The pizza absolutely redeems this place. 100%. When you first walk in to pick up your order, the place seems dated and a little dirty. The last time I went in, I asked the young girl at the front counter if she could look up my order and her exact words were "I dunno, I just answer phones" and she straight up turned and walked away....honestly, it was almost funny. Wow, I could not believe the customer service that my boss had experienced with the crabby lady that answered the phone. They delivered our order in the am. IT WAS WRONG. A call was made right away (no answer) as well as an e-mail was sent. Finally someone answered and her reply when we said that the order was wrong and that we had people in our office that could not eat meat or bacon, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT? Ummmm, well let's start with, maybe you should go back to bed, take a few hours to nap and wake up with a better attitude. Who in their right mind responds like that? She said we should of called. We did, no answer. We also sent an e-mail. She says oh we don't check e-mail. SMH. Really? My word. What about, I am sorry and let's fix this by giving you a credit for a correct pizza on your next order seeing they were in the wrong. She's a real gem I tell ya. I'm sure people just love that attitude when they talk to her. Take my advice lady and work 3rd shift somewhere because you don't deserve to work with the public during day hours. I've been coming here since I was a little kid. Always order the thick pizza special and those two slices of grease and cheese never let me down. It's delicious, honestly. The cheese is almost always gooping over the edges and it's usually really difficult to finish both slices due to how big and filling they are. Their other food is good too. Just what I like! We received a recommendation from a co-worker who told us this place was the only place to order pizza in the Grayslake area, and that it was still his top fav even while living in Chicago. We ordered a sausage and pepperoni pan pizza and some bosco sticks for pickup. The crust was exactly how I like it (soft and doughy with just enough crust), not too much sauce (even though the sauce was delicious), decent amount of meat toppings, and the bosco sticks totally hit the spot! We really liked that this joint had an old school oven! The second time we ordered, however, we ordered delivery. They said it would take an hour, and when the clock started getting closer to the hour they called to let us know that they might just be a bit later than originally estimated - which is fine, it was just nice to get a call to let us know! However, the delivery boy must have been in a rush because when we opened our pizza box, all the toppings were thrown to one side! Plus there was WAY too much cheese for our liking. Still love the place, but next time we'll make sure to say less cheese and we'll pick it up! read more

We decided to order from here after seeing the good reviews and were UNpleasantly surprised. We ordered 3 different thin crust pizzas. The crust was extremely chewy on 2 of the pizzas and the third was cooked well. There was nothing special about the pizza regarding the sauce or toppings. Terrible service. Older lady working there was an absolute terror to deal with. Ordered a bunch of food and they ended up covering the wings in hot sauce when I asked for it on the side. Accusing me of lying and that I never said anything about the wings being naked, the lady finally aggravatedly went to remake the wings and by the time this was all done our fries were soggy the gyro and beef were cold the beef was beyond dry. I've had the pizza before and it's nothing special.besides it being pretty cheap it has nothing going for them. I'm surprised they're still in business. Alot of young kids and parents with kids and sports team go there because it's a cheap local place. Well, finally.. we found the best pizza we have had in Illinois. Tried em all around here. Got so tired of the weird cheese (one bite the whole topping comes off in a clump)- that pie crust (not deep dish/just crackery crust) typical around here for some reason.. so we stuck with Dominos (I guess best of chains or at least consistent) Well... I like Wayne's Pizza and I have never ordered a full pizza from them. I usually get some type of slice combo deal, ie a thin and thick slice with a drink for around $5. I dont know how much of a deal this actually is but every time I get it, I like it as the pizza is very good. They have at least 2 locations, the other in Lindenhurst on 45, and this is the older of the ones I know very near CLC. Inside consist of a counter to order from and a few booths and tables with a few tables outside during summer. I have no idea what a full pie would cost and I know they have other menu options other than pizza but I always get the slice deal and come away satisfied. The ice cream part to me is irrelevant as I dont like sweets. read more

Great pizza, especially thin crust. Only place in the area that has figured out that mushrooms shrink when you bake them. When you order from them, the finished pizza is brimming with mushrooms. SORRY ITS SO LONG BUT THIS ALL NEEDS TO BE SAID!!!!! First of all and what makes this even more upsetting is that the thin crust pizza here is outstanding! Now that being said we all know how customer service can completely make or break everything. Last time we picked up a pizza from Wayne's there was an older man working the register and a few teenagers in the kitchen. As we waited for our pizza to finish we watched the teen boy tossing the pizza dough then using his finger through the dough to scratch his nose. As he continued to toss that same dough,my boyfriend and I laughed and told the old man manager who then laughed and said "high school kids" and told the boy to get a new dough. Then a few minutes later we watched the teenage girl in the kitchen drop a mozzarella stick on the ground. It actually landed in the teen boys foot who then tried to kick it to his hands, which he failed and it landed on the ground, the teen boy picked it up, blew it off and ate it. We got our pizza and laughed the whole way home. Now tonight we ordered another extra large thin crust pizza. We walk in to pick it up and the same old man is working the register. Before we walked in we saw through the window that same old guy with his entire leg all the way inside the garbage can pushing the trash down. So we go to pay for the pizza and had a $3.00 off coupon online on my phone. The man says in a very rude, arrogant and condescending tone how I have to print it. He kept saying No, print it and then kind of looked at my boyfriend shaking his head saying "these women" and proceeded to tell me that I have to print it because that's the only way they get paid from the government. Haha that is the biggest load of BS I have ever been told. So we go to leave and I asked for a few Parmesan cheeses and red pepper flakes for our extra large pizza. He charged me 25 cents for each one. $1.07 total. What the F*CK is that crap! Not only have I worked in the industry for 12 years and currently do but we are huge pizza eaters. We have dined in and carried out pizza all over our whole lives as well as our fiends and family! NEVER EVER ONE TIME HAVE ANYBODY BEEN CHARGED FOR PARMESAN CHEESE AND RED PEPPER FOR THEIR PIZZA!!!!!!!! That is a condiment that sits on the tables at every pizza place known to man and if you carryout your pizza it is given to you. If it is not automatically given to you there is a large to container to take some or you ask and they gladly give you some! This old man took my dollar for the pizza condiments and then took change from the "give a penny take a penny" and said "I'll take care of the 7 cents"!!!!! From working in the restaurants and customer service for many years I'm am appalled at these outrageous experiences. I sure hope that rude old man isn't the owner because that would be a shame. As for whoever the owner is you should be disturbed and concerned about the way business is being conducted because your product is absolutely delicious. Take some courses on customer service and get some health class certifications because CNS would shut you down. read more

