation as everyone in the room was staring at me and this bouncer is completely irrational. I went to the lady at will-call to ask her if there is a manager that I can reasonably explain my situation. Another bouncer also grabs me, screams "SHE TOLD YOU 10 TIMES THERES NO READMISSION"... my response was politely asking to speak to someone in private (...and perhaps someone who is paid to logically speak and not scream at me.) Instead he keeps yelling at me, never once stating claim that he is the manager or a superior in charge. When the bouncer is done harassing me, I glance at the will-call lady and asked her again if there is a reasonable person I can speak to. She shyly bows her head and says that those are the people to speak to. Of course, because I did this the bouncer had to once more scream at me to stop asking. I felt like a hostage in a very hostile situation. Truly awful. What was the point of the wristband if there's no reentry? How are there not paid employees who I can reasonably talk to? The bouncers are security, not management. Alas, I did not wish to make this lengthy YELP review. I would have much rather talked to the venue. However, the email they provide on their website is not an active account and they never answer their phone, so I am hoping someone from Warsaw responds to me here and perhaps we can talk about this off social media. read more

Warsaw reminds me of hanging out with my Grandma at the Moose Lodge... if my Grandma was Polish... and if they had pierogi at the Moose Lodge. Check-in and wrist-banding was a breeze with pleasant staff. What I really liked about the place is the shape. It's feels wider side to side than it is front to back so even if you're all the way in the very back you're still close enough to have a great view of the band. It's not the most overly-ornate space, but it has a great community vibe as you can easily imagine the non-stop polka-jams that have occurred here over the years. I will definitely be on the lookout for more shows happening at the Warsaw! read more

This review is for Warsaw as a music venue. We came to Warsaw as part of Northside Festival to see Craft spells and beach fossils. The venue is HUGE and can fit a lot of people, BUT it also feels like you're out of place. The music area is a big ballroom (online, it says they do venues), which is strange for a rock/indie concert. The ballroom did project sound really well and the band could be heard from all the way in the back. The venue also served Polish food which is cool. However, CASH ONLY and NON-FUNCTIONING ATM! Side rooms had seats and food served by little old ladies. Bottled water was $3!!!! Bar was another side room, but it was crowded! I came here to model in a fashion show as part of a huge artistic event. It's a great space but scorching hot upstairs, not the ideal place to have models getting hair and makeup done. Overall, a great venue for photography purposes and the staff I encountered were very professional. The runway portion was a little scary with a hole in the center part of the stage but fortunately, no one in our show tripped and everyone knew to be mindful of this. I have no clue how the food and drinks are here but they did have cups and pitchers of water right at the bar so those of us who were sweltering could get some relief from the heat. It's also located in a safe neighborhood though parking is apparently somewhat competitive like it is everywhere else in NYC. read more

I've seen the Melvins, Frank Black, and Dinosaur Jr. at Warsaw. Sound isn't that great but I still like this venue a lot. Food is $5 and beer $4. You can always strike up a conversation with the band members walking around, chatting with fans, and getting drinks. read more

This is an awesome venue for shows, BUT I also specifically need to add how it also has become the seriously, seriously dead-on absolutely perfect home for the Brooklyn Record Riot. I cannot imagine a better venue for this. (Even its semi-mustiness is perfect as you can easily pretend you're crate-digging in the kind of convention hall in which these things are usually located.) Stage: utilized for DJ sets. Space: perfect for the tables upon tables of record dealers. Kitchen: the standby Polish beer and pierogies when you need to refuel after a particularly grueling vinyl haggling session. Back bar area: serving all your liquor and sports games needs along with housing discount vinyl in the case of the BRR. I'm suffering withdrawal just talking about it. read more

