I just ordered the Maki combo on Uber Eats. The miso soup was good, but the sushi seemed dry and didn't taste very good. I was fine with that since the cost for three rolls and the soup was only ~18 dollars, but then I ate a piece and discovered a fish bone in the sushi. I wouldn't recommend ordering sushi from here, but is so just be careful where you bite. Edit: Just called to inform the restaurant, they were very gracious and apologized. Massively inconsistent. Sometimes you get great portions that taste fresh, and other times you get inedible, stinky fish that should've been thrown out a week ago. For reference, I always order tuna sashimi/sushi and salmon sushi, and again, sometimes it's amazing and fresh, and other times it tastes and smells like it's spoiled. This is hole in the wall sushi shack. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind hole in the wall spots but that could get dangerous when sushi is involved. I walked in and ordered the Philadelphia roll and shrimp tempura roll, my go to rolls, came up to about $12. So I'm like cool this place isn't crowded I'll be in and out, winning!!!... no, have several seats. A couple minutes later group after group of college kids come in picking up their to-go orders. 15 minutes into waiting for my food I realized the college kids were geniuses for calling ahead and I may need to look into getting more education. *sorry, I didn't take a picture* Since my time as an undergrad student, my go-to Wasabi order has been the Maki combo with some extra side (either the pork gyoza or Thai ice tea with bubble). Tonight, I got the maki combo (one shrimp tempura, one salmon tempura, and one eel avocado) with a side salad and my go-to bubble tea. The bubble tea was disappointing, but I was not surprised as I did place my order after 8:00pm. The sushi survived my long drive back home, and was just as delicious as it always is. I would do 3.5 stars if I could. I've ordered here a couple of times. I will say that this is for sure one of the better sushi places in the College Park area. I've gotten a couple appetizers: the pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings. Personally I thought the pork dumplings were great but I am pretty sure it's bes use anything fried is good. The sauce that comes with the shrimp dumpling make the shrimp dumpling good. I usually order sushi rolls. The maki combo is a good deal for lunch. The miso soup is decent. And seaweed salad is good and crisp but a little heavy on the dressing for me. Personally, I think the spicy tuna roll here isn't good. It's more of a smokey tuna roll and that isn't what I want. I usually get a side of spicy mayo ( which I think is on the thiner side) and dunk each bite. I will say the California rolls are good. But my 2 go to rolls are the green dragon roll - avocado wrapped in shrimp tempura - and the sweetheart roll which is beautiful because it uses soy paper and gives its a little something different. read more

SOLID bubble tea! I got the Taro milk tea, and my wife got the papaya/mango smoothie. Both are delicious and full of flavor, without overdoing it on the sugar. You can taste more fruit than ice on the smoothie, unlike other places where you feel like they add ice more than anything else. Will definitely get bubble tea from here more often. read more

A poke bowl includes five toppings, however if you want more the costs is additional. Which is understandable. But the additional costs is inconsistent, it can be .50 to .75 When I challenge the price the lady manager explained to me that the fish cake toppings "change" the price of additional toppings. So my three extra toppings were no longer .50 each but .75 each. How unprofessional and unreasonable. I was fed up speaking to her and just paid. She was extremely rude. But if I order through an app, I don't get charged for extra toppings and I don't have to interact with her at all. So there's your life hack. read more

Worst. Restaurant. I. Ever. Went. To. My best friend recommended this place to me and I gave it a try. I saw they opened until 12AM and ordered pick up around 9:40. I got the Maki Combo and the three sushi orders I got were the Spicy Tuna roll, the California Roll and Shrimp Tempura. She told me they would be ready in 5 minutes and I told them I would be there around 10:05. She said it was fine. When it was 10, I got a call from her annoyed and told me they close at 10, but she never told me beforehand and I was taken aback since it said online they closed at 12AM. I went to the restaurant and confronted her about it. She told me "We've been open for 10 years. We close at 10PM all summer long." But I told her it says online it closes at 12AM and I was a new customer. I didn't know. I wouldn't have ordered otherwise. She continues to be rude, and I got my food and left. The food wasn't good either, so I regret ever going over there and wasting my money at that place. I'll never order here again and neither should you. read more

Good portions for a good price. Very convenient location as well if you're near campus. The lunch specials, the combo boxes, and the soup noodles are all good orders here. Meats are generally good quality, and from what I can tell, is fairly consistent across all the times I've ordered from here. They also offer poke and bubble tea. I can't speak for the former since I have never ordered it, but the bubble tea is a bit of a mixed bag sometimes. One time I ordered the bubble tea and the boba was a bit mushy, but other times, the boba was just fine. I think the only times I've had mushy boba was when it was later on in the day, and I imagine that is when the boba gets mushy from however they keep it for the day. If you plan on getting bubble tea here, then consider getting it earlier on in the day. Other than that, pretty good place to order from! read more

