If you urgently need to wash clothes and it's near by it will do. Traveled Europe for 16 days laundry had to be done. It's very clean, the soap they sell is awful buts it's definitely better than nothing. The dryers don't work well I used a few . We kept adding money to dry and clothes were wet still. After a couple hours we left but at least they our clothes were cleaned. Seek alternatives it was my first but not last visit to Berlin. read more

So, interesting experience. Controls are centralized to one unit. Other than that, good machines, friendly atmosphere. The washing machines spin out water WELL, so drying time is minimal. Best part, cafe attached. Excellent coffee! Free wifi and charging outlets. read more

Fairly basic laundromat. It had everything we needed (as travelers) to do a load of laundry away from home. Not extremely clean, but it did the job for a reasonable price. Much better than the outrageous prices hotels charge. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Free WiFi and a small cafe inside make the wait bearable. Seriously, why don't more laundromats have cafes inside? Great idea. read more

I was staying at a hotel in the lower Mitte and needed some clean clothes for the remainder of my trip. My hotel would have been happy to launder and iron a single pair of jeans for 8€ (!) . For that price I hopped on the U bahn, and washed an entire load at this waschsalon. (The espresso and tip for the proprietor-see below-were small extras). Despite some mixed reviews here, this place is actually very good, decently priced, really homey, and perfect for non-German-speaking travelers. It seems both of-the-neighborhood and tourist-eager. There appears to be (twin?) brothers who own and manage the place with warmth, hospitality, and gentle direction. To the reviewer who complained re: the soap issue, the soap is not 3€, it's 0.50€. Because the über-friendly "host" swoops in to offer to help (even to German speakers) and then immediately works the money taking machine (MTM) for you, it can be a bit baffling. The 3€ is for the small (6.5kg) washer. After you've selected your washer number, the MTM then prompts for soap payment. (The efficient host even quickly put my soap in for me, so fast I barely noticed it, while I remained baffled.) Drying is 0.70€ for every 10 min, 2.10€ for a 30 minute minimum. So my 6.5 kg wash+soap+dry = 5.60€. The machine that takes your money (MTM) and credits you to use washers, soap, and dryers is marked "Selbstbedienung" (Self-service). But this place is really Full Service, particularly for non-German-speakers, unless you are able to take charge of the operation at the moment you arrive. The tip 'everyone's' jolly helper playfully sought as I was ready to leave (motioning to let him look in my bag for something for him; yet there it was, € hidden in my hand) was a bargain for his attentive, step by step assistance. If you can relax and simply go with the flow, this charming family business offers welcome-to-Berlin hand-holding for those needing to wash their clothes. read more

First off, I am an American student studying in Berlin. There are several things you need to know about this place. This place is a bit of a tourist trap (for people with prolonged stay anyway). The store: It's a waschsalon (laundromat) with a cafe inside. The guy who was working there that night was incredibly kind. Interesting layout for this waschsalon. The machines: Simply numbered. You go to a machine and load your clothes. SET YOUR WASH TYPE AND ADD SOAP. Remember your number. Go to the computer terminal and find your number (English option available on the terminal). Insert money, and if the machine has not started yet, start it. Washing machine works as it should. Very limited options though (no cold wash) DRYER IS WEAK. The vibe: I honestly love the guy's sense of music. He's such a character that it makes going there and waiting for your clothes to be washed a different experience. The cafe is really tiny, but there are PLENTY of seats. Relatively comfortable experience. It's the man and the music that ties this place together, honestly. He's super helpful with the machines too (his English is not good). They have a RESTROOM (WC). Kind of hidden. I do not recommend it. Overall: (3/5) Protip: Save yourself some money and buy your own soap. 1 mark represents soap for PRE-WASH 2 marks represents soap for REGULAR WASH My story: Most people misunderstand that we should have the privilege of getting the best fucking service and screwing everyone else over. There were several American girls there that night that really lit the fuse on the old guy that was working there. I was there from 10 to closing and saw it. They were just yelling at the old guy for things he could not control. He sucked it up and dealt with it as nicely as he could, uttering in German to the locals who were there to arouse sympathy for himself. I'm pretty sure everybody there that night held animosity toward those girls. Also, it didn't help that they were loud as fuck. For shame, Americans. For shame... read more

