It's probably because all their music has been vetted by decades of time, which means they're digging up some real oldies gold. Be prepared to discover a world of classic pop that will blow your mind. Impeccable song writing and performances that far exceed that British Invasion of the 60s. They're tagline is "smooth and easy." Their talk programs are really funny to listen in to, although a bit too commercial-oriented in my opinion (they really want to sell old people some stuff!). The promos for them are hilarious though, hearing people with thick accents talk about how old people have NO IDEA how to save their money. I also regularly perform karaoke songs I hear on this station for the first time. All hits!

I spent *5.5 hours* researching online and calling places to try to complete a piece of a printing puzzle. After several no-gos, I happened upon Met Printers. Their team *totally* came through!! The receptionist heard my panic, and put me through to Toby, who patiently and cheerfully explained everything I needed to know in order to move my project forward. He really knew his stuff. The fact that he generously supported me in a moment of crisis gets him and the company he works with extra points. It makes me so happy to have found a keen, enthusiastic, passionate, knowledgeable team in the printing world!

It was my…read morefirst time back in the community radio space after about 5years, when they were last located further East on Wall St. My understanding from folks is that the location moved around a bit in the last decade as renovations were being done. I have memories of the Station from as far back as when it was on the block by Army & Navy. This new space is bright with lots of windows and each booth carries an Indigenous name acknowledge its positionality on these unceaded lands Co-op community radio has always been a source of connection. It's people bringing in content, grassroots in the moment happenings. With our proximity and awareness of First Nations actions of resistance just a few streets away it was an important piece to that nights programming to carry awareness into the shows content in addition to my visit helping to 'daylight' Black History Month and disability justice. Co-op is a forum for building community and fostering allyship whether a producer listener supporter, there's room to plug in to community radio.

My favorite program is Radio Bandcouver on Thursdays at 3PM. Co-Op radio is a very under appreciated gem in Vancouver that could use a more profound following than the Commercial Drive hippies. In addition to their programming, they also teach interested people how to run their own station/programming. They have radio orientation/lessons every 3rd Tuesday of the month. My only complaint is that they dont have any syndicated programing on here, but with some more fans they might? Although radio is a dying breed often used as an un-distracting background noise at work, I believe this station may have something worth listening to once in a while. A recent change (I couldn't tell you exactly what or why) and it's now part of ICON. Now everything is very generic. The music playlist is mostly the same but there are none of the local DJs and Newscasters. Everything sounds like all the other 'pipeline' stations that are run by pre-programmed computer playlist. A new addition to the station with this change is the insertion of little mini discussions/interviews with performers. There are times when that can be a welcome addition to a broadcast but in this case, it takes away from the music. There is no soul to the station anymore. I miss the actual people that were on it, they gave it personality. I tried contacting the station to ask a question but nobody answered the text line they advertise. I am sad to say that I will be looking for another station since this one is now just part of the generic noise on so much of radio now.

And he's fair, not like those typical homer fans who call in, just incredulous, really at the stuff they say; that's why I listen lol. Well at 2pm I received a call saying the printer is broken. I asked if they have only one printer and she said yeah. Then I asked for a recommendation and she didn't even mention the other locations. This morning I woke up early to go to get a print done after seeing they're open on Saturdays. I thought I'd give them one more shot. I wake up early, walk downtown - not open. Even though it clearly says Open at 9am on Saturdays on all of their online profiles). Completely unprofessional. I then called every other locations - none of them are open... or they aren't picking up their phone.

Ever since the Harper government got rid of the late night new music/alternative programming like…read more'Brave New Waves', and replaced it with bland fare with no hosts, and axed Jurgen Goth's Disc Drive in the afternoons, and replaced it with programming that sounds like a dull adult contemporary station, it just isn't what it used to be. The AM side in the afternoon with Stephen Quinn is preferable to me. I went online to BBC 6 Music after the death of Brave New Waves. It reminds me of what the indie/alternative music programming used to be like on CBC Radio 2, with live bands in to play and the on-air people programming their own music.
