on first seeing the anchor and hope, you don't really have much hope for the place (excuse the pun!). However, once you make it inside, you change you're mind immediately- the decor isn't too bright, but not too dark either.they haven't got much to offer in the way of ales and bitters, but the lagers are about as cheap as you are going to get outside of wetherspoons. i always find that the food says it all aobut the pub- and this is no exception. upon ordering a very well priced steak, i was suprised when it came up- not piled on the plate, it was instead rather neatly placed. A sure sign the chef knows and loves what he does.
having been a fan of my steaks well done, but often finding them to be crucified, this was just well done- still a hint of pink on the middle as well, as steaks should be. i was tempted to go for deserts, but that would have been too much to handle! so maybe next time. the staff are very polite. the atmosphere is good, and the people friendly whats more you can take the kids and the mother in law as well!. definately worth a visit, and one of my regulars! read more