This place was good... we washed our clothes here halfway thru a 3-week Europe trip. They have laundry soap and fabric softener for an extra 50 cents each. Washing is approx 30 mins depending on which one you use and drying is in 10 min increments. There is a cafe attached, but it tends to close early- around 1900/7pm I think. There are instructions on the walls in German and English to help you figure out how it works- including pictures of where to put the detergent! read more

The beer selection is near nonexistent, basically just Becks in a bottle. The wifi is super slow and drops out. Kraków is kicking your ass, Berlin. Also, they close the cafe at 20:15, and most of the seats in the laundry area are broken. read more

Nice if you don't mind waiting for a machine. Very few washers and about 5 or so dryers. The wifi was nice and I'm sure if I stuck around I would have had a nice drink or two to calm my nerves. I washed my clothes and hauled them 50 yards down the sidewalk to another coin-op that was wide open and available to dry. In the end it depends. Never again! The freshly washed clothes stink, the dryers are dirty and the owner is very intrusive (he gets touchy) and has no understanding for other peoples privacy. To top things, he tried to trick me into paying for an additional dryer (hes very persistent ant doesnt know when to stop) because he claimed that my stuff wouldnt get dry this way but i insisted and guess what? Washing clothes becomes an experience. The owners are sometimes nice sometimes harsh and it is pure fun talking with them (if you talk some German :-) ). Early in the morning no crowd. The machines sometimes eat coins watch out. Bring your soap: cheaper. read more

First, the positives. We got our clothes washed, and (nearly) dried. Price acceptable. Now, the negatives. Negative Number One: The Guy! Perhaps we got him on a bad day, and he's not usually so grumpy and rude? Maybe he has a degenerative memory disease which prevents him from remembering that you've already paid, and causes him to hassle you repeatedly for the payment you've already made? Maybe his eyesight is failing, and prevents him from noticing that his 'cleaning' business is actually quite dirty? Grimy tables, torn chairs, tattered decor and sticky floors do not add to the oppressive atmosphere. We could not wait to get away from this guy! - I was with a male companion, and would have been creeped out and intimidated if I was there alone. Hint, there's a busy laundromat with more washers and dryers (and no creepy staff) just two doors further up the street! read more

I needed to wash my clothes ASAP and googled for one. I was staying at Best Western Hotel President in City West and I wanted a waschsalon near a Metro they call U Bahn. This one fit the bill and was cheap! 3 euros for a washing machine, .50 cents for soap, & 2.10 euros for dry. An hour and a half later my clothes smelled great. Also the Internet cafe attached to it was great coffee and a PC to rent for simple Internet and printing. Wifi included!! Next time I visit Berlin ill definitely be back here. read more

This is a laundromat. In it are machines with which to wash your clothing. If you are an American like me, it may confuse you that you pay at the thing that looks like a change machine. Select your washer there, put in your money, then wash your clothes. while you wait go to the cafe and have a coffee. Oh, and. bring your own soap etc. I don't recall seeing a vending machine for supplies. read more

If you're a tourist looking for a strange and baffling experience that nets you perfectly clean laundry, go here. If you're looking for ease and clarity you're probably better off elsewhere. I'll start off by saying that my husband and I don't speak German and don't expect others to speak English for us. Usually when we're doing laundry in another country we do our best to read the signs and just kind of figure it out based on intuition. But not this time. We entered Waschsalon 115 and encountered the very eccentric proprietor of the place who attempted to direct us to a machine we could use. At first we didn't realize he was talking to us, so he began to yodel at us. Finally we got a clue and followed him, but we were still baffled. We couldn't figure out how the machines worked, how long it would take, or how much it cost. I had assumed that the machines were automated, which was my first mistake. Eventually a German man next to us kindly explained that the man would turn the machine on and told us what to do. About an hour and a half and under 10 EUR later, our laundry was clean and we were on our way back to our hotel still laughing about our ineptitude and the strange yodeling laundry man. IIRC, we did two loads, but I'm not certain. The price was comparable to doing laundry on other trips to Ireland, England, and Spain, however. read more
