the doctors and nurses at this hospital have been top notch. the issues my Mother and myself, keep running into center around the para professional staff. they act like patients are an annoyance, are incredibly miserable and know it all. I leave wondering why we even go back but we like our drs very much. rude, dismissive and arrogant just about sums it up. I am talking about the individuals that do inpatient/outpatient registration, check in and out for specialists, etc. I do apologize for the staff I have not met but these others do you a terrible disservice. read more

This is the worst hospital in the area. If I was dying I would still go elsewhere. I called 2-3 weeks ago to the urology office to make an appointment for issues I was having, no one answered so I left a voicemail with all the proper information and I NEVER got a call back. Never heard from a single god damn person. Not to mention my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer a year or so ago, and this hospital sent her home from the ER 3 times with excruciating lower abdomen pain, telling her that there was nothing wrong with her. My urologist and my gastro doctor is in this hospital. Just had a colonoscopy there. I had X-rays, ultrasounds, all the people I have dealt with were very professional and did there jobs well. I'm very very happy with the services there. read more

Wow, after 30yrs of being a patient with them and still a bunch of rude people, you can change the appearance of the hospital but you need to replace the employees that just don't care, when you're prepping for a surgery you're already under stress and to have employees treat you just down out right Nasty that's wrong ntm they neglected to do all Pre-admission tests I've had to go back 3x in a week's time because they can't get there crap together. And why are the Employees wearing a mask Under their noses how in the heck is that going to stop the spread of anything. Very very disappointed enough to find a new doctor in a different location. every experience I've personally had; this hospital sucks. saying they don't receive orders when they were clearly faxed, front desk staff is very rude and almost stuck up, nothing in the hospital is clearly labeled and then tell you "just around the corner" when there are no signs NOR people to ask for help.. still haven't received test results when Ive called 4 times and asked them to send results to my prenatal provider. not to mention their social security breach years ago. WTF? What kind of hospital breaches peoples social security numbers (dating a number of months)?? a very unorganized misran hospital on all accounts. would put 0 stars if possible. read more

On Sunday I took my mom to the hospital for chest pain and shooting pains in her foot up to her knee. We arrived at Wayne Memorial Hospital ER at 3:00PM. At 3:35 we're finally brought back to a room and told the doctor will be here any minute. I had told the hospital staff that my mother has severe anxiety - especially at hospitals - and was off her meds due to a mix up at the pharmacy. They assured me a doctor would be in very soon. AFTER AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES, I went to look for a doctor. When I found one and I explained how long we were waiting and asked for a new time estimate on when we'd be seen because my mom was getting very upset, and, again, she was experiencing chest pains, I was *immediately* met with an attitude from Doctor Dahlia Thorpe. Thorpe proceeded to nix off most of my mom's symptoms. They completely ignored the issue with her foot/leg. They took 7 hours to run tests and get the results, and got nasty with us any time we asked for an update. Any time we asked questions the staff acted as if we were out of line for asking. After checking my mom's chest and everything came back fine, they discharged us. Actually, they took so long to tell us the results of the CT scan that a nurse thought we already got the results and told us them *while* discharging her. When I asked about the leg, they told us we would need to come back the next day, on Monday, because she would need an ultrasound AND THE ULTRASOUND TECH FOR THE ER IS OFF ON WEEKENDS. If I didn't ask, when was Thorpe planning on telling me this? We went back on Monday for the ultrasound, for the sake of not starting all the tests over at another hospital. We waited 45 mins in the ER for the US, 45 minutes in the ER for Nurse Jess to bring us into a room for the results, and 1 hour for Jess to come and tell us the results. When we asked if we could leave then, Jess got very annoyed with us and said we had to wait for the doctor to tell us what Jess already told us. I explained my mother's anxiety to Jess and she then proceeded to tell me that I'm in the ER so I should expect to wait. I told her she had 10 mins to get a doctor or we're leaving; my mother is very upset. Thorpe eventually came to tell my mom that there was nothing wrong with her and she could go home, and she went to walk away. I stopped her and asked for clarification and answers for our other questions and Thorpe rolled her eyes at me and asked me "What are you other questions?" She then answered all of my questions with "probably's" and "maybes." When I asked about the chest pain, Thorpe said it was "just anxiety." When I asked about the leg, she said she didn't know why it hurt. After she left and was about halfway down the hallway, I said to my mom "we waited all that time for her to tell us that she doesn't know what's wrong and half the symptoms are in your head." Thorpe turned around and hollered down the hallway, "I didn't say that. YOU said that." Is Thorpe 12 years old? This is a grown woman, a medical professional, and she's going to holler down a corridor and argue with a patient? I have never dealt with such nasty, incompetent staff at a hospital. This behavior was absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional. And on top of all of that, the hospital is downright filthy. There was smeared dried blood on my mom's floor on the first night. The baseboards looked like there was some brown sticky stuff all over it. And there was thick dust everywhere. My mother said she would rather die than ever go back there. read more

