We went on a day that went from brilliant sunshine to sprinkles to downpour in an instant, but it had that summer-y, vacation-y vibe to it. When we pulled up, there was a quartet of sorts playing bluegrass. A table out front had an accopanying dog sitting quietly next to his bowl of water. All the doors to the barn were open, and I was absolutely delighted with the crowd, the market, the bar, and the food truck. The view out the back isn't bad, either. We enjoyed a cocktail - bourbon and fresh made lemonade - chicken tacos, and the biscuits and gravy. Afterall, we were there for the Sunday Biscuits and Bluegrass open event! It's such a charming, laid-back place. I will definitely be back when I have friends in from out of town.

I found it to be a bright spot of my visit to Oxford. Parking is off street by meter. Local vendors had everything to flowers, plants, bakery items and even custom made jewelry. The market is dog friendly on a leash and there were a lot of them enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. If I'm in Oxford on a Saturday morning find me at the Farmers Market in Uptown by the city square.

Everyone there is always super nice and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about their products and clearly love what they are doing. I went last Saturday I think. They have stayed open during this and have been doing a great job with social distancing and still having an enjoyable market. It helps that it is an outside event. We got a couple tomato starts from Stoney Hedgerow Farm. Craig knows his stuff!!! They have these wonderful laminated sheets that breakdown each of the tomato starts they have. My dad was looking for a yellow tomato so we got the Persimmon. Craig sold us on his Sun Sugars. I'd never heard of them before. They are a yellow cherry tomato that are apparently incredibly sweet. We were told that they are something like candy disguised as fruit. I am very much looking forward to these getting fruit. Can't wait. I also got a Sweet Almond Ring and chocolate chip cookies baked by James. I don't remember his last name. I've had his stuff before and it is all delicious. He offers a variety of breads and sweets. Yum yum. The sweet almond ring was amazing. Baked perfectly. So were the cookies. I love me a soft cookie and James knows how to bake them perfectly. They are also the best ratio of chocolate chips/chunks and dough. I also grabbed a bottle of Sangria from Swine City Brewing. I haven't unfortunately popped the top yet but I am very excited about it. First I didn't know they made wine!!! Second I have been wanting to go to the Brewery for a while then this craziness happened. I was excited to see them there. Their bottles look like beer bottles but they are wine. Definitely stop and see what they have don't pass them up thinking it's beer.

Great restaurants and shops in and near Findlay Market, Cincinnati!…read more We had a free day while visiting relatives, and any day is fun at Findlay Market in the mid-north of the OTR (Over The Rhine) area of Cincinnati! (Well, not Mondays when they are closed :-). Parking isnt free, but it's not too expensive, and we had no problem finding a space in the North Parking Lot between Findlay Street and the market. We came in through a covered outdoor walkway, with a few vendors and with clever sayings along the sides. Then a cute photo-op with a cartoon Reds statue. Then the market stretching left and right, full of fresh produce, meats and cheese, and ready-to-eat foods of all kinds. On our first walkthrough we just scanned left and right to see some of what's there. It was busy, but not uncomfortably crowded. Out the south door of the market onto Elder Street, there's several murals, and more shops and restaurants. We always stop in at Maverick Chocolate Co. for a few yummy samples from so many flavors. They used to make the chocolate here, and now it's made just across the river in KY, where you can still get tours and probably samples :-). We sampled around six varieties! And decided on four. But it was a hot day, so we decided to circle back later for our purchases. The staff was welcoming, and maybe they didn't really know that we would return, but they were still just as kind as can be :-). We walked west to Elm Street to the stop for the free Connector streetcar, just to take a little ride around town, partly to see some of the hundreds of murals around town! And we got off again, later, at the same stop. Right there at the west end of the Market building there's an outdoor bar and patio. I, myself, was ready for a little refreshment, and they poured me a delicious local bourbon cocktail, while others of us had local craft beers. We found shaded seating among probably 20 or more round red metal tables, with chairs that were really raucous when moved! The seats fill and empty in fits and spurts, and there"s a handful of backless stools at the bar, so if you wait a little, you'll find a place to sit. We dove back into the market for some freshly-made pierogis, and a to nearby bbq, too. And afterwards, we circled back to Maverick for delicious fresh-made artisanal chocolate :-). Yum, yum, and more yum! We saw so many places we want to return to! Findlay Market has everything! I'll post a very few of so many photos that we took of a full, fun day. It's a nice area to walk around, shop, eat, and drink. And it's a great spot to catch the Connector streetcar to get around OTR and downtown Cincinnati, to within a-few-minutes-walk of the porch-swings overlooking the Ohio River near the ballpark :-)

There were several ethnic food vendors (Jamaican, Mexican, Columbian, Vietnamese, ect). There is also an open fish and meat market as well as other vendors and places of interest.

Super cute family market that I've visited for years. Spring and summer offer plenty of flowers and…read moreplants. Fall has plenty of pumpkins along with a great corn trail. The best part is the small market with plenty of fun snacks inside. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake milk from a local dairy farm. Service was nice and we were helped quickly.

I ventured out Saturday morning to the Batesville Farmers Market and I was surprised to find so…read moremany vendors set up and ready to go at opening at 8 in the morning. I was in search of fresh, farm grown, vegetables and found plenty here. As I walked around the market all of the vendors were very friendly and helpful as they eagerly described the items that they had for sale. I ended up leaving the market with green beans, corn on the cob, zucchini, kohlrabi, beets, red potatoes, and tomatoes. All of these goodies will last us through the week. I have never tried kohlrabi but the farmer that had it said they just peel the green off and slice it put a little salt on it and eat it so I thought I would give it a try! The fresh flowers and arrangements were absolutely beautiful as were so many items found in the local craftsmamen's booths. I will probably be right back here next weekend. Come out and give it a walkthrough. Not to mention that there is a local bakery next door that I haven't tried yet

I understand the inside area will feature an new ice cream store where they will make ice cream on-site, The Colonel's Creamery. Plus Taste of Belgium, Colonel D's Herbs and Spices, butcher shop, vinegar and olive oils, an Italian store where they will make pasta...whoa! Can hardly wait. Owner says they should be opening mid-August.
