We are surrounded with tons of diners in a 5 mile radius, but Wayne Hills is my go-to diner because we have never been disappointed. The food is always top notch - no matter what we've had. I've been there so many times and have had everything from breakfast to sandwiches to dinner entrees (at all hours of the night and day) - The service is your typical diner wait staff - they get the point across and are always 'gruffly friendly' - which is what you should expect! I support this diner's decision 100%. If you're going to give your kids money to eat out you damn well better teach them about tipping. If not, that's on you as a parent and it's low class. I am very disappointed. Me and my boyfriend wanted to get crepes tonight so we decided to stay local and come to this diner. I am usually never one to complain but it was just horrible. They charge you so much for a crepe and put barley any Nutella on it. I specifically asked the waitress to make sure they have Nutella on them and we still got barley any. I was fine and just shook it off. I did not want to make a scene over Nutella. The waitress was very nice and told us she would get a manager. I just figured since we showed her how little Nutella we got that maybe they would bring us out a little more. It shocked me to see the owner talking about us two feet away. I watched him say "what do you want me to do about it" which made me feel very uncomfortable. Very rude and he did not even apologize or acknowledge us. This was my first ever visit to Wayne Hills Diner. It was 1pm on a Saturday. I parked at the sign which stated parking only for Palace Diner patrons, it's former name from decades ago. Great staff & friendly service. I'm not a huge fan of diner food but they served it up well. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was yummy. My other table members were happy with their choices. Only 3 stars because I only went here once and i want to go again to see if they are consistently delivering good food in the future. Great Diner, Great Food and Friendly Staff...This is always my go to diner

I moved into the neighborhood a year ago and have wanted to try this diner since. However, the first time I ever pulled into the parking lot, I see a cook or kitchen crew member of some sort spraying the lot with either bug spray or weed killer. Now this wouldn't bother me so much if he wasn't still wearing his apron while doing it. I don't want my food coming into contact with chemicals like that. I love this Diner!!! I frequent this joint at least once a week, whether it's with my family or colleagues. I've been coming here for the last 15 years and my visits have been pleasantly consistent. Their lunch specials are amazing! you get a drink, a choice of their variety of soups and entree for around $12 to $13 with tax and tip. And the food is always fresh and tasty. Their Thursday split pea soup is the best and the creamy soups on Wednesdays are terrific as well, oh and can't forget my 6 yr old son's favorite, which is the cream of turkey on Sundays. I used to get take out here because it's so close to my office, but I have ceased to patronize the Wayne Hills Diner because of what just happened moments ago: The "Manager/Owner" ASKED me to tip him on take-out, as if they're not bending me over enough already with their WAY OVERPRICED FOOD. For about 8 months I have been TOLERATING their food prices since they are nearby, but no longer will I be enjoying their SUB-PAR breakfast items. What I find concerning about this scenario is what lead the manager to this decision to ask for a tip: He either a) doesn't know how the food industry works (if so, what else are they doing wrong?) or b) is looking to capitalize even further on my patronage of his diner, and is just a greedy Ebeneezer Scrooge. He even got pissed off when I only gave him a dollar. Well, I hope he's even more pissed off when he realizes I'll be ordering from down the street instead of eating at his diner 3+ times a week. EDIT: They've addressed the problem. They are a good diner with your average run-of-the-mill food and average quality. This diner has a gluten free menu. With pancakes. And French fries, and hot roast beef with gravy, and chicken fingers! All the diner foods I thought I could never have again, I can have here! The food is delicious, and the service is fantastic. The manager has celiac's, so you know you are safe eating here with even a severe gluten intolerance. Fellow diners have only good things to say about the standard menu, too. And also awesome? They have alcoholic milkshakes! It's really just the best of all diner worlds. read more

I was really disappointed that last time I ate here about two weeks ago. They used to have sweet potato fries that were fresh not frozen or like the fast food restaurant type fries. The omelet I usually get was decent, but the disappointment from the change in those fries makes me not want to go back. Recently took my 85 year old mom for lunch. She requested a table change because the dining room was too cold. We were re-seated in a booth near the counter. While eating, the waitress and hostess stood behind us making fun of old people. Obviously were mocking an 85 year old woman who is sensitive to cold temperatures. I clearly overheard them laughing about what would happen when the new construction across the Hamburg Tpke was completed, and all the old people with their walkers that would be filling the diner. This was my first visit to the Wayne Hills Diner. I found it to be a typical diner, with a layout, menu, and atmosphere typical for a traditional diner. I happened to be there at lunch time, but breakfast menu was still offered, which was nice. The service was good, but nothing special. After the food was served, the waitress stopped at my table one more time to ask if everything was to my liking, but rushed away before I was even able to answer. I ordered 2 eggs over-easy and a turkey burger. The burger was overcooked and very dry, but the eggs were prepared just right. I had a cup of tea, and the water was not hot enough. I don't know why this diner doesn't have a higher rating. The food is always so tasty and the service is friendly and efficient. I love the dinner specials there. My favorite is the lemon chicken dinner. It's under $15 dollars. You get soup AND a choice of different salads, such as garden, Greek, etc., rolls and a full half a chicken, {not a 1/4 like at most places}. It's plated atop some of the most delicious apple stuffing I've ever had. It also comes with vegetables, mashed or baked potatoes, or rice or fries, dessert and coffee. I just had the salmon filet with dill sauce dinner tonight. This is the 2nd time I've had it. Both times it was so tender and delicious. Last time I had one very large piece of salmon. Tonight it was two smaller fillets, still too much to eat, so I have lunch in the fridge for tomorrow. The dessert choices I was offered included Boston cream pie, apple strudel, jello and ice cream. A great thing to try for breakfast is the Florentine omelet, {Feta cheese and spinach}. It's delicious. The breakfast sausages are the big dinner sized ones, and they are very tasty as well. Whatever you order, the portions are always generous. After eating there at least twice a month for years now, I can only recall having one meal that wasn't what I expected, an omelet. I ve been going to this dinner for years, I usually never had any issues until recently. I went there on New Year's Day at around 1pm , I was with some friends and the food was ok. When I went to pay I gave the man at the register my card,he seemed distracted by something. He then asked me if he could see my card again. The man never gave me back my card. So I told him he never gave it back to me so he rudely asked me to check my pockets, so I emptied out my pockets. He looked around the register and then told me he has no idea what happened to my card. At this point I was upset but calm I said ok well I guess I better call up my card company. He said he wanted my information so I can come back and pay for my meal. I then said to him he must be crazy to think I am going to pay him after he gave my card to someone. He then told me to get out and walked around the counter as if he was going to hit me. I've never been treated this way as a customer ever I would never eat here again and I hope you don't too. I've been here probably at least 100 times & find it to be consistently good. The owners are typically friendly & treat me like family. The prices are mostly reasonable. The dinners, salads, sandwiches & appetizers are friendly. They seem to have a lot of regular customers too. I recommend this as a good diner choice especially in an area with so many diners to choose from. I've had Ricky as my waiter many times & he's very attentive. He notices when my water is empty, offers an alternative if I'm not happy with my dinner & is generally interested in providing good service. I'll be back...regularly! read more