Great hospital. Top Quality ER/Anesthesia/Ortho teams. If I ever have an ATV accident while hunting this is the place I want to be! Nursing staff on all shifts are awesome. My dad received caring hospice care here. The room was clean as well as his gown and linens. The staff rolled a cart with refreshments when my wife and I visited my dad. The staff treated him well for his last days. read more

Sent there for test on a weekday morning. Nasty large women at desk. All I wanted was directions to radiation area. She was almost hostile. When I got to testing area I found out that the techs were not Wayne memorial employees but some scabs from God knows where, and I asked if they took Aetna and they said we can give you the test and let you know later ! I left and had my doctor schedule the test at Geisingers. The people there were helpful and friendly. They answered all questions before any tests. The facility was spotless. I was in and out in no time. That's where I will go from now on. read more

If I could rate this hospital a 0 I would. I was pregnant and decided to go through Wayne Memorial so that i could go back to my primary doctor. This was my first pregnancy and they weren't very clear with me at all and they got very mad when I kept coming in. They pushed off everything I said from leaking fluid, to having contractions. I went the night before I went into labor and they sent me home. The next morning I woke up at 4:30am in full blown labor. That Wednesday before I went into labor they said that just because I'm young I'm trying to make it so they keep me and induce my labor and that I was basically being over dramatic with it. I don't recommend this hospital. There are some staff members that are truly nice and actually care, but then there are some that really hate their job and you can tell. read more

I unhooked him from the machines so he can go to the bathroom and no one came to check on him 4. Was involved in an accident and rushed to the ER a few months ago. With broken bones, I fished out my insurance information, provided all of my information, and signed the forms... that should have been it, as my insurance company should have been billed and taken care of the rest like every other hospital and doctors' office. However, this isn't the case with Wayne Memorial Hospital, and that one night has now become months long saga of endless bills from several third party outside entities (Radiology companies, doctors office from Miami, etc). From what I was told, Wayne Memorial Hospital provided someone else's (a completely different patient's) insurance information to all of these entities. During my hospital visit, I was left unattended with no call button and no pain medicine for several hours in the ER. I ended up taking myself to another hospital a few days later, and that hospital informed me they needed to preform surgery as soon as possible, and that hospital worked with my insurance with no headaches and got me on the long road towards my recovery. Wayne Memorial did not x-ray what I told them were hurting, even though the entire area was completely black. It turned out that the bone was broken - yet they insisted on running several tests on areas that I told them were fine and I had no pain. I have since come to find out - the hard way, that this hospital farms out everything to several third party entities. None of them were provided the correct insurance information, nor the reason for the tests they ran. But, EVERY ONE of these third party entities are now hunting me down to pay thousands of dollars. I have provided my insurance company with all of these bills, the whole giant stack that flooded in. My insurance has called these health care entities several times, and I have been on the phone at least a half dozen times trying to sort out this mess. It is still not resolved, bills from this one night in the ER are still flooding my mailbox months later, endless long calls with my insurance company, who calls these third party entities trying to resolve these bills. It is a nightmare, worse than the accident, the surgeries (THANKFULLY NOT DONE BY WAYNE MEMORIAL), and even the whole long recovery process. Much of this could have probably been avoided had Wayne Memorial not provided some random person's automotive insurance to all of these third parties they farm out the work to. Be forewarned, you're better off NOT going to this hospital, and traveling as far as medically possible for actual care. By going to Wayne Memorial, you can look forward to a hospital visit where you are suffering in agony for hours completely unattended and then the headache of dealing with mountains of bills from several different health care providers that you don't even remember dealing with for a night you laid in a bed, alone by yourself in horrible pain, with no one checking on you for hours at a time, no pain medicines. But unlike the lackadaisical "care" they provide, they and their third parties care providers they farm out to, certainly know how to rush to bill you for insane amounts of money that not even World Renowned hospitals in major cities charge. read more

