My wife and I stopped here for lunch. The employee we interacted with was polite. Inside the cleanliness did appear to be average. In my opinion I do think they are overpriced a little bit for the amount of food provided. My wife had a burger and fries and I had chicken fingers and fries. My wife said she thought the food was average. My chicken was slightly overcooked and the breading was burnt. I also am not sure if this is a dog friendly restaurant because I did not see anything listed one way or another that would inform us as such but some friends of some of the employees working brought a dog in. I am not against dogs being allowed but after seeing most of the employees that were there go and pet and playing with the dog, I can only hope that they went back and washed their hands. Also, I noticed while they did this it slowed down some of the service for other customers who came in while we were there. Way overpriced for what you get. The "bourbon" burger smelled and tasted like horseradish sauce. There was no hint of bourbon in it. The bourbon burger was small and not worth the $10+ they charged for it. The Classic burger was bigger but lacked seasoning on the patties. The kids meal is $7+ and only gives them 2 tenders and some fries. But the tenders tasted ok. Nothing out of this world but better than the burgers and that's saying a lot considering they were extremely overcooked. The milkshake tasted like they used cheap store brand Oreos. The fries and tatter tots were good too, but it's hard to mess that up when it's just a little bit of salt. My husband and I visited this location literally just this past Wednesday and needless to say we were very satisfied. The burgers here are hit and fresh and even the chicken sandwich was impeccable absolutely juicy in the middle crispy on the outside and seasoned perfectly. I CANNOT forget the homemade milk shakes. My husband had the vanilla and I tried the Oreo milkshake. I'm not a fan of milkshakes but, this took me back to my childhood and the beauty at the register made both milkshakes. They cook to order, which isn't a bad thing. So order from the app of short on time. Burgers include both specialties (Carolina, cheesy, double bacon, original) as well as create your own with many toppings and sauces. Fries include: well, frys. House chips, and my favorite (though rarely eaten) Irish Nachos. Kids meals are $5.29 including a burger, hot dog, grilled cheese, and chicken tenders. Complete with drink and fries. Ice cream we rarely get, but it's good! The burgers are fair. Not great. No real flavor to the meet, but good. My wife likes them. The service right off the bay was terrible, they are short staffed so I tried to give them the benefit but the guy was rather rude and clearly did not like his job much like the other employees. The food was over priced for the small amount you get, ordered a burger that was very greasy and bland with fries that were just ok. We waited 15 minutes for our food which I think is absurd when I can go to any other burger joint that's packed and get it in 10 minutes. When they brought the food out they threw it down on the table and did not ask if we needed anything else or make sure it was what we wanted. Quick, fresh, and friendly environment. We love to come during the lunch times during the week when it's not as busy.

This used to be my favorite go-to cheeseburger spot but unfortunately it's lost it's touch. Quality of food and employees have been lost in this establishment, which is disappointing for new comers to this location. Highly recommend new staffing and better service. Overall is a delightful and delicious spot to eat in but as stated above, no business should be on-going without (on-campus) manger supervision to deliver that 10/10 guests satisfaction. This was only the second Wayback we've been to. We were very, very impressed with the one on Hilton Head so thought we'd give the Summerville location a try. Service was ok but nothing great. I asked for the burger to be medium and the clerk said they had to cook them well done. Not the case from our earlier experience in Hilton but it's ok they're just doing as told. The wait time was about 20 minutes, which seemed long but we understand that they have to go orders etc. Well done on the burger was an understatement. The burger patty was about an 1/8" of an inch thick and was burnt....not just well done. Not juicy at all and I could not get past the burnt taste it left in my mouth. We also ordered onion rings and they were ok. We will not be going back to this location but will try others as we continue to travel. read more

I have tried this place several times because of convenience, each time I leave thinking were hamburgers that flavorless back in the 60's? Am I missing something here? I have tried it their way and created my own. Always the same results, flavorless. I suspect the onion rings come frozen from a bag but the house made kettle chips were pretty good when you add some salt. The two star rating is because the place is clean, service is good (even with a help wanted sign at the register) and staff polite. These 1960 burgers are not worth the money. If I go again, and I am sure I will, remember "convenience" here, I will try a milkshake. read more

The reviews for this place are very harsh. I'd even say that the other reviewers are not clued in to how much McDonald's is for 2 people to get a burger, fries and a drink.