Thin crust is top notch. When I'm craving, and I usually am, Wayne's is my first choice. Service is very friendly and fast. Prices are very reasonable in terms of what you're usually paying for a pizza at some of these other places. They're always honest on times. I've ordered more times than I can count on a few hands combined, and never one mistake! I've never checked out the ice cream parlor, but that may be because of the time of day I go. I usually get a za for dinner and not lunch. One of these days I'll grab some and add that portion to my review. Great one stop shop for dinner and desert! read more

Wayne's pizza used to be good. In the past year or so, they reduced the amount of sauce to the point that there is barely any there. (Probably to save money). Then they doubled the amount of oregano to make up for the lack of tomato flavor, to the point that it now tastes salty, but It's just oregano overkill, not salt. Result: a dry crunchy crust, with little or no sauce and salty oregano flavor. It's a shame because I know Wayne made better pizza than this. read more

Offering a variety of pizza crust thicknesses and whole pizzas as well as by the slice, I love their thin crust style pizza, but with just a few select toppings so to be able to really taste everything. And the taste is so good that it keeps me coming back for the same menu selection every time. Their 'thin' crust is thin and crispy, yet strong enough to support the toppings. Their sauce is slightly sweet, the cheese is buttery, stringy and flavorful, but not heavy or greasy. Their sausage is plentiful on each slice and I can clearly taste the oregano and fennel seed. Despite the flavors of each of the toppings, I can still taste the crust (which I feel is important- gotta be able to taste the 'bread'). I feel it is both a delicious and proportionately balanced thin crust pizza. There are lots of good pizzerias in the US but I feel Wayne's is a little more unique than the average and a little more memorable than most. Wayne's offers lots of sandwiches, sides, salads, appetizers and other fare, but embarrassingly I have never strayed and tried any of them... I keep coming back for their thin crust sausage pizza! read more

We ordered carryout. We get home, and the Bosco sticks I ordered were so burned the cheese wasn't even in them anymore. When my husband called the manager argued with him about them not being burned and that was they way they were supposed to be. We've ordered Bosco sticks from plenty other places and I know that's not what they're supposed to be like. He went as far to tell my husband to bring them back and if he decided that they were in fact burnt they would consider giving us a replacement. This place has horrible customer service. I am never eating here again and there is a reason why we have avoided them for so long I guess. read more

I grew up in Chicago. I know how pizza should be. Chicago pizza is *not* thick bread with tomato sauce and cheese!!!! There are two kinds of Chicago pizza, deep-dish and thin crust. Thin crust requires more than a crust rolled thinly. The crust needs to crunch without having a cracker consistency. The sauce and the cheese need seasoning, and not a mere pass at the oregano and basil. The oil from both the sauce and the cheese should drip in yummy anticipation. Wayne's exceeds the expectations of Chicago thin crust. The smell alone brought back childhood memories!!!! While I couldn't taste it, family and friends swore I was missing the taste treat of the decade. Wayne's also carries a variety of other foods and meals. The Italian beef is excellent, even without the bread. The prices are reasonable. You might have to wait on Friday evening, and thoughout Saturday. Be patient. It is worth it. read more

Wayne's is *the* best around. Two slices your choice (and a medium drink) of thin, thick or one of each for just about five bucks. it's a great deal. I normally get a large fry ($1.99) as well to fill up on and i am always pleased leaving Wayne's. I will be back time and time again because this thin crust pizza is perfect. The crust is so thin, and it stays crispy unlike most places where it starts to get soggy and just not good eats. I think it's their sauce that gets me though, it's so tasty! Just moved to the area and called Wayne's for a delivery order. I found on yelp and it was only 2.5 miles away. The girl on the phone said she wasn't sure if they delivered there until 10 minutes figuring out where I lived. I told her I could just come pick it up that would be okay. I let her know we had just moved in and didn't have anything in our house and she demanded I print a coupon. She said I would not be able to show her a picture of it on my phone. I let her know she could just cancel my order and I would go somewhere else and she said okay have a nice day. I don't think the owner would appreciate them giving away business that easily. read more

Slices are a wonderful edge over other local pizza joints. I recommend the pizza highly, but the sandwiches and whatnot are nothing to get to excited about. 2 thin slices and a fountain drink you can refill for under $5 makes this a very popular lunch spot for the local blue collar folks. read more
