This shop is one of my favorites when I go back to Massachusetts to visit. The shop is conveniently situated next to the Wayside Country store. The shop looks small from the outside but has rows and rows of colorful fabrics to choose from. There are tons of sewing supplies, sewing machines to buy, and they also service machines. Lots of free parking in front of the shop. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable which makes deciding what to pick much easier. Downstairs is where sewing classes are held. I spent the afternoon participating in National sew in day with WAYSIDE SEWING and came from Albany NY to do it. The staff is exceptional and educated and help you to succeed at sewing and being creative! I came to Weyside's open sew classes on Wednesday mornings over the summer and learned so much. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I went from barely knowing how to use a sewing machine to pretty much completing a large complex quilt in just two and a half months of weekly class time. They have a great selection of gently used sewing machines for sale at reasonable prices and good variety of fabrics/other sewing supplies. If I didn't have to move out of state for school I would still be there on a weekly basis. read more

Never experienced such poor customer service and rudeness as I did when visiting this store. Very rigid with their return policies, not willing at all to work out an equitable solution. So instead of working out a compromise and being so rigid I will never frequent this business again. You would expect more when paying THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for a sewing machine and accessories. I don't really sew much, but I do have a machine and do use it to make repairs and do small craft projects. So when I broke the last of my machine needles and needed some advice about needles for another project I was trying, a friend recommended I go to Wayside. They were very helpful and steered me in the right direction. When I got home, just out of curiosity I looked up the needles on Amazon. Wayside's price was better. What a nice surprise. read more

I am not the person who writes reviews, especially bad ones. My terrible experiences with organization compels me to warn unsuspecting customers so they can avoid the same problems that I have had. Unsuspecting, I bought a "gently used" Bernina from them that had been "cleaned" in preparation for resale. It worked for a short time but all kinds of sensor issues began to appear. I called to inquire about getting the certificate of purchase from the original owner so that I could send the machine to Bernina and get repairs done under warranty. I had the most unpleasant discussion. In the meantime I left a treasured machine with Wayside Sewing for a cleaning and bobbin repair. Like another person who left a review, I was told 2 weeks, which stretched into five. When I complained, my machine was "ready" the next week. I paid $90 and the bobbin issue had not been resolved. I looked for and found a wonderful sewing machine repair shop in Acton, Daley by the Yard. I brought them my "repaired" Viking only to learn that my machine had never been touched. They cleaned and repaired it. I then brought the Bernina to them. Given the list of problems, they shipped it back to Bernina USA, who ultimately replaced damaged parts, including a hook sensor that had been broken and super glued back together. Circuit boards, sensors, and a cable, all inaccessible to folks not trained in how to open these machines, were replaced. Much of this work was done at no charge. It took FOUR HOURS for the technicians to repair the damage done by a hack. The price at Wayside for Bernina parts is significantly higher than the cost of the parts sold by Daley by the Yard. It might be a bit longer drive to Acton than Marlborough, but you will be dealing with lovely, professional, knowledgeable, and reputable people. read more

Sewing machine service leaves a lot to be desired. When I called to inquire about machine service I was told by MaryAnne that the time frame was two weeks. When I got there with the machine I was told by Jill that it was three weeks. I called at three and a half weeks and found that the machine hadn't been touched and someone would get back to me after speaking to the technician, no one did. I called back 4 days later and was told that the technician was working on the machine and that they couldn't read his notes. i explained that this was costing me money as I had comissions and the gentleman said "a broken machine is a broken machine." Up to the time I brought it , the machine was working and I was quilting quilts. It needed some work but it wasn't broken! read more

My experience started with looking for a bobbin case for my machine. None could be found anywhere, so I had them order me a couple. With talking to Jill on the phone she offered to try to get me sewing if I brought my machine to her, it is over an hours drive to her store, but no one else offered any kind of help. So I took a ride out to their beautiful store and Jill immediately was able to help me and got my machine working. Could not believe how extremely helpful and knowledgeable she was. Not only did she help me with my machine, but also showed me some stabilizers for my embroidery but also gave tips on how to handle problems I was having. I sincerely wish I lived closer!!! Her classes and block of the month projects were very interesting. I cannot say enough about this store. She helped me knowing that I probably was not going to be a customer that would be shopping in her store often, but you can be assured that I will certainly make as many trips as I can to this wonderful store.
