BEST EXPERIENCE EVER WITH A CONTRACTOR!! If you think you may need a new roof, this is by far, the BEST company to call to find out the truth! Why did I hire this company? In a nut shell: honesty, follow through, excellent communication, punctuality, quality materials & labor, fair price, & best labor warranty. (They give 10 years., while other companies only given 5 years.) Below is a list of many of my other reasons for hiring this company:
They received tons of 5 star reviews on birdeye.com. Of the companies that I priced, Watkins gave the best price per square on Owens Corning 50 year architectural shingles. They also return all calls. Questions are welcomed & answered WITHOUT defensiveness nor an attitude of impatience. They do free, no-obligation roof inspections with estimates included. The main office answers the phone 24/7, AND has a repairman on-call 24/7 for roofing emergencies. They do NO high-pressure-sales pitches. They were very prompt in sending someone to inspect my roof to see if it did indeed need complete replacement. The gentleman they sent out, Marc Brewer, was very punctual in calling me at the times that he promised, very punctual in arriving at the agreed-upon times, polite, respectful, very thorough in his roof & attic inspection (he caught problems that the previous roof inspector, from another company, did NOT catch.) Marc was also VERY patient in answering all of my TONS of questions, & he made me feel comfortable letting him in my not-so-tidy home. (I have 2 indoor cats.) He loves animals (my kitty loved him too); he was easy to talk to and never acted like a sales person. (I hate dealing with pushy sales people who try to make decisions for you.) He also never told me to get a whole new roof instead of just repairing my existing roof. I liked the fact that he let me make my own decision. He took photos & reviewed them with me, of the problems that existed with my current roof: a little hail damage, shingles that were cut (instead of woven) in a valley, exposed nail heads in several places that would allow leaks, rotten wood in 2 places, and some other issues. (I knew before he came out that: my roof was 14 years old, I was experiencing leaks in 3 places, & that I was not going to be filing this on insurance.)
Marc is a very likable, pleasant, and HONEST sales person (a rarity these days). He is a man of his word and will get back to you promptly with answers to any questions that he may not know the answer to at that time. Ladies you can trust this guy. I came to trust him enough to refer my mother to him.
On roofing day, Seth Boykin, the production/on-site manager, was on time & the crew came within a few minutes after that. They began work immediately, and WOW do they work fast!! Seth is so nice and is also easy to talk to about any concerns or questions. He communicates very well throughout the job and will call you with any issues that arise. The crew got done sooner than expected and did a very thorough and fantastic job of cleaning up ALL debris on my property. You could not even tell that they had been there, other than the fact that they did an amazing job of installing my new roof! I love it!! They even go so far as to knock on the neighbors' doors, on either side of your home, to ask permission to clean up any debris that fell on their properties inside a fenced-in area. There had been a heavy rain the day before, so Seth did not allow any heavy equipment to be placed on the grass, but when one of the vans was backing out of my driveway, the wheel accidentally slipped off the pavement and left a rut in the yard. Seth did a good job of filling it in and was honest enough to call & inform me of the situation. When it was time for Seth to come in and inspect the gas water heater's vent pipe in the attic (to make sure that it had not been knocked out of place because of all of the vibration from the hammering,) he noticed all of the wood splinters that fell onto the hall floor when I opened the attic door. He asked for a broom to clean it up. He also went the extra mile in taping around my gas water heater vent pipe to seal the gap around it. Seth let me know that 1 of my pipe boots didn't come in for installation on roofing day, but that he thought it might come in the next day & would have it installed then. When it did not come in as expected, Seth called to let me know this, instead of pulling a no-call-no-show, like most contractors do. He kept me updated about it and did ensure that it got installed the same day that it came in. I really appreciated his integrity and attention to detail.
