This is the only liquor store in Marietta. That being said, it's sufficient. There is a good selection of liquor, fair selection of beer and a fair selection of wine. The prices are fair--about where they should be. If you have some extra time and you're not in a hurry you can always drive directly across the river in to West Virginia and save a few dollars per bottle by going to the North End Market in Parkersburg (15 minute trip) or Gas n' Goods in Williamstown (5 minute trip). I found the prices at North End Market to be the cheapest in the area. This is an older store that also has a market attached with a little grocery. There are odds and ends, necessities, and a good selection of mixers. For instance, I got some gin here yesterday, tonic water, limes and some cheese to snack on all in one stop. The dry goods are much more expensive though than buying at say, Kroger, but you pay for the convenience. There's a deli here too that tends to carry some pretty good meat and homemade salads etc. They've got good Ohio stuff too--Watershed, Oyo, etc., which is trendy up in Columbus where I live right now. This is a good place for a one or two bottle purchase and an occasional dry good item. If you're buying in bulk, I'd head across the river though to North End Market, as you'll be sure to save money since West Virginia taxes are cheaper on booze. Otherwise, Weber's is fine and the Ohio prices are worth the convenience. read more

I live in Ga and I was coming near Marietta for a visit. Weber's carries Mr Boston white crime de menthe. I called several days before my arrival and asked the lady if she could order me two cases. She said she could but I couldn't get it until Saturday. I gave her a credit card information and told her I would be there thru Monday and I will pick it up then. She was very sweet and accommodating . On Friday I called to confirm this. Another lady answered this time who sounded pissed off at the world. She told me it wouldn't be here until the following Friday. I told her I was told it would be there tomorrow . She said it's in the warehouse and won't be here. If she acts that way all the time she can't be too happy of a person. read more

I started going to Webers about 6 months ago. They have a great selection of liquor. The girls are always very helpful. They also have a drive thru. I've never been through the drive thru because I like to go inside and look at the huge selection they offer. I've heard that the drive thru only has a limited selection of what you can buy. So, the next time you need any alcoholic beverage stop in Webers! read more

I give Weber's a 4.5 plus rating, especially when considering the small town environment. The liquor side of the market has a very good selection of wine and spirits (not sure of the beer) and the prices are very competitive. The sales folks are knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating. The grocery side is also very pleasant and friendly. For an in-town convenience/grocery store, I find the prices very, very fair. I am sure that a big box store might have some items a bit cheaper, but I am not so sure of that. Additionally, Weber's is so convenient and is within walking distance of many homes in the neighborhood. The walk or drive is less than 10 minutes for most places in town and 5 minutes from many. My only suggestion would be to have a second check-out clerk available, especially at busy times like after work in the afternoon. Sometimes it is a bit slow. As a beverage store, Weber's leaves a lot to be desired. It's in a quaint old brick edifice with a quality meat market in back, and that's all good. The problem is that the only liquor store in Washington County (pop. 63,000) operates on "bankers hours." It's open 9 AM to 6 PM Monday-Saturday and noon till 5 PM Sunday. Compare that to most county seats around the state. For example, Kroger in Athens is open 9 AM to 10 PM seven days a week. Besides the bankers' hours, the service is poor. One must hunt down the only employee to staff the cash register, which can take several minutes: "Hello? Anybody home?" And they charge an extra 3 percent to use of them new-fangled credit cards. Basically, whoever owns this place needs to retire and cash in by selling Marietta's only liquor license to someone who knows what to do with it. For those who advocate buying liquor across the Ohio River, keep in mind that West Virginia charges an incredible ELEVEN PERCENT SALE TAX on liquor purchases. Why the owner of the Parkersburg-Marietta area's only Ohio liquor permit does not use its various advantages is mind boggling. Sooner or later, Kroger or Giant Eagle will. read more
