Do not use this company. It is hard to cancel the service, and they charge $75 for garbage can pickup and will not allow you to drop off. This charge is more than a monthly service fee. They twist your arm and either continue with them or pay a high price to pick up their property. read more

if I could leave no stars I would. there is curb and gutter work being done on my street and the driver did not come get my trash that was supposed to be picked up yesterday. we called customer service and they stated they would get it last night or right away this morning. trash again was not picked up and now they refuse because of the construction even though other garbage companies and traffic have no problem going they the street. I have never disliked a company like this in my life. We just moved to town and in the last two weeks they have not picked up our trash. Continuous rescheduling and oh man! Don't try their customer service because you will be on hold for an hour and they won't give you a solution. I am waiting for Monday to get my account closed and find another company. It's been horrible! The recycling bin was supposed to be picked up and they left it half full And my trash completely full. I hate this company. Horrible customer service!! You cannot phone; as no human will ever answer the phone. You are forced into what their staged phone "menu" offers. And if none of it pertains - oh well you're out of luck. The Robot phone menu NEVER allows an option to speak with a real person. Then there's being on hold for over an hour - then cut-off. Ya! The only option they give you is to rent their cans. They raise prices without notifying you. When you cancel service even for a move, they charge you to pick up their own property (cans you were forced to rent) don't give you the option to return them yourself. Trash and recyclable pick-up is very professional, but customer-friendly service isn't customer friendly. It's inept. Cancel service and they won't let go. Street repair began in the Whittier neighborhood in early November. It was expected to last five weeks (seven). Consequently, I cancelled service--or so I thought. No trucks could enter my dead end street, but a November bill did. I called to remind WM of my cancellation and was credited. December arrived and I got an email reminding me of $75 for service. Again, I called, and thought the problem would go away, not so. WM doesn't let go. A few days ago, another email arrived demanding $87, which included a late fee. I called this morning, 1/17, and was told the $75 was for receptacle removal, but my account showed WM owes me $59. Then I was told that there was no additional charge. I asked for a follow-up email--in two minutes, she said. That was 30 minutes ago. Has WM let me go? Who knows. I'll find out with the next demand for payment. read more

These people are the WORST. To communicate with them about a delayed postage situation of one of their bills took 1.25 hours, 3 different people and most of the time on hold. Trying to hear what they said and having them understand what I said was like a Marx bros comedy only it was not funny at all, it was one of the more miserable hours of my life. Before you read this, look up the reviews on other sites. My experience is not unique. Left these guys after 5 years of terrible service and worse customer support in 2016. Went to GarbageMan and now 2 years later, sold to WM. So 3 weeks in, they take the garbage but not the recycling. Recycling bin moved up the driveway but not emptied, took the neighbors. Same issues, different day. Call customer service and after 15 minutes of waiting for them to confirm my account, am told they will be out to pick up my recycling in 24-48 hours (told this on a Friday, so of course that means Monday or Tuesday if at all.) So I will begin the process of cancelling service and they want to charge me $120 to come get their bins. I will of course block any further payment to them on my card after paying for last month and they will threaten me with bill collection for bins they haven't collected yet. How do i know this will happen? Am I psychic? NO, because i can remember stuff from 2 years ago. I will post an update either way out of morbid curiosity. read more

Waste management is a waste of money. Although I placed the canister at the curb (as per covid stipulations), they would leave my canister in the middle of my driveway. They missed a pick up so I had to call to the service center which took 30minutes of phone wait to speak to a representative. This winter they placed a letter on my garbage canister threatening legal action if a WM employee fell due to weather conditions however, my driveway was shoveled of snow. Worst service there is. If I could give zero stars I would. When I moved 5 months ago and put in to cancel my service through there website, they still haven't canceled. Nor did they adjust the final bill amount, they charged me quarterly. They were emailing me about my cancellation request asking why and such, still not cancelling though. I then recently received an email saying that I had to call in order to cancel, even though their website has a way to cancel without calling. They have horrible customer service, and I've heard the similar issues from others who have dealt with them and made the same mistake as me and not read reviews . If someone asked for my recommendation on garbage removal, the first thing I would say is - What ever you do, do not chose Waste Management. In the end you will regret it. They pick up garbage just fine, but as far as customer service when opting to chose a cheaper company and canceling service they suck. Plus they stick you with a $75 charge to pick up two plastic bins at the end of your drive way just to be a**holes. I would give 0 stars. After this mornings service I cancelled. They showed up way earlier than normal so I missed the pick up. The driver was two houses down and saw me bring my bins out. They just gave me a look and kept going. I called to get the driver to come back. They state they have no way of contacting them! So I'm scheduled to get a pick up in 2 business days. I decide to cancel my service and go with another hauler which is half the price. WM is going to charge me $50 to pick up their own bins after my service is up!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! read more

Today Waste Management in Sioux Falls reached a new low. I waited about 5 minutes while one of their giant trucks blocked the street and a dead-end alley while it backed out and in of the alley and blocked 18th Street. About 1.5 hours later, another Waste Management giant truck parked in 18th Street and blocked the same dead end alley while the garbage man walked down the alley and back twice to bring out garbage. Another lost five minutes. A few years ago two Waste Management trucks were blocking the alley at the same time. This looks like some type of churning business; are they still run by the Mafia? read more