Hands down the most disturbing, incompetent hospital around. DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANY REASON! They have been responsible for many, many unnecessary deaths, I was there a few years ago and they tried to give me "my insulin" twice on a single overnight stay....I am not diabetic, my roommate was who was checked in the same time as me. To say they are negligent would be a HUGE understatement. As a community I would gladly sign up for any activity, campaign, whatever to have it shut the hell down. Another disappointing experience with a curt, disinterested Rent-a-Doc. If you aren't actively DYING, be prepared to be stuck in a back room for hours. Oh, yeah, and a nurse came in 4 hrs after we arrived, asking if the pain medicine was working. Only problem was no one had offered pain medicine in the first place. Was here a few days ago with my step daughter to get blood work. The phlebotomist Shawn was just the best with her. Kept her smiling while he told her jokes. She didn't even know the needle was in and was done in a flash. Highly recommend going when he is there. read more

I wouldn't recommend this hospital if it was the last one on earth, the staff especially in the ER department are the rudest and most incompetent people I have ever seen. Parts of me believes they don't even have real licenses. My husband went in with chest/Rib pain after a work accident but he also started getting a wet constant cough, labored breathing and shortness of breath. You could hear his breathing from 2 feet away but his nurse practitioner AMANDA GREER-ARTHUR with a stethoscope apparently didn't hear anything. He told his nurse he was coughed up blood on 2 separate occasions. All they did was a X-ray of the ribs and completely ignored all other symptoms. She said his ribs were fine and to put ice and lidocaine patches. She did no tests, swabs, she didn't even take his temperature. We are worried after the accident to his ribs he might have developed a pneumonia of some sort. When we asked for more respiratory tests to be done she refused and said she is not doing it. She got a bad attitude, started to talk loud and clap her hands at us. We requested to see the doctor and again were denied. She is dangerous and is jeopardizing patients lives by not taking them seriously. She needs to have her license taken or behind a computer doing paperwork she should not be seeing patients. We will be filing a formal complaint with the hospital as well read more

I am very ambivalent about this hospital. I think some of the staff is great but others are rude and unprofessional. I am a nursing supervisor and I would NEVER treat a patient's family member like I've been treated. Providing acute care is very stressful but be the professional you're supposed to be. And Wayne Memorial administration, how about teaching your staff some desculation skills? Some of your ER staff does not know how to deal with psych patients. Sooner or later, you will have the Dept of Health knocking at your door and maybe you should. There are standards of care that are required for acute care facilities. It was against my better judgment to allow my family member to be taken to Wayne Memorial and my experience has met my expectations completely. I'll do my best to make sure there's no opportunity to repeat this experience. read more

