There are a lot of older low reviews that are about specific things - things that have improved since then. I find the station is better at educating. Still missing the boat on choral works though. (Also, I'm not surprised 2020-2022 was a slump.) read more

The only time this station plays anything new or interesting is when most people are asleep, in the middle of the night. Otherwise, programming is a steady diet of re-runs. The rich vocal and choral literature is totally ignored. There is almost no edyifing commentary about the selections, other than who the performers are. During the earliest part of the day, the announcer seems to think we're interested in what the local sports teams are doing, what celebrity is celebrating a birthday, and other nonsense. She is usually followed by a over-the-top ingenue, who employs a 2 octave range to gush about everything. I can't change the station fast enough. A steady decline over the past ten years has completely lost my support. read more

the music choices and "very warm and friendly" radio personalities are extremely welcoming, any time of day! laura caro is always top notch! i do wish however, they "didn't " become "sooo liberal" in thier sponsorships, and endorsements concerning , so many causes! lgbqt, etc... enough is enough! stick to the music! please do "away", with all these various "liberal " movements! wcrb should(and always was), strickly about classical music as it's "intended"! why does it have to be at the center of liberal/ anti christian movements! the station would receive "alot" more donations, if it would focus on the music, and "nessasary " causes, and "not" liberal ones, that are negatively effecting our world. read more

I and everyone else I know who likes classical music is appalled by this station's programming. In short, the same old, same old, same old selections. Turn ON and invariably turn OFF. PLEASE, NOT THAT AGAIN! There is so much classical music and early music available that listeners never hear. Oddly enough, from midnight to 5:00 AM the station plays many selections never heard during the day. Years ago the station used to educate. Seems it's now hard to post a review. I was surprised, as a recent California visitor, that I had to add the above station to write a review. Anyway, I was a tourist to Boston from March 8 through 12, and enjoyed this, my first visit. I've already emailed the station (classical format) directly this AM to tell them just how much they enhanced my enjoyment by "keeping me company" when I returned to my hotel room after each day of sight-seeing. WCRB offers a calming alternative to the usual pop stations. It's at 99.5 FM, tho if you do a search, 99.5 comes up as a country station. You won't get Shania Twain, Faith Hill or early Taylor Swift on this station, but you will get Mozart, Bach&Haydn. They have more variety than "Cape Classical: Something Finer" out of Barnstable. They try to change up the composers, the time period. They have relaxing selections, perfect for commutes or family travel. Better than what passes as pop music these days. read more

I don't think this station could be less adventurous with its programming if it tried. Don't the broadcasters want to poke their eyes out hearing Dvorak Slavonic Dances or Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for the 200th time in a row? The only time something not hackneyed comes out of that station is when they broadcast the BSO live. If you want non-snooze classical 95.3 is way way better. read more

B-O-R-I-N-G. I have stopped listening to it. Lousy, dull, same old same old. I am not a big Mozart or non-Bach baroque fan. Can't stand all the flutes and oboes and violins up the wazoo. There is so much good music out there but it pretty much goes by the wayside. Apparently the music choices on this station are all about getting ratings. Thanks but no thanks.
