I created a yelp account just to put this review in. This store and the employees are awesome. I spent 5 weeks trying to get a riding mower from Home Depot. It's a long story and I won't go into it, but they will not get another dime from me. This morning I called Waters and found they had the mower I wanted. They had just got it the day before so it wasn't in stock yet so they called someone in to receive it (this is on a Saturday btw.) I went in and bought it. Not an hour later it was delivered topped off on oil and gas ready to go. Delivery was free and they expressed to me that they have on site mechanics if I should have issues with it or need service. (They will come pick it up, fix it, and bring it back.) I am very impressed with the experience and Shawn was extremely helpful. My previous experience with this store was last year when I rented an auger. I rented for 3 days. It started smoking and choking on day 2 so I took it back. They were very friendly and refunded the third day plus extra for my trouble. I can now say that I'm super happy with my experiences at this store. For those that have put up bad reviews, I'm sure that you probably went in with a bad attitude to a person that had no clue of your situation and received a mirrored response. No matter what the situation is if you treat people with respect they will do the same. From now on Waters will get all of my business for home improvement needs. read more

If I could give this business an its employees 0 stars I would. The owner, Rusty, and the manager Mike were nothing but disrespectful. I had ordered a cotton candy machine for a sorority event and they did not give me all the parts to set it up. I called the next day and was given permission by a warehouse employee to keep it an extra day and return in 2 days after I picked it up. However, it still never worked. When I returned it I wanted to let them know about the missing parts even though I had already called a day prior. When Mike came up he accused me of lying and said it was my fault for not calling. He didn't know I had already talked to one of the employees the day before who gave me permission to keep it a day extra. He was hesitant to give me any money back (which is not what I wanted I just wanted better communication) and questioned my intelligence. I am a college student and have NEVER seen a business more poorly ran and managed than this one. When I emailed the owner Rusty about how Mike had treated me he called me and said "well he gave you your money back so what else do you expect me to do." He did not care AT ALL how I was treated and even accused me of being demanding. He blamed me and told me to "get over it, it's a cotton candy machine." Save your money next time. read more

I rented a 50 foot lift from there, we picked it up at 6:30 on a Thursday night they told us that it was charged and that the motor ran,shall we hook onto it we take off by the time I get home I realized the bucket wasn't in the correct position and it was only about an inch from the road which could have caused me and my nephew's to get in a wreck and rip their lift off or flip are vehicle, so then we get to the job they tell us the lift was fully charged it's dead, so then we try to start the motor and the keyhole is broken so you can't turn it on or off, the pull cord was broke so it wouldn't go in and out properly, so we couldn't use the motor,we had to pay a neighbor $40 to use their electricity to plug in the lift,and then it has a self balancer on it we were on a flat concrete surface and has green lights on it if it's balanced and if the lights are off and means it's not balanced,so it said it was balanced so I go 50 feet up in the air and it starts beeping meaning that it wasn't balanced and it should have never been up and lifted me in the air that high if it wasn't balanced because I could have put me in danger where I would have fell, so I repeatedly had to get down and adjust the lift all together we spent two maybe two and a half hours trying to get this live to work properly and we didn't get to finish our job,I call and they say okay instead of having it back at 6:30 on Friday bring it back at 8 Saturday morning, it was already dark and 6:30 we couldn't cut with it it wasn't working properly, the job we were doing had a date to be done by because the city needed the tree down and was going to find the homeowner $4,000 if the tree wasn't removed lawyer fees and possible jail time,so I bring in the Lyft Saturday morning and I point out all the stuff and I took pictures,I paid cash to rent a lift and after talking with them they say they'll refund my money but they won't do it cash that they'll send me a check that will take 3 to 4 weeks in the mail,and then they said they do $100 cash and then the rest on a credit card so I had to ask my brother to put it on his credit card, so then they change their mind and say they'll only put it on the credit card,and then I find out from Mike the manager that it could take a couple weeks to get put back on the card and from my brothers Bank,we had to take that money and go find another Lyft from another company to get the job done by Sunday but now we don't have that money to get another Lyft because it'll be getting hold and take several weeks to get the money.. so then I called the head guy at the rental company spell gerken and the first thing he says to me was I told the lady in Wamego to tell you I'd call you Monday,I already know what's going on and I don't got time for this and I said well I don't have time and he said well that's not my problem and I said yes it is you rent equipment that wasn't safe and your people sent the equipment out with us that night when it wasn't safe and you could have caused us to get into a wreck,then while I'm talking he perceives to tell me to shut up two or three times in mind you this is the boss,and I say how do you know what happen if I don't tell you and he says shut up shut up I'm not going to talk over you shut up,and then I tell him what happened and he says I think you rented the lift used it and then wanted a refund just to get a free lift and I said no I have the homeowners who hired me willing to say the problems with the lived and I took pictures so wouldn't just be my word against yours,and I also record my phone calls with a recording device Kansas is a one person notified recording State you don't have to tell to people,and then he proceeded to tell me I went in the store that morning cussing at people when I had my phone on record which was a lie,and I said why are we going to resolve this because I need that money to go get another lift to get the job done to keep the 78 year old customer out of jail and since your equipment did not work I could not get the job done and he said that was not his problem..and then I asked him if you're a boss do you go around telling people to shut up is that respectful and he said I don't care I couldn't talk because you were talkin...so if I were any of you and you're going to rent something from Waters true value in Manhattan or the rental company that use gerken rental, please heed my advice and don't do it and take pictures of everything if you do rent just like I did but that still won't help you in the long run these people don't deserve to even be in a supervisor position and I even offered him to come by my job and look and show him that the tree wasn't done because the equipment didn't work and he said I can't I don't live in Kansas, show for me standing up for myself I'm never allowed to rent there again and I will post some photos of their supposed equipment that's not broke.. read more

We rented a grill and the customer service was just bad. I had to call multiple times for help with returning. Left multiple messages and didn't hear back. Needed to leave town because of snow coming. Show up at 10 am to return grill and nobody was there. Waited 45 minutes for the manager to finally show up to work. Emergency help line dude was very rude. All around disappointed in Waters. read more

Beyond upset. Was told it was no problem to get a dinosaur inflatable transferred to Manhattan. They lied. Got a call today to see if I wanted to pick something else. Spoke with the manager and he took care of it. And will be getting the dinosaur inflatable. Thank god for managers! Any problems speak to Chris! read more
