First time coming and it's located in a convenient location off Lincoln Ave with many restaurants and shops. The lobby is nice, spacious and bright. Once you get inside the room. It's clean and organized. The staff is very friendly and do a good job waxing. It didn't hurt that much and it was done quickly. Parking is limited in the garage and it gets full easily during weekends. Plan for extra time to look for parking. Please note that if it's your first time and you look for the street # 1100 on Lincoln Ave, it leads you to the wrong building with locked doors. This place isn't a suite inside the #1100 building. I went next door to the creamery to ask and the workers inside doesn't know where the wax place is at either. Once you find the salon, it only has 150 outside (looks like 150 Lincoln Ave) and nowhere it references the street number of 1100. It would have been nice if they put more correct signs to point people to the right direction, or even add a stand on the walkway to make it more obvious for people not familiar with the area. The way they put the numbers is confusing. After I checked-in, I was told that they sent an email to specify the location and parking situation, which I didn't see it before I left for the appointment. It turned out the email was only sent less than 45 mins before my appt time. That's sent too late. IMHO, It should have been sent at least 24 hours before to give people enough time to read it. It's nice you sent such a helpful email but you can't expect people can read it within such a short time especially when they're driving. read more

Saw a couple locations popping up in San Jose for this place. Opted to try the Willow Glen location as it is closer to my house. I have been an avid EWC goer for years but have found their pricing going up and up. I booked with Mackenzie for a full Brazilian wax. Wow was I surprised at how painless my service was! I'm not sure if the wax used is different but I felt nothing. Mackenzie was also super friendly and made me very comfortable during the service. They offer waxing packages and a pass that offers a percentage off services. The studio was clean and temperature controlled. After such a great experience I might have found my new wax place. If you are coming on a weekend, parking would be a bit more of a hassle, but this is a busy and enjoyable area and you may be coming for more than a wax. (Lunch?) Location!! Right off Lincoln in downtown willow glen next to numerous shops and restaurant. It's easy to find as it's very close to an intersection. It's in the middle of willow glen creamery and El Halal amigos. The establishment was pristine and I was greeted with a smile. My waxer was Faith who was very gentle and easy to talk to. I came in to get my brows cleaned up. I don't need much waxing as my hair doesn't grow much, but I wanted to check out this place for daughter as she has 3x the amount of brow hair. Monica works the front and does check in and she was very sweet. The nice thing about this place is first timers get a 20% discount. That's always nice, as in self care, you never know if you will like a place or not, so the discount helps. The prices were not steep at all and I believe everything was priced just right. She was so polite, kind, gentle, and charming-I felt like she was one of my bffs right away! She was definitely an experienced professional! I came to know of this business when I was volunteering at a Willow Glen event and I won a gift certificate to the place and wanted to try it out. They offer mainly waxing services which I do not use but they also offered eyebrow tinting that got my attention. The place is located on the main street and while there is limited street parking and it's always hard to find a spot, there is covered and uncovered parking behind the building. I have sparse eyebrows and fill them in with Anastasia gel. When I was at the salon during the volunteer event, one of the staff members told me that if I tinted my eyebrows, then I would not need to fill them in. This is without seeing what my actual brows looked like. I took her word for it and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment, I called and asked if I needed to shape my brows (threading) before coming. I was told it would help but it was not needed. The place was not busy when I arrived and I was helped right, the woman who helped me told me each step in the process and that was helpful. But, I was very disappointed in the final result. The tinting is done on existing hair and since I have sparse eyebrows and because I had not shaped them prior to the treatment, my eyebrows were uneven but darker which is not good because it now highlights them even more. I expected more filled out brows and I still have to use the gel because otherwise, I have uneven, thin brows. I went on a Monday and I am writing this review on the following Friday. One eyebrow is already lighter then the other. I am disappointed and would give this place only 3 starts but the people are amazing! read more

This is my first time having brazilian wax in Waxing the City located in Willow Glen. I know this place since Noelle, my friend posted online and she also wrote an amazing review here on Yelp. That made me really want to try. I went straight ahead made the appointment with Amanda, and let me tell you, it was an amazing experience from start to the end. She made me feel comfortable despite my last brazilian wax was almost a decade ago. I chose the Smooth and Soothe Brazilian, and I love having the oil and steam afterwards, it really did smooth my private area skin. The place is very clean and neat from the moment you walked in. Somebody greeted me and I feel welcomed. They also sell some merchandise for you to use at home which I think so useful and the price is cheaper too compared to online. Parking is easy but can be quite busy during lunch or weekend. But I definitely be coming back for other services. read more

I saw Amanada on March 11th for a manzillian. She is personable, calm, efficient and a good consultant for details. We discussed other places to wax for a better look and we agreed on some further modifications. She's also very sensitive, putting powder on some of the more sensitive areas. I've been coming here regularly every 4-6 weeks for Brazilians and have always had a great experience. I've never had any reactions, and my skin is always smooth afterward. It's not completely hairless every time, but the estheticians have explained that this is normal depending on growth cycles, which I appreciate. The service is consistently amazing and everyone is super friendly. I always see Shana, and she makes me feel comfortable, is very knowledgeable, and does a great job every time. They never answer their phones. They also canceled my last appointment since the women either didn't show up or couldn't do it and asked me to come in at a later date. I've also tried to cancel my orange membership- I left a message, but it also says to email, but there isn't an email address to send it to. I have been here twice now since they recently opened and Emma is the best when it comes to giving me perfectly groomed and natural looking brows. Since I have pale skin and red hair, my eyebrows can be nearly invisible and make my face just feel a bit blank without adding color to the brows. Both times I got a brow wax and a brow tint. In the past at other places I have sometimes come out with a crazy shape or a far too dark tint for my fair skin and hair. She got it just right. All the staff I've encountered are welcoming and helpful. The place is immaculately clean, which is obviously important for these types of services. I can admit, I WAS a European Wax girlie, but after trying this place out, I'm like European wax who?!! I've been with them for about a year now, and let me tell you they are 100% better. They don't make you feel as if you need to buy passes and the employees are very friendly. I don't feel rushed during my appointments. Jasmine is an absolute gem! All the waxers are very professional with great personalities. I did get the monthly pass after I looked into it. $60 a month, definitely worth it. I'm very glad they opened up this location. This place does not cater to transwomen. Even worse, when calling to book an appointment I was told "we don't provide services to men". To be clear, I am not questioning the right of a business to refuse service. That is not the problem. But calling me "man" after explicitly identifying myself as a "transgender woman" in the interest of full transparency is incredibly hurtful and leaves a sense that the person I spoke with is a transphobic hater. I have been a Waxing the City patron since the first opening in Denver, CO, and always been treated with respect and decorum at locations in Colorado, Arizona, and California.
