Upon arrival, Joe and Connor got us fitted with our safety vests and our kayaks and then gave us lessons on how to use the paddle, get in/out of the kayak and provided general navigation and waterway guidance; from there we were off and loving life! We kayaked in Cold Spring Harbor just behind the lab and had an awesome time. It was so relaxing and quiet as we glided across the water. Joe led us in the front and Connor picked up the rear so we always felt safe and in good hands. Since this was our first time, we opted for a 1hour lesson/tour and Joe told us that most of his customers, at the end of the tour, say they wanted more time. We all felt the same way and can't wait to go back. If you're thinking about kayaking... go for it and definitely do it with JK Kayak & SUP. You won't be disappointed. If you're just paddling, I think 1 hour is enough but if you want to stop and play on the sandbar then 2 hours. Great time with a great business.

Living in NYC, I do have to make the trek upstate for my outdoor activities. I hike and camp in the Hudson highlands and now kayaking will be added to the list as a regular activities. Mountain Tops makes it too easy! My first experience with them was last year. My boyfriend and I booked a kayaking tour to Bannerman's Island, which included an on-island tour. Neither of us had ever kayaked, but after a quick tutorial we were on our way, with their guides nearby, of course. The guides are great (well, they were great that day) and they have comparable prices. Now that we know what to do, we go straight to the waterfront and rent out kayaks for the day so that we could paddle the river and pull up on random little shores to explore. It's an affordable and easily accessible activity. Tours need to be booked online or at the actual store location on Main Street. Kayak rentals can be done at the waterfront, depending on availability. And yes, you can use your card at the waterfront! I do wish they had later hours. Imagine kayaking in a sunset...oh!

It was a wonderful slice of nature, which looked and felt a lot more remote than It was (there was a bit of highway noise on the lower half of the river). The equipment was in great shape, and the staff helpful and friendly. We went close to high tide, and were able to make it about a mile and a half before the river became too shallow. The staff member said one could do that in about 45 minutes, but with kids, an hour was more reasonable. The two and a half hour rental was a perfect amount of time, as that allowed us to proceed leisurely, explore some of the little nooks on the edge of the river, and take time for the all important snack break. All in all this was a wonderful experience, and we all can't wait to do it again.

Not worth the price…read more We were charged 30 dollars per person for a 45 minute tube float that was advertised as 2 hours. The tubes were very dirty and of poor quality, as was the shuttle. The really frustrating part was that the owner lied to us about where the public accesses are when there is one beside their establishment and the place we were dropped off was public as well. We had our own inflatable kayak that was easy to transport and having heard that there were no nearby accesses we asked if there was any way that we could use our own and take their shuttle and they refused. The river was very slow and was not at all like a rapid it was more of a lazy river. The only positive thing about this experience was our shuttle driver who was honest with us about the access and was very kind.

Was looking for an all-day rafting adventure when I decided to call and see what they had to offer…read more Myself and 5 friends pulled the trigger that same day when we hear about their 9 mile trip down a pretty calm section of the Delaware river for a pretty good price. They do mention that there are "category 1" rapids but it's compared to maybe hitting a speed bump at 20mph. Be sure to stop along the way as the route is beyond beautiful and worthy of docking your kayak or raft for a quick swim. Staff is super helpful and know what they're doing - 10/10 im coming back here in the next few weeks Update: been coming here a few times every summer for the past 4 years and have become a huge fan of the 3 day overnight camping trips that they offer.
