On the day of the show we lined up outside for a few minutes and quickly and efficiently went through the security process. We were seated quickly . The show was 30 minutes and went by so quickly. After the recording Val Warner and Terell Brown stayed for pictures with each audience member. I T was a fun experience and is always interesting to watch a TV show in progress.

The sharpness of Pam's coordinated wardrobe is trumped only by the incisiveness of her reporting: she once simulated falling hardware from the 'L' structure by dropping a huge nail on a cantaloupe from 20 feet up. Number Two: Channel 2's salacious teasers and vapid reporting look splendid in 1080p. The station has taken a cue from crime television and each of their promos spots lure viewers to find out what happens with crystal clear video and dramatic narration. While many of CBS 2's stories are ridiculous--I can't count the number of times I've seen Dorothy Tucker do stories that involve a trip to Walgreen's--you've got a front row seat and a crystal clear view of Chicago's latest scams and deals. Number Three: Walter Jacobson's back. Walter offers his Perspective on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and he has yet to re-master the teleprompter or offer any real insight into current events. At this point, Walter is more Andy Rooney than Mike Royko. Number Four: Kristyn Hartmann. What planet is this woman from? Where did she learn to speak English with those remarkably unique inflections. It's all very dramatic and she's at her best during the post-segment banter with Rob Johnson. With the recent departure of Anne State, there's only one strangely hyper-emotive female reporter. And this one is perfect.

Upon entering NBC tower we were checked in and all by security with a metal detector all of our bags/belongings. Please remember to pack light so the line can move quicker. You can see all the shows posters they taped from the news, entertainment, Steve Harvey, and Judge Mathis. After security check-in we went up the elevator to the waiting area where we received donuts and water. They call out your name in the order it was received and you form a single file line as you enter the studio. The set was beautiful all jazzed up (shades of purple) for mothers day week. The taping took a while to start like an hr or two to behind so we were watching old episodes of his show which were funny. I can tell you he looks better in person. Be prepared to move, dance, wiggle to get the energy flowing prior to taping. While taping he is so funny and energetic!! His staff was fun, lively, and enthusiastic. Sad to say you will be missed, this is his last season in Chicago but good luck Steve Harvey and crew onto bigger and better things!

I have never had difficulty finding street parking, finding the door to enter can be confusing and you have to ring a doorbell then wait for someone to buzz you inside. I LOOOOOVE the inside of JBTV, so much music history and acts have graced this place/stage. I mean they have a wheelchair signed by one of my hero's, Layne Staley. They usually have free drinks and some light snacks since you stand around for a bit while they get everything ready for the live recording that will eventually be aired on public television, so exciting!! Looking around at all the old music memorabilia is always a fun time. Jerry is the man, suuuuuper super friendly and has been doing this for as long as I can remember. If you ever get a chance to attend a live performance here do it!

Since this station is on the left side of the dial, there's no real commercials on here- it truly serves the community with the occasional public service announcement. Plus, they talk about things that other radio stations won't or can't have the time to discuss. The celebrate all the local holidays, and have some in-depth discussions on all things Chicago. If you don't like the music on here, give it an hour, and the DJ will change, and they'll put something else on. This morning, I woke up jamming to Tupac with them.
