    Happy Family

The sushi here is good. But the kitchen food is not. I had the hibachi and that was decent. But everything else was kinda below average. I usually order a nice salad and a sushi roll and I'm not gonna lie I've been pleased with them for the past couple of years. But today the food and service was pretty bad. I ordered a stir fry.. (happy family) it didn't taste like oyster sauce. Tasted like a weird chasu sauce mix and the beef and chicken in the dish was overly velveted that it was mushy. Stir fry is very easy.. it's just oyster sauce. How can you mess that up? Ordered scallop nigiri. Oh man - it was putrid. I told the server and she brushed me away and told me she was "too busy, it's fresh and to go and speak with the manager cause she was busy" wow, that really annoyed me cause I don't ever complain. Actually I usually just pay and leave- probably never come back. But I told myself I wasn't gonna be paying for bad food anymore. So I asked them to please take it off the check and smell the scallop. She refused. Till the manager came. The manger smelled it and knew right away it was bad. She even scrambled to remove it from the sushi case switch I commend. She didn't give me any trouble. So overall, good sushi bad kitchen food! Probably won't come back here anymore .. i will miss the private dining experience booth from the pretty Japanese style curtain. Womp womp!

I've come here a few times and the food is excellent, consistently. The outside is very unassuming, located in a giant shopping plaza, which is great because of the ample parking. Inside the ambiance is unexpected. Dark walls and nice lighting with private dining booths along one wall. I've gotten a variety of sushi dishes, soups, and a noodle dish there. All of it is delicious. Service is fast and no frill, which I appreciate. Great place.

Came back many times. Great experience as always. Got a mixture of kitchen food and sushi rolls.

Came here for dinner and the experience was quite good. We were seated in a semi-private booth which I really liked. Service was great and our waiter came to check in on us regularly. We ordered a variety of sushi as well as hot entrees and for the most part they were all pretty good. Tab came out to just over $100 which was very reasonable for a party of four and we ordered drinks.

    RI roll & cucumber/avocado maki

Although I only got takeout this time, I'm really looking forward to coming back to Wasabi to dine in. It's in a plaza with Staples & Petsmart & other big businesses on Bald Hill, so imagine my surprise when I went inside to pick up my order & saw how swanky the restaurant was. It has a great vibe - high ceilings, well lit & well decorated, & kind employees. I got the special RI roll, as well as a cucumber/avocado maki, & a miso soup. The avocado/cucumber maki was mediocre & the miso soup was delicious & hit the spot. BUT the RI roll was one of the best sushi rolls I've had in a long time. Fresh, tender, & delicious. I will absolutely be ordering this again. Best part of the meal. They did charge me 25 cents for GF soy sauce, which I thought was a little strange. Regardless, I still very much recommend Wasabi for takeout - stay tuned for my dine-in report!

Sushi was good, we had the wasabi roll- tasty, we also had endaname- it was average at best...warm, not hot. Hubby had the Hibachi chicken and shrimp combo- this is NOT a Hibachi per say (they don't cook it in front of you). He said it was okay. Overall all the sushi was good. I ordered chicken Pad Thai for my meal and they never brought it out...when we told them about it they apologized....I said to forget it as I was stuffed with the sushi. They said that it's because they have 1 chef that quit...so they only have 1(?). Now this is where I will tell you they need LOTS OF WORK....the ladies bathroom was horrible....only 1 light in there...so one stall is almost totally dark...the water to wash your hands in the sink dribbles out very little and it was freezing...only cold water, no hot water at all....and the garbage can was filled will about an inch thick of dust. So my biggest gripe was the bathroom...and that I didn't get the meal, but...actually the sushi was very good.

Very cool privacy booths. You may request for one if available.

Food was slow and cold, member of our party was sick after eating here. I wouldn't go back.

Fresh, great tasting sushi. Consistently good. I have loved every roll I have tried. The private alcove tables are cozy.

Chicken Pad Thai.... Absolutely Terrible ..had to look for the chicken, noodles were very mushy..and was loaded with sweet chili sauce .. contained ZERO Pad Thai sauce which is a peanut sauce. We went for lunch so it was not super busy; we were maybe one of two patrons inside. It was nicely decorated, and there was a TV above our table playing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. What a good movie! They served wonton chips with duck sauce, like chips and salsa. What a nice touch! I have never seen that before at an Asian restaurant. We ordered some general Tso's chicken and then one of sushi lunch specials, which came with two rolls and either a soup or salad. I chose the salad, which is like the ones you get at hibachi. It was drowning in that orange tangy sauce, but it was still good! The sushi was good, too. Not the best I have ever had, but still good. The whole meal was perhaps $25. That's crazy for the amount of food we got! Highly recommend.

My first trip was to Islander The inside of the Islander is gorgeous, ornate decorations tastefully spaced to create texture and visual appeal. The mother and daughter duo who served us were long time employees of the business. I was told that they had three generations of their family work as front of house staff there. Most of the employees were there for the long haul, a sign if thoughtful and caring ownership. A foreshadowing to when I met the owner later. We ordered the crab rangoon and our server mentioned she would send out a scallion pancake and some salt and pepper spicy wings for us to try. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive. The appetizers all looked beautiful and we couldn't wait to try them. The rangoon were delicious. Creamy, a nice proportion of kani with a hint of onion in the background. What I really liked about them was the purse shape. The fried edges had the kind of crispiness that shattered when you bit into it. The scallion pancakes were flaky and tasty. The wings were a good kind of heat, some spice but it never overwhelmed. The banana peppers added a little acidity that took it over the top. And when we thought that was all, two more dishes came out! The Islander fried rice and the Peking Beef. Both were great but my favorite of the two was the beef. The beef was so tender, the sauce was savory, meaty and loaded with veggies like baby bok choy, snow peas and baby corn. At this point, Simon the owner came by and spoke to our table. I had so many questions for him and he was kind enough to answer all of them. I couldn't thank him enough for his kindness and generosity. He was genuinely so sweet. He even sent us home with another order of rangoon and the house wings. I hadn't been to many restaurants in this part of Warwick but I highly recommend you make the trip to come and dine here. Great food, incredible people, fantastic atmosphere. 10/10

Islander has been at this location for many, many years. I've always enjoyed their food. It's a spacious Chinese restaurant with good service. I was there recently with friends for dinner. I started off with the single size scorpion bowl; it was strong and delicious. We shared crab rangoons, which were up there with one of my favorites; it was 5 stars alone. For my meal, I had the appetizer combo which comes with boneless spare ribs, Islander wings, teriyaki, and pork fried rice. My favorites were the Islander wings, it was in a sticky dark sauce that was sweet and the wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The space ribs were decent and my least favorite were the teriyaki sticks; it lacked some flavor. Overall, food, drinks, and ambiance, I would give them 4.5 stars total.
