I have personally used this doctor many times over the years and have always found this doctor to be very helpful and compassionate. She takes the time to listen to you and to help solve your illness and associated issues, and she makes you feel that you are a person and not just a name to be in and out as quickly as possible. My only downside with this doctor is her timekeeping often means that she runs late (as she likes to take so much time with each individual patient). Dr Giles is a popular doctor who only works part time, so getting an appointment with her can be difficult at times.

The surgery is centrally located on Bancroft right next door to a chemist which is handy for picking up prescriptions after you've paid a visit. The surgery itself is clean and efficient, with kiddy playthings to amuse them while you wait and their administration is good - sending reminder for vaccinations etc as and when they are due. My only gripe is the telephone booking system - if you need an appointment that day then you need to be on the phone at 8am sharp (not a second before or you'll get the answerphone) to stand a decent chance of getting an appointment.

I have been recommended to Harley Street Health Centre by one of my colleagues. So I booked an appointment with Dr Abood. The consult lasted an hour, and included a chat about my symptoms, when they occur, ear & nose check, blood pressure and also had blood taken. Personally, even though I am in my mid 30's,I am really scarred of the needle, but the nurse was amazing. She distracted me by keeping my mind busy chatting, while she was drawing blood. Offered me water & advised to wait for couple of minutes before I leave. The whole experience was 5*. No rushing or looking at you like you are crazy because your palms & sole is itching at night, weirdly enough. So the next day I got my results. It was not as bad as I thought. Iron & Vitamin D deficiency. Something that can be fixed easily. So glad I went to the clinic, as my nose bleeds and itchyness have been haunting me for years. I am now taking my supplements & feeling much better. Will have another blood test done probably in 3-4 months.

The waiting area is bright, thanks to a glass panelled ceiling, and well laid out. It is surrounded by an open corridor from which the doctor's rooms lead off. There are a few toys and books for children to play with and of course plenty of magazines for adults. The surgery has an easy self service check-in system which reduces the queues at reception. Often only one person on reception though which can still lead to delays. Repeat prescriptions can be made at the surgery or online through their website. You can pretty much always get an appointment with a doctor on the day you phone if you ring early enough (8am) but they can't guarantee you will see your own doctor. Due to this I have seen quite a few different doctors but have found them all helpful and friendly.
