A true gem in Streator Illinois who would of thought, I first became aware of The Weber House during a Radio interview on a A.M. station here in neighboring Ottawa, it was really an off chance that I happen to catch the ad but I am extremely glad I did or else I probably never would of found it as Streator it self has no real tourism. The house it self is Tudor style house, and in the spring and fall has a very elaborate English Garden. This visit was in the month of November so the Garden was of course closed but the house it self was decorated for Christmas. We took our tour at night and received the added bonus touring the house as it was lite entirely by candle We arrived with a group of six 3 of them being kids, we were all a little worried about how the kids would receive the house and its 90 minute tour. With in 10 minutes our concerns were nullified Todd Weber has such a vast variety of knowledge, & so many stories the tour could easily be 3 hours long however with in the first 5 - 10 minutes Todd gets a good feeling for his tour group and brings up different stories and items to accommodate anyone who may walk into the house. Full of history and tremendous stories the Weber house is a true diamond in the rough and worth the trip if you are in the area. If the garden open I recommend coming during the day if it is closed for the winter months I recommend the night tour as the house is illuminated entirely in candlelight.

What a lovely garden in the middle of Streator! Truly you dont even feel like you are in Illinois when you are within the walls. A lovely English garden! We chose to have our formal wedding pictures here after our ceremony at the Silver Fox. For a small fee we were allowed full access to the garden, capturing some amazing photographs! Check them out! Thank you Mr. Weber for such a lovely venue!

The Silver Fox - Ceremony upstairs - so convenient!

This location was not on any of our radars but after seeing this unique venue and the Weber House & Garden they work in conjunction with, we were smitten. This building offers a beautiful walk into an earlier time, when beautiful woodwork and glamor was king. It is rare to find this type of craftsmanship anywhere. The venue was absolutely loved by all. The fact that they could host the ceremony too if need be if the weather didn't cooperate for the garden was a huge plus! It relived the worry factor. We had five states represented and coming in for this wedding. The location was a bit worrying at first but it actually proved to be a straight shot from Ottawa. Ottawa has great places to stay, we found at the Harbor they have several homes of various sizes so lots of family can be in one place and it worked out perfectly. The venue offered a beautiful experience to host the cocktail hour in its elegantly appointed lounge area. The appetizer display set up, fun pool table, the beautiful bar decor, lush carpets, sofas and grand piano all added to creating mystique and ambiance. Just loved the fact that guests could anticipate through the glass French doors the next phase to come as the caterers prepared. It was great that people didn't need to head over to other bars and find places to go in between photos at the garden and actual the dinner. It offered big spaces & rooms for getting ready yet being on site to oversee preparations being done. Had beautiful photo opportunity spots to take before shots. Utilizing the whole bar services from the Silver Fox also proved to be a great choice for us. Top notch Riesling, moscatos, and red wines were served. They did an absolutely great job of cleaning up empty bottles and glasses, none of that awful build up of empties that often happen after and during dinner. Yes, I would highly recommend The Silver Fox to anyone seeking a beautiful setting and wonderful people to work with .

Many of the rooms are already decorated, leaving very little need for additional decor -- however, there is a room upstairs (the pay-it-forward room) containing leftover wedding decor from previous weddings; seriously, there is SO much stuff in there. We did not buy a single thing to decorate our wedding/reception - it was all borrowed from this room! The Silver Fox offers a "Wedding Ball"-style wedding, straying from the traditional sit-down dinner (still offered, of course). We loved doing this style of wedding! We were married upstairs in the ceremony room and the party immediately began after saying "I do"! Highly recommend this style of wedding if you're looking for something a little bit different and less traditional. We used Mark Allen's American Kitchen for catering - they are familiar with this style wedding and provided the perfect food option. Kayla, the wedding coordinator, was fantastic! We can't say enough how essential she was to making our day run smoothly. There was nothing she didn't think of and she was willing to jump in and help wherever needed! Love love love her! We brought in liquor from Streator Drug right around the corner from Silver Fox. They did all of the work, doing ice and liquor runs throughout the night as needed. Silver Fox provided the bartender! We love this place so much, we're hoping to use it again for an anniversary! While it is a bit far from the city/suburbs, it's well worth the trek out there. ALL of our guests could not stop talking about how different and wonderful it was - best decision we made!

I worried I'd not be able to book this popular venue, but I got in! I was so thrilled with the results. Tom, the manager, was accommodating and offered suggestions when I needed them. Due to the size of the group, we decided on a fixed course but allowed orders off the menu for my guests with dietary restrictions. Tom even set up a cake table (check!) and a memento table (which I'd not considered to ask for but needed one - good call Tom). We served fried chicken (better than I've had anywhere and I live in Houston), green beans, ravioli, spaghetti. Salad and bread were also included. Fried chicken was juicy, hot, well seasoned, and crispy crispy. My 15 year old chef LOVED the ravioli - and he's picky about ravioli. And the prices? I'd have paid twice the price elsewhere and would not have been as pleased. We had an open bar. Chad and his team were efficient and extremely friendly. Drinks were fast, cold and perfectly poured. The service was not just good. Can't say enough good things about them. The wait team was UBER friendly. Not only great service, but they really cared that my guests were taken care of and treated like family. Can't buy that heart anywhere. Big shout out to Deb too! She's now honorary part of the fam. Overall, food was delicious and a great value. Service/bar team was caring, attentive and fast. Tom helped make this event over the top and we are grateful. Big recommendation (and I didn't even get a chance to try the evening's specials which were tantalizing) - we'll be BACK!

The defining meeting space of a Polish community that is strong and has been in Streator for over a century. Furthered in the mid-century days by a concentration-camp survivor named Father Switka, the Polish community in Streator has been and still is strong. This is an old-school event venue - a full bar - make that two full bars - and two spaces: one for large gatherings: weddings, reunions, special ceremonies. The other for smaller ones: work parties, birthdays, banquets. The owners and board of directors, are staples of the community. Dorothy Swital was the first female Grand Master, and possibly the last. At 101, she is a matriarch in the community. She and her son Gary run the joint in the spirit of their forefathers and mothers: they don't turn anyone away - and they charge reasonable prices: $300 per three hours of the event space, and $750 per three hours for the reception space (call to ask for updated rates). And they have, doubtless, been involved in the community for decades. You walk in and see it - wood panels, the PNA Charter from 1898, and a warmly lit bar on the right. The left opens up into a seating area, a heater-fireplace, and a kitchen. Two full bathrooms on the far right corner. Tile floor, and beamed ceilings bring you back to the 1970s. And you know, right away, that this space is meaningful - and you quickly learn - that is has been, for nearly a century. A quick conversation with Gary Swital tells me this: he doesn't put up with any crap: when the state tried to tax them, he pushed back. When the church tried to steal their money, his mom did. When the church tried to steal their purse (eminent domain them) he bucked again. This place stands for everything that is great about Streator: good times, good fun, and community. Parties, work galas, fundraisers, funeral dinners, social clubs, reunions, weddings, funerals: this space has seen everything in its 100 years of existence. And Gary and Dorothy Swital have been instrumental in its flourishing for over 75 of those years.