This hospital has lost my clothing, tried to send me home after an accident telling me I was "fine", and claimed my urine tests come back fine (my pee was litetally BLOOD), watched a man next to me practically beg for water. True experiences. Friend had severe low back pain for a while, but it started radiating to his sides and front. He could no longer stand the pain, entered the emergency dept. doubled over in tears. Admissions did not offer him a wheel chair, he had to walk in to the bed area. He waited 3 hours while other patients came and left. Young, white male tech came to take him to xray and made him walk down the hall doubled over. He asked for a wheel chair and the tech told him 'its not far'. They took several conventional xrays and he sat another 1 1/2 hours till someone came and gave him a pain pill and told him he had sciatica and to see his primary care doctor. Well it turns out the pain was a fracture in his lower spine caused by CANCER which had spread to his back and also his lung. IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY, GO TO CMC, GEISINGER OR ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. It doesn't get any more incompetent than this. Should've invested the money they spent on building 'private suite' building on hiring competent, caring staff. A family member was admitted to a floor in that private suite building. A tall black male tech came to take blood. he couldn't get blood and hurt her by continuing to 'stick' her. After he finally got blood, she was bleeding all over the bedsheets. he didn't put any bandaging on the wound he made and told her it would eventually stop. She called the nurse after it didn't stop and they cleaned the area, bandaged it and changed her bloody bedding. Another incident she asked a large black nurse for another bottle of water and the nurse picked up the empty bottle, unscrewed the top with her bare hand and took it to the faucet where everyone washes their hands and filled the bottle up and screwed on the top. My relative just left the bottle where that nurse placed it and asked the next nurse who came in the room for more water and she brought her 2 fresh SEALED bottles. This person now goes to Geisinger/CMC in Scranton for her needs. read more

I can't stress enough, if you can get to a different ER then DON'T GO HERE! I came in with severe pain at just before 9pm and never received pain meds until 4 hours later. They just let me lay there! I never left the hospital until 3am and I have a feeling I would have been waiting even longer if I hadn't yelled at them because 5 minutes after I got nasty with them, the doctor came and discharged me. A few hours after arriving home I woke up in pain again... Only this time it was much worse. The pain had spread from my stomach into my back and I was actually crying tears. I was left with no choice but to return to this horrendous ER. In hopes that maybe since the day crew was on, I wouldn't be sitting there so long. I was definitely in and out a lot quicker this second time but the care was no better. From the moment of my arrival I had told them that my back was killing me and I never got an answer what was going on. Just a prescription for tons of percocet. I asked the nurse if they could find out the reason why my back was hurting so badly and he responded with "you came in with stomach pain?" I told him no that my back hurt and that's why I came back. He then responded with "well I don't see any reasoning" and discharged me. I have been in pain for the last five days. Just waiting for my appointment tomorrow with my primary physician. My experience at this ER was so unsettling. I didn't feel safe or heard. I have been a nervous wreck knowing that they released me without know what was really wrong. read more

Had a catherization done and they could not reach to put a stent in so Dr. Resnick used a angioplasty. Got me from 95% blockage down to 65% blockage. I asked them to go thru the hand because i am alone and have to drive myself, they refused, They did not knock me out but gave me a local and went in thru my groin area. I have had this done in the past 3 times and also had bypass. It was the most painful experience in my life. I was jumping and moaning to the point of tears in my eyes. Why would this doctor put me thru this. They gave me 3 doses of local could they not tell from my reaction that i was in massive pain? Why did they continue, i feel bad for the technicians that saw me go thru this. read more

Do not go to this hospital unless you have absolutely no other choice. The care you receive from the minute you arrive is horrible. From registration that is incompetent, I asked if the hospital accepted my insurance and to please check if emergency room visits were covered fully, they assured me that it was covered and that it was a minimal deductible that would be out of pocket for me. I received a bill from the hospital for $940 out of pocket for me, when I called my insurance they advised me that it was because of the codes that the hospital had charged the insurance. But this is not gripe about the charge, it has to do with uncaring nurses and attendants and the hours of waiting time, even though there were only two other patients and a total of 1 other person in the emergency room. Go to another hospital if at all possible ! read more

