Our very first time going- leaving very sad and heavy. The entire service (if you could call it that) was about expanding, getting more followers, pushing other friends and family to focus on putting money into the church. There was no celebration of God, no respect to thee scripture except manipulating the words of God as a way to draw money from people's pockets. I am SO sad. I feel deep sorrow and am appalled. I grew up in a cult and have done a lot of treatment and therapy and guidance from God in the church- and this feels exactly like the cult I grew up in. This is not a safe space of the Lord.

Mark and his wife Jenny were enablers of their newlywed daughter (less than 3 months) when she was disappearing and having an affair. They allowed her to continue using their car and home to deceive her spouse. Mark and Jennys response to her spouse when he was worried about her location late at night was to tell him to "just go to sleep". Mark and Jenny refused to acknowlege what was later proven to be happening on those nights they enabled her to hide her location. They now have a grandchild conceived outside that marriage Mark both officiated and help destroy. 1 TIMOTHY 3:4-5 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) There is more that I could share that I believe should disqualify Mark from church leadership. While all of it was going on last year, it is my understanding that Mark was not able or willing to be open and honest about the situation with Elmbrook leadership. As a result, Mark lacked the support and prayer from his peers that he desperately needed. Even though Marks nee son in law had been attending Elmbrook for years with the McCutcheon family, when he was looking for counseling and support, Mark did not recommend any resources provided by Elmbrook most likely to keep the church in the dark. Instead Marks new son in counseled with several pastors from churches outside Elmbrook. This is the part that disturbs me most and I believe could have resulted in a better outcome for his family. Does Elmbrook leadership foster an environment where Mark could have been vulnerable, open and honest about his families struggles in order to receive counsel, prayer and support?

From the first day we walked into the way church, we have felt welcome and friendly like a home. Every Sunday morning, we always have fun at the way church. We love pastor Josh and Emily, and their two adorable children. We also made a lot of great friends there. After 2-year effort, we have had our first kid. I believe our daughter is the gift from God, she is the answer of our prayers at the way church. She will be growing with the Way Church together, she has so many lovely cousins, uncles/aunts as well as grandparents at church watching her growing, how wonderful it is! I live in the neighborhood behind this church and often take my children to play at the small playground on the grounds of Countryside. Today I encountered a man who came out while we were playing (I assume he is the pastor or someone else affiliated with the church) and watched us play for awhile. After some small talk, he left and went back inside. My two children (ages 2 and 16 months) went to peek at a small tomato garden they have growing close to the playground. I told them both before we looked (as I always do) that the tomatoes are not ours and they were to just look at them. My son climbed onto a cement patio next to the garden and as I was watching him my daughter TOUCHED not picked one of the tomatoes. The man yelled out the window at us, "REALLY! Come on!" I calmly explained she didn't pick it and he yelled back, "SHE DID! I JUST SAW HER! AND HE NEEDS TO GET OFF OF THAT!" While most adults I know would be thrilled to see small children excited to learn about the outside world instead of inside of in front of the TV, this man clearly did not share the same ideas. We will NOT be coming here to play ever again, and this man has ruined our impression of Countryside Christian Church. What a horrible impression to give small children of what a church is. Shame on him!!!
