She could tell you which park is suitable for different age group, which park has the cleanest BBQ areas or has the most shade or has easy parking or has the best slides. It's a real eye opener tagging along and watching how kids interact with the playground. Whoever designed the Hamilton playground has thought of everything. There are three different designated play areas. One area is clearly for toddlers because the steps are low enough for them to climb up and there are simple slides and seesaws low to the ground. There's an adventure style playground for the older kids (and short adults like me!) with a climbing net and flying foxes. What I was most impressed with was the miniature road set. My nephew was worried that it was a 'real road' and pronounced in a sing song voice that I should get off the road. Once I explained it was a 'pretend road', he happily raced around the track on a pretend motorbike breaking all the road rules but at least giving way to pedestrians. There's an off-leash dog area attached to the park. This looks like gambolling doggy fun with an obstacle course for the bigger dogs. And when you're tired of running around, pop across the road to Portside for a coffee and cake.

It's on the river, with a little sandy shore, so you can fish; there are quite a few picnic tables and barbecues (but get in early on weekends); there are wide open spaces for kicking a ball around and lots of shady trees to spread a picnic rug beneath. The funnest part, however is the kid's playground. The Octopus Garden has lots wood and rope climbing areas, big sandpit, water play features, giant colourful fish and octopus play areas and a flying fox. For kids and kids at heart, this place has a lovely vibe, with a backdrop of the river and the Gateway Bridge in the distance, Brisbane City Council's done a really good job here. Check it out.

I am so glad this was turned into an amazing park and not another set of apartment buildings. The park is home to the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre which has 6 courts for hire and also has lessons. The playground area is packed on the weekends as it's an a amazing area for kids. While its way more advanced then for my 10month old there is still some great places for him to crawl around but I can see that the amazing rock climbing wall, huge slide and the curling slide would be heaven for any kid. There are 4 different bbq areas with 8 total BBQ that have picnic tables around them. There is decent shade for these areas but also a large grass are perfect for a picnic if you don't want to BBQ. Kids love circling the grass area on there bikes and scooters and it's all within the parents eyesight. There is also a table tennis table and some exercise equipment. Early mornings you may even have a boot camp or personal trainer working out there. Only wish there was a water feature for kids to play in but I guess with the past flooding that may have not have worked. Oh and there are toilets onsite and a cafe which I need to still check out.

I am very disappointed and astounded at the shocking customer service Go Wild centre at Strathpine…read more I contacted the centre in advance via telephone to advise that I would not be hiring a party room, but would be bringing 12 children to celebrate my son's 5th birthday. I advised that I would be utilising shop-a-dockets for 'buy one entry and receive a second free' and that I would be paying for all the children myself. I was advised that I would have to use multiple dockets and that there was a limit to two dockets per transaction. At no time did the staff member advise me that if I was utilising the shop-a-dockets on the internet, that I would only be able to use one voucher and that all other vouchers would be invalid. I arrived at the centre at 9am with 12 children (and their parents). I was confronted with a staff member at the counter arguing with me about the shop-a-dockets' validity, telling me that I would not be able to use the vouchers as they all had the same code printed on them and that I would only be able use one. I would therefore be charged full price for 10 children. Another parent presented two shop-a-dockets that had been cut out from the back of a shopping receipt. Apparently these vouchers were acceptable and I was able to use them, however I was still charged full price for 5 children. Another staff member approached the counter and advised that they had experienced the same problem recently with other customers trying to utilise the internet shop-a-docket vouchers and that he would be contacting shop-a-docket tomorrow. I can't understand why one type of voucher can be honoured numerous times and the other readily available and not valid more than once, without any such terms and conditions listed. I advised that I would also be purchasing meals for the 12 children and that they would still be receiving further funds as a result of our visit. I was very embarrassed in front of the other children's parents and other customers that had formed a queue outside the door, waiting to come in to Go Wild as it took approx. 20 mins for the staff to sort out this issue. I can't believe that the vouchers were not honoured as a token of good will and good customer service. The parents of the 12 children concerned, were appalled at the situation and told me that they would never in the future consider coming to Go Wild for their own children's birthdays. The parents advised me that I should place my complaint onto your Facebook page. I noted on your website that you say "Go Wild Activity Centre is a family-owned and locally operated business. Our friendly team includes blue-card staff and we pride ourselves on providing excellent, quality customer service that is down-to-earth and friendly. You are one of the family at Go Wild!" The reason for my complaint today, is to bring this episode to your attention so that hopefully it will not happen to other parents trying to provide a Happy Birthday experience for their child.

We started out going through the environment centre, which was only small but had interesting pieces. The staff was friendly and welcoming while we were there and gave us more information and encouraged us to look into more events that Moreton Bay council rang. Afterwards we went on the Hide and Seek Children's trail which was informative and interesting, although we didn't get to see all the things that were promised. We played in the playground for a while, while the adults cooked lunch and then after lunch went on another hike through the other walkways and paths that were labelled around the area. All around it was a great way to spend the day and a way to get out of the house without costing a fortune!!

Right on the bustling, big Rode Road you can pull in to this reserve - also known as the Raven Street Reserve and head past the interpretive centre (open 8.30am - 4pm Mon - Fri) to walk the paths that take you deep into the bush. There are so many species of birds, mammals and reptiles here and if you head and down to the creek and you're really lucky you might spot a bearded dragon sunning itself on a rock or swimming across the creek like a tiny, prehistoric creature. Afterwartds, you can can picnic or barbecue in the reserve and kids love the adventure playground.

What's best is that the area has plenty of green covering to help you avoid getting sunburned. Connected to the playground is a small and tight skate park with a 4ft quarter pipe, a little fun-box and a selection of blocks and rails of different height to grind. The park itself is a little hard to manoeuvre around and if it gets too busy there's going to be a long wait for you to get a line on. Melrose also has an adjoining concrete basketball court and cricket nets. If you're hungry or thirsty there are shops about 200m up the road.

The grassy areas are perfect for picnics and the Historical Cemetery is really beautiful and serene. There's a good-sized playground for the kids, and the park is dog friendly. There's even a dog off-leash area and dog training area. The dog training area is really fantastic and something I've never seen in a park before. There are tunnels for dogs to run through, ramps and platforms for them to jump and run up, obstacles and poles to jump over and run around. It's such a great idea. And no doggy park is complete without bins and plastic bags especially for your dog poop. The park is really well groomed and maintained, and there are signs around for regular Working Bees to upkeep of the park and grounds.

There's some awesome trails to walk, and the bike path takes advantage of the shade too along the very pretty Kedron Brook. It's a beautiful thing to see kids head off on their bikes with fishing rods in tow and this is not an uncommon sight in Grange Forest Park. Make sure you pay it a visit, your dog will thank you.