Just because I can't give 0 stars or negative stars I had to rate them with 1 star. My girlfriend and I went to Wayne memorial hospital last night at about 1am, she was having severe muscle spasms and in extreme pain and discomfort. First we where called into triage where a pregnant nurse was going to do her vitals. While trying to take her blood pressure my girlfriend's arms went through a series of spasms during which the nurse got very aggressive and yelled " I'm pregnant and if you don't stop twitching and hit my stomach we are going to have major problems". This woman should not be cleared for work at a HOSPITAL working with patients who can't control they're movements and threatening them because she's pregnant. Our second problem with this horrible place was our doctor, right off the bat this man was very negative. My girlfriend at this point could barely speak or hold her head up and when questioned by the doctor she was responding very slow, the doctor immediately got nasty and snippy and said " if your not going to talk I'm not going to attempt to help you". I filled the doctor in on what's happening to her and all this man seemed to care about was telling me that he was not going to give her anything to help with the spasms or the pain that came with them. He treated us like a pair of junkies who fabricated this story just to get drugs and when I called him out on this he got very defensive and rude, every time he came back all he said was that he wouldn't give her anything and that he wasn't going to help her if she wouldn't talk or stop the spasms. By this time my girlfriends anxiety was so bad that she was screaming and crying that she wanted to go home and that she didn't want to be in this hostile environment any longer, I had the doctor return to the room and sign her out which he was very rude and snippy about also. I wouldn't recommend going to Wayne memorial hospital to anyone unless you enjoy long waiting times and rude people at every turn. They are in desperate need of a completely new staff, ones who at the very least care about they're patients and are not blatantly rude and cruel to people. read more

The ER is ridiculous. I would give negative stars if I could. If you get Sara Gallagher as your NP, I suggest leaving immediately and going elsewhere. I was told that all of my tests came out "fine" and "great," and I was just sent home without any help at all. When I went home, I logged into my account in the hospitals online portal, and the results showed a terminal illness! Apparently it wasn't enough of an "emergency" for me to be notified, even though the symptoms I went to the ER for were being caused by this illness. My primary care doctor gave me some medication and referred me to a specialist- things that could have been easily done in the ER if they had cared at all to do their job. Make sure to use the online portal to review your test results, because you cannot rely on these "practitioners" to tell you anything. I never even got to see a real doctor. read more

I was an uninsured Veteran and now I owe a collection agency 7 grand because Wayne Memorial confirmed I had a kidney stone. I'd rather have kept the 7 grand and never knew what it was. Thanks Wayne Memorial! I'm broke but at least I can sleep at night knowing the kidney stone pain I felt was a kidney stone. Keep up the good work! read more

I had a UTI and it caused my Ms to freak out the hospital sent out an ambulance the ambulance people tested me for covid I came up negative but for some strange reason when I got to that stupid hospital all of a sudden I had covid I had been put into a room all by myself and ignored all day nobody came in I never saw one doctor I was there for over a week they shipped me home and within 24 hours I had been brought back again because I had no help with my walking because the UTI caused my Ms to act up but they refuse to let me see a neurologist, they bragged about how they found covid in me yet I didn't sneeze once I didn't cough I didn't show signs of covid I don't know where they got that there are a bunch of liars then when my neurologist finally got information on my records over there we had to sneak that out of a nurse that showed concern not many of those over at that hospital stay away from that place they're horrible they won't get send my records to my neurologist when I finally got something from them it said that I had bronchitis that was such a lie that was the big lie compared to having covid then I could not get into a regular rehab because they said I had covid I didn't have covid what's wrong with these people? A lot of the nurses were very kind however there were a few that were nasty than anything you don't want to go to that place go to another hospital Lehigh valley is a good one but don't go to that one I give them one star read more

I would like to thank all the staff in the ICU unit at Wayne Memorial Hospital!! All the staff, especially Patricia Kuller have went above and beyond to help my mother, and still are!
