I was a bit disappointed by my meal after venturing here. At ~$10 for a dish, it is a tad more expensive and lacked flavour compared to other Taiwanese establishments (even compared to the lack of Taiwanese restaurants back in Canada).
I ordered the golden crispy chicken, which was tender but desperately lacked the spice and crunch. The marinated egg lacked the actual salty marinated flavor, and the cabbage was completely bland. The other entree I tried was the pork belly rice was really really fat, which granted, is what it's supposed to be, but you'd think you get a slighter better cut for $9. I also ordered fried Taiwanese tofu, which was $5.50 for 6 cut squares - they forgot our order and then when I inquired, they quickly made a batch so it was hot and fresh. However, for almost $1 per tofu slice, it is definitely not worth the value.
The best part of the meal was the roasted milk tea, which I can safely say is quite creamy and one of the best I tried. However, this was an additional $2.50 add-on to the $10/$9 each of the meals.
Conclusion: For the price and quality, I think you're better off venturing to some of the many other Taiwanese restaurants in CBD area. This is probably only a good alternative to meet your craving if you go to RMIT or live in the nearby area. read more