Wasabi used to be Danny's, a former CP institution for late night eating. For you new Terps, Danny's was the epitome of Chinese carryouts: located near the Frats/Sorority houses, they served all kinds of fried foods and seemingly never closed. The only thing that closed them down was the health inspector - but hey, health code violations are like stripes/badges of honor for Chinese carryouts. How bad was it here, you ask? Well, it wasn't how many health code violations they had, but rather, when were they ever NOT under probation for a violation. So while Wasabi did an incredible job of renovating the place (see pics)--I can only imagine how much 409 they used to clean up the kitchen hoods--underneath it all, it's still Danny's. Think about it this way: if you were out and you saw someone w/ a shirt that said: STD Free Since 2003 or... Month Three Of No STD's Would you go near him/her w/ a 10 foot pole? Food - I had their chicken teriyaki lunch special ($9.95), which comes w/ rice, soup, salad, 2 pcs of shumai and a 4 pc cali roll. The salad, which was a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, was served w/ a ginger dressing that had a strange flavor, the shumai was decent, the miso soup was ok, and the cali roll was bland and poorly rolled. The chicken is an unmarinated, thin cut chicken breast covered w/ a bland teriyaki sauce. Guess what? It was bland. I ate as much as I could since I did pay $10 for it, but it was one of the worst meals I've had in CP. I didn't dare try the sushi since the traffic for all CP restaurants in the summer is light and eating sushi in Danny's sounds like a recipe for digestive disaster (digaster). Bubble Tea - The best part of their Bubble Tea is the Engrish: Real Fruite! Only location service it! You can created any mix flavor! Most drink can also be service hot! (These are ALL from their menu btw). I ordered the pineapple smoothie w/ boba + lychee jelly ($3.95) and they made it right in front of me, rather than in the back of the restaurant like Yami Yami, and it's just pieces of pineapple, a pale juice, and ice. It tasted like juiced pineapple and even bubbled up like fresh squeezed juices do. The lychee jelly was oddly chewy and the balls began freezing on the way back to work. Yami Yami's is SO much better! Service - The workers are very friendly but the service was very slow. I was the only customer in there and it took about 10 minutes to get my lunch special. The bubble tea was made very fast but they only have one blender so I wonder how they'll do once school starts up again. Location - the interior is completely redone but the kitchen is definitely Danny's. They did clean the heck out of it though, but still...again, refer to the STD shirts. Truth be told, Danny's was pretty decent and people, including me, kept going back despite the health code violations b/c the food was cheap and most of it was fried. But when you try to make Japanese food, most of which is raw, in the same kitchen, it's a bit unsettling. I thought about giving this place a 1.5 since I only came here once, but what's the point of giving out an F+? Food in CP tends to be a pass/fail - it'll either be decent/slightly above average or it'll be an "I'd only eat here if I was drunk." Sadly, Wasabi falls into the latter category and made me actually miss Danny's. One redeeming fact about this place: I can imagine drunk frats boys screaming WASABI! a la that old Budweiser WAAAAZZZUPPP! commercial and that makes me laugh. read more

This update is in response to their delivery practices. I still think their food is great and reasonably priced. My frustration, however, comes with my experience using them through Grubhub recently and the lack of customer service I got when they delivered. Whoever the delivery person was called me and said "I'm 2 minutes away, can you just come out to the parking lot and meet me?" *record scratch* What? You're not even going to bother getting out of your car to walk my food the 30 or so steps from the parking lot to my door ... like everyone else who delivers here has done, including someone else from Wasabi Bistro?! If I wanted to have to leave my home, I would have just gotten carryout. I know that's super lazy or some, but delivery generally means getting out, bringing it to the door and knocking. Perhaps I would have been less frustrated if I wasn't fighting off a sinus infection and could see straight. Maybe I wouldn't have been so angry if I hadn't already tipped through Grubhub. Either way, I was peeved that this person already had their tip and took advantage of that to provide lackluster customer service. We had such a great thing going, but I'm a bit wary now. I came here recently because I had heard that their mango smoothie bubble tea was terrific. That being said, if I could only get bubble tea from one place in College Park for the rest of my life I would definitely go here. The bubble tea was extremely fresh. I am sure I even saw them put real mango in the machine. Their menu in terms of ingredients looks very interesting. Which makes me want to come back just to try everything out. Not sure if it was a one time thing, but I found the pieces to be a little small. As far as service goes, it is strictly kept behind a counter. The woman working at the register was nice, which helps when you are a little lost on what to order. If you order to eat at the place they will call your food when it's ready and you can grab it, along with utensils, yourself. I found the place to be on the dirty side. Both times I came into the restaurant, once for to-go and once to eat for here there were flies. Not really what anyone wants to see. I haven't been here since last year, so I wanted to try something new today. I decided to be bold (this is one of the more spontaneous and bold things I do, I kid you not) and order something totally new. I got the sushi pizza, which is, according to their menu: "Scallion cake topped with spicy shrimp, tuna, imitation crab meat, salmon, avocado, and lettuce. Spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzle. Best pizza in town...ever." I was a bit skeptical, mostly because the imagery of having sushi as a topping on pizza freaked me out. When it came, I saw all this lettuce and drizzled sauce and was a bit overwhelmed. I won't lie, you can't eat this without getting messy. I tried so hard to be a lady, but it wasn't happening. That being said, pretty delicious! I didn't think that raw tuna or salmon would taste good on the scallion pancake, but it was actually pretty good. The combination of all the flavors and textures just worked in an unexpected way, so I think being so pleasantly surprised definitely made this a good decision buy. I didn't order froyo or bubble tea, but they do fill the bubble tea and smoothies all the way to the top of the lid. (As opposed to places like Ten Ren, where they fill to the top of the CUP but not the top of the domed lid.) Also, Two and a Half Men was on and it was just interesting seeing Charlie Sheen on TV.
