It's a humble location; it's in a quiet strip mall off Oakland Park blvd. Honestly, as we pulled in to the mostly empty parking lot I thought we had the wrong location. But as we entered I realized what few mall customers there were, were all in the shop. And what a nice space it was. Old school basic layout that I liked. Just boxes and boxes of vinyl to sift through. They were well organized, with punk, funk, and more all set in their areas. And the RSD specials were displayed above each of the areas they related to. It's not a huge store, but with the limited quantity it helped me find a couple things I liked. Glad to make the acquaintance of We Got the Beats, and hope to be back soon.

The owner/manager (I'm not sure of his exact role), Tony, was super nice and patient despite what I'm sure was a stressful event. I was super impressed by the organization and how smoothly everything went, when it could've very easily been chaotic with hundreds of crazed fans in attendance. Tony also did a great job of making sure that people didn't cut in line, when many did try, and took the time to talk to those of us who had been waiting in line for hours. He also answered tons of questions on social media that people had leading up to the event. I can't convey how impressed I am at how well they pulled off an event of this magnitude, and am beyond grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is a must only if you want used/vintage vinyl, especially prog, jazz, and world (although hip-hop and avant-garde sections pretty solid as well). Overall the prices are fair. I have found some great bargains, but to be fair, the cheaper vinyl veers more towards VG+. I've also found some obscurities and rarities (unpretentiously) mixed in, and those can get expensive (but again the prices are always fair). The owner is really nice and his partner owns a vintage store in the same strip. I'd put this in my top 20 record stores overall, especially considering the prices for this level of quality and rarity.

Technique records was a pleasant detour on a trip down to Miami. This store has a huge selection of records in varying conditions and genres. Mini records, promo albums, albums from other countries, singles, and even new unopened records can be found here. There is also a section for local artist. They also have several $1 bins where you can find hidden gems if you have the patience. This store was pretty consistently busy and staff was always around if you needed help with something. There are two turntables available to listen to records before you buy (as long as they aren't sealed). Definitely stop in with some time to explore whether you are new to vinyls or a pro.

You can find some rare vintage finds here too, like I did. They sell used and new records, as well. From singles, remixes, to full albums. Prices are decent. This record store surely has some well priced hard to find original music in addition to new digital remastered vinyl. Found a few original Kiss, B-52s and Ramones albums. They offer a box of absolutely FREE records with a limit of three per person. The store policy allows customers to test play vinyl on a phonograph before making any purchase - great policy.

When I saw this near Tealicious (bubble tea shop) on Google Maps, I knew I had to stop here. And the two shops often collab together! My 10-year-old was stoked about this too. We popped in after a Tealicious visit on 6/6/2024. Kpop Kastle may be small in size, but it packs a serious punch. And everything is clean. Organized. Up-to-date. Albums. Photo cards. Plush animals. This is the place to be. Because they have great social media, I was able to find out that Tiny Blips were going to be playing at Connect. So, I headed over after a stellar performance by Totem Cave at Art Serve. When I got there, it was a little crowded, but the atmosphere and vibes were popping. I was able to get closer to the stage and get my groove on. It would be a little difficult to describe TB's music as a genre, but they combined electronic DJ grooves with funk filled, live bass, guitar, and saxophone. Whoever designed the store space definitely LOVES music. There are many posters and paraphernalia throughout. Not to mention the wide range of music that they have for sale, even with reduced price crates for every type of music lover. There's enough room to shake your tail feather if you're feeling the tunes, and TB had a couple of their newly released albums for sale as well after the event. I am a proud owner. Because of the intimate quarters, it was possible to talk with members of the band after the show. The classic dual record players on the front counter is the centerpiece of the shop and definitely creates a perfect vibe for music lovers. When I asked for help, I got dry, one-word responses like I was bothering them they didn't even look up at me while talking to me At one point I sneezed and the staff managed to look at me but somehow nobody could say "bless you." Not a big deal, but it perfectly sums up the vibe -- cold and weird. They kept staring at me while I shopped, and when walking past me in the aisles, not a single "excuse me." I had to physically move out of their way so they wouldn't bump into me. If making customers feel uncomfortable is the goal, they're doing amazing. I definitely won't be back.
