It was the best decision of my life and only wish it was an option for my 2 older children when they were going through. It is a cute little neighborhood preschool. It offers such a personable feeling. Rebecca and all her teachers feel like family to me and my family. My daughter is excited to go to school and excited to come home and tell me all about her day and what she did. I am truly grateful for her being able to go here. They offer a Christian learning environment at Little Camellia Schoolhouse with lots of hands on activities for the kids to be engaged. If I could keep my child here until college I would;)

It is always beautifully decorated which makes it feel very cheerful and inviting! I have been to many other preschool centers and they always seem uninviting and cold (that is not the case at Little Camellia). The ladies that work there are some of the loveliest people I have ever meet. You can tell they love what they're doing and they love the children. It has 6 classrooms and a very nice playground with slides, swings, riding toys, sand table and a lot more. The classrooms have cubbies for every child, group tables, and different educational centers set up. When we arrive we are always greeted by someone and have to check in and out. I have walked into other preschools where no one has ever stop or questioned me (that did not feel safe). When I've come at naptime there are always teachers in the classrooms watching the children and working on lesson plans. The Little Camellia Schoolhouse is a PRESCHOOL that focuses on learning! They have daily BIBLE, MATH, READING, and SCIENCE lessons. I love The Little Camellia Schoolhouse because it is NOT a daycare where I drop my kids off and they do nothing all day and all the workers do is feed them meals and let them run around, and unlike most centers I get to provide my children with a healthy lunch with things I know they like to eat, instead of them eating whatever is served that day (or not eating because they are a little picky). The tuition is very reasonable compared to the other centers in this area. Having had different experiences with other preschool centers in the Slidell area I wouldn't send my children anywhere else!

(my brutally honest opinion.)

It is not a nurturing environment, it doesn't even try to be one. The only Alumni leaving 4-5 star reviews would be those in the A-class, the 'smart class' who were the only ones the teachers actually put effort into. Seriously. I remember doing the same math problem for an entire year in C-class while A-class children were learning Latin. That was the overall experience. If you're labeled a smart kid, they prepare you for highschool. If not, you will likely spend a good chunk of highschool paying for it. That's only on the value of the school's education. Ethically, this place was questionable as other reviews can attest to. As a child, a legal minor, I was told that I would be condemned to hell if I got an abortion, transitioned to a different gender, or voted Democrat. And that's just what I can recall five years later. That seems awfully religiously (and politically) motivated for a school that isn't officially affiliated with any religion. And this might seem like typical Catholic rhetoric, but we weren't actually taught anything you would actually learn in a religion class, I didn't see a Bible ONCE. We just had moral superiority and religious flavored threats shoved down our throats. After leaving this school I have been told that the incentive behind its founding in the 1963 was desegregation in Louisiana schools. Of course, the school would never admit to that and I'm not old enough to confirm it, but I would believe it after witnessing how many of my non-white or even non-Christian peers were treated. Socially? I witnessed on multiple occasions bullying and verbal altercations turn physically violent, and teachers never did anything to deescalate the situation or break the kids up. I don't personally know anyone who didn't have some form of social anxiety or awkwardness after leaving this school. The social environment is the human equivalent of broiler chickens pecking each other's feathers out due to stress. Don't send your children here. There are many better and more nurturing options out there. The public school districts around genuinely aren't bad enough for this to be an option. If an administrator is reading this, please treat these children better. They are kids, blank slates, and you aren't teaching or even encouraging them to be good people.

My son is 2 1/2 and I was looking for somewhere he could go for a few hours a week that would be enjoyable for him. Some places had funny odors or were too strict. This place seemed very clean with children having fun. When I met the teachers I was also very impressed as they are just soo friendly. My son who is super clingy loves coming here. They play outside, sing, do crafts and just have an awesome time. I definitely recommend this to all parents.

A TV that plays musical and educational videos. They have healthy food everyday! Cubbies are kept neat and they have never lost anything of my child's. The place is very clean, has a good learning program, and has the camera system where you can peek in on your kids throughout the day. Best part is that if there's ever an issue, the owner, Ms. Lisa, will personally take care of it. She's very down to earth and understanding. We still feel like we can call/text her even in the evenings. I miss this place. I especially love the cute homemade presents we get from the kids for holidays and the little parties they put on. The Easter bunny and Santa comes to visit and they take Fall and Spring pictures. Also, when our kids left, they made a going away binder full of cute pictures throughout the years. They provide healthy lunches and snacks, open age grouping, and an effective education method that works developed by Maria Montessori. We love it here! As the children are learning letters they learn through their senses and first learn the sounds then to draw on sandpaper cut out letters then in a small board of sand (think zen garden for an office desk). The environment is very home-like, comfortable, sensorial, global, human. When it is busy it has a beautiful humming sound as the kids grab their own work and begin their day under the observation and gentle guidance of the teacher, whose presence is hardly noticed by an outside observer. She floats and observes and facilitates. Snacks are healthy. Peaceful resolution of problems is a key focus. I volunteer for some Spanish education. Unstructured play is also key and very sandy. I shake and dust off the sand before helping my excited, engaged, and exhausted child into the car at the end of a day. They have a sand lion pet as well as a tadpole. My child is respected and loved here. The school has been open for 30 years under the guidance and direction of Erlene Weldon, who has given her life to this school in a town I was very surprised to house the Montessori method. They offer far more than any day care setting inspiring children to love to learn, think with all of their body, and become responsible little people very gracious and courteous.
