So, interesting experience. Controls are centralized to one unit. Other than that, good machines, friendly atmosphere. The washing machines spin out water WELL, so drying time is minimal. Best part, cafe attached. Excellent coffee! Free wifi and charging outlets.

I always wondered why reviews about this place were so different. Some say the "eccentric" guy was nice, some say he is not. Well today i figured out there are TWO eccentric guys. Yes! TWINS WHO DRESS ALIKE! It felt like a sitcom scene. But here are the pics to prove it. The fact is, I have always been lucky enough to get the good guy and i am a happy customer.

Excellent place to do your laundry while in Berlin. Amazing little cafe inside the same place that allows you to use the internet and connect your laptop to the electric. They will also explain to you how to use the machines if you don't know.

Fairly basic laundromat. It had everything we needed (as travelers) to do a load of laundry away from home. Not extremely clean, but it did the job for a reasonable price. Much better than the outrageous prices hotels charge. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Free WiFi and a small cafe inside make the wait bearable. Seriously, why don't more laundromats have cafes inside? Great idea.

Laundry is par for the course but the cafe is excellent with great drinks a nice atmosphere and very pleasant staff.

Washing clothes becomes an experience. The owners are sometimes nice sometimes harsh and it is pure fun talking with them (if you talk some German :-) ). Early in the morning no crowd. The machines sometimes eat coins watch out. Bring your soap: cheaper.

Easy access via public transit, lots of machines, cafe attached, free WiFi. Makes doing your laundry a little less awful.

If you are in Berlin and searching for a nice quiet place to take in the city and get your laundry…read moredone, Freddy Leck's Wash Salon is your place! My family and I stopped in on a rainy June afternoon. We were immediately greeted by a kind individual who told us to relax and enjoy the walking experience. He showed us the washers to use and explained the rest of the process as far as detergent and where we could sit. All the information is also posted in German, as well as in English on frames throughout the wash salon. If you have come without detergent or other supplies, they offer products for a small fee. The salon also offers a drop service where they will wash and dry your items and pick up at a different time. My favorite part of the experience besides the amazing customer service was that each washer and dryer has a name, for instance Inez! After getting settled, I later find out the kind individual who helped us upon entering was Freddy himself! Although he was busy, he and his staff continuously checked in on us. We were there a few hours and in the time walked the street the salon is and even chatted with Freddy about Berlin. We keep this on the list as a spot to return to in the future. Kind people, great service, and a clean place to wash!

The place is run by what seemed to be a mother-and-son team. The young man in particular was very kind and helpful in walking us through the process. We had two loads of laundry, which came out to about €16. At first, I thought the price was a little on the high side, but it was hard to complain given the overall experience. The laundromat was clean, well-kept, and had a comfortable atmosphere. You can even enjoy a nice cup of coffee (for a price) while you wait, and there's Free WiFi available too, which is always a plus for travelers. One of the things we appreciated most was that we felt secure enough to leave our clothes while they washed. The area is surrounded by restaurants, so we were able to slip out for a bite to eat and come back without any worries. Overall, this laundromat was a great find on our trip--clean, friendly, with WiFi, coffee, and in a perfect location. Definitely recommend it if you're traveling through Berlin and need to do a quick refresh on your clothes.

In A Nutshell:…read more -Specht's Waschsalon (laundromat) was a great find during a recent trip to Berlin. -I tend to pack as little as possible to save on unnecessary baggage fees & more importantly dragging along more weight, while keeping my hands free during travels. -I always make sure there are laundromats nearby the accommodation I stay at. -The parking here is slightly tough, but if you linger around, you'll eventually find a space. -This is a very small laundromat, but it wasn't full. -It was tricky to learn at first, but luckily (as in almost all my experiences), there is someone nice enough to help guide you through (especially when you can't read foreign languages). -I was able to wash/dry within a 3 hour time frame. Overall, doing laundry in foreign places is fun since I do laundry at home in my house, you always learn something new, how the locals live & encounter very nice people willing to help.

The upstairs has a little cafe with basic food and drink offerings. If you need a place, I highly recommend this location. They sell washing detergent and softener through the same vending machine one uses to pay. One can pay in coins, cash (and I think credit cards, if I recall). You have to note the name on your machine in order to pay, but the signage explains it pretty clearly. One of the reviews on Yelp also has (largely accurate) instructions. Great little joint.

But I have…read morebeen lucky to have washing machines at every place I have lived thus far, and with the slight exception of one breaking that required a quick and dirty drip to the laundromat, I have never had a need to wash clothes outside of my home here. But when it came time to wash a giant winter comforter, it wouldn't fit in our washing machine. Not only that, but in order to waterproof our winter shell jackets, we needed access to a dryer, something which most Germans don't have. So we made our way across the park to Waschhaus 38. I was surprised when I arrived. It's narrow and long, two stories tall. It has a "lounge" area with sofas and tables. And it's CLEAN. We opted for the big washer and dryer upstairs... these are all named after countries and cities, which is kind of strange but makes things interesting I suppose. All in all, we spent about an hour there. It was a Sunday but there were plenty of machines available and we were in and out in no time with clean and dry belongings. That said, if I did have to frequent a laundromat, the prices here aren't the absolute best, but the place is still pretty legit.

Yet this doesn't change the fact that the jacket remained unclean since they apparently cannot process that particular type of fabric. To be fair, they did write me an e-mail to let me know that they couldn't do anything with my coat, which kept me from an unpleasant surprise, but what I found annoying is that this only happened after it had already been picked up. I wish the first driver would have let me know right away. Moreover, they were not able to process a basic leather jacket of mine, which did surprise me because I had expected a bigger variety in their service. In my opinion, that was the whole point in having someone pick up my stuff and bring it back: having a thorough and professional service without having to worry too much about whether they can process it. All in all, I lost three days in the whole process and could've gone to a local laundry and gotten instant feedback and probably my coat cleaned. They offered me a 15€ coupon to make up for it but I don't believe I will be sending anything there anytime soon. I believe the startup is a great idea, but it seems to promise a bigger variety of service than it actually does. Nowhere did I see a detailed explanation of what they can process and what they can't, and since the website looks good I just decided to trust my guts. What I am saying is: think twice before sending any kind of "unusual" fabrics there, as this whole experience that was supposed to be practical unfortunately turned out to be a hassle. ... and this, kids, is how I decided to stick to my local laundry.

I suppose I should have read the previous review before wasting my time…read more Scheduled a pick up to my hotel with all details, phone, room number etc. Waited in the lobby during the scheduled time plus half an hour extra hoping they would show. During the extra half hour I called and emailed to let them know I was still waiting for my laundry to be picked up. I gave up and went up to my room. 15 minutes later I get an email stating that they weren't going to be able to pick up as they were overbooked today. The rep told me the driver had tried to reach me with no luck. Shameful that they would try to blame it on not reaching me when I am at a public space that is open, has a reception, they have my room number as well as my phone number AND I was waiting in person in the lobby with a bag of laundry! To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. They had audacity to ask if I wanted them to reschedule the pick up for the following day. Sure, let me sit and waste my morning while you again don't come and provide the service your business is based upon. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. What a joke.