Awesome venue to see bands, the stage is actually kind of high and large so I felt a little distant, but its spaced wonderfully, with the huge bar area separate. The food is good (huge line) and the crowd for shows here are definitely energetic and enjoyable. Shots are in plastic cups. Ghettofab. A few more thoughts as an update: I thought the crowd was a bit stiff, nobody was having fun (although of course hipsters never seem like they're having fun, only being snobs with no conviction or backup). The bathrooms were solid, I totally got there early at the Camera Obscura show so it was nice and clean. Imagine taking a bingo hall at a Polish community center and then opening it up for concerts. That's basically what Warsaw is. There's a bar on the side and a room with folding tables where I guess you can eat or buy merch. The venue section is basically a school auditorium with a tiny stage and a lot of standing room. Kind of like the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, except with a good sound system. Bathrooms are at the back, and there's an upstairs balcony. Reminded me of Bowery Ballroom in terms of size. read more

My first concert venue. As stated by someone prior to my review, this place reminds me of a school gym during a prom. A decent sized place, it reminds me of Bowery Ballroom a bit. The stage and crowd area is pretty similar in size. The cool thing about this place, is that you can eat here before a show. I found that out while getting merch and seeing members of bands in line getting some Polish food. I could've ate, but I got a T-Shirt instead. Sound is always good, but I've only have seen 2 shows here (2002 & 2006), so I don't have much of a sampling. I got my first authentic tinnitus experience here as well. Good times. Warsaw is a good walk from the Bedford Avenue (L) Station, so if you want to grab a bite to eat, and avoid the atrocities of the (G) then the walk is a good idea. Overall, good venue. read more

Saw Lemonheads and Aimee Mann here back in July, was really taken aback at the time... not sure what I was expecting but when you arrive in New York from Australia to see some bands this is not the sort of place that comes to mind. Having said that, I loved it! I've been to a few Polish clubs and this could have been anywhere in the world. They know how to chill a beer and seem oblivious to the potential price mark ups they're missing out on - good for us. It's a bit like a school gym with the high stage but it was plenty spacious. Having traveled here specifically to see Aimee Mann (when will you ever come to Australia?) I was amazed to hear people next to me saying "who's this?"! You're so spoiled... read more

Warsaw is a really interesting place for shows. It's giant inside and great for general admission shows. The stage is high up enough that you could stand anywhere in the crowd and be able to see what's going on, on stage regardless of how far you are and how many tall people are in front of you. The polish women pushing their food on you is ridiculous, though. We went up to them to get a bottle of water, which they sell. We said we didn't want any pierogies, and they ignored us and went to the next person. So we had to wait there in line until they finally felt like giving us a bottle of water while asking if we wanted pierogies, again. I have nothing against their pierogies, which I'm sure they are amazing. But I have no desire to eat them while in a hot sweaty crowd of people at a show. The security guards, or whatever you want to call them. They were dicks. They weren't nice to me, or any of my friends. They were completely rude and had no reason to be. But I usually just go into venus expecting this from them so whatever. I think the Warsaw is a pretty awesome historic building and I think it's cool that they have shows and events there. I wouldn't be totally opposed to going here for a show again, but I have no desire to rush back to it either. read more

This is an interesting venue, you can feel the old Polish influence of the theater and they serve pierogies and kielbasa! There is a bar attached to the venue so that's a good place to chill and get drinks. The venue is not too big so it's the perfect size to comfortably enjoy a show without dealing a massive crowd. I stood near the front of the stage and speakers and I thought their sound system was pretty good! Of all venues I've been, to this has been the smoothest one to get in. They didn't check my bag or body with a detector. The venue doesn't match with the artists and crowd here, I feel like something classical should be performed here haha! read more

Cool, hipster venue with great shows. The decor is an old school building with a lot of character in the small detail of things -- if you're sober enough to have a keen eye. Would be nice if they had a place for an older crowd willing to pay a higher sticker price. Their crowd has been young 20s all the times I've been. The main room has really loud speakers for a high quality experience for electronics music. It also has great acoustics, so just over a great sound venue with an old school feel. They charge semi-city prices for dive bar drinks, but it's a concert venue for pete's sake -- and a damn cool one! In that sense, pretty cheap IMHO. I like how they keep it real with polish traditional eats served on a cheap plate by an authentic elderly but sophisticatedly hot polish grandma. Watch out kids. Hot cougar on the prowl. Super fun!
