I just had my in ground pool removed and filled and my entire yard re-graded and I have to say this experience has been the best by far! Brian Madden made me feel very comfortable and explained everything in detail. I wasn't expecting to get what I got, actually I was really nervous because I really don't trust any contractor due to some of the bad experiences I have had. I thought I was going to get the everyday quick in/out half ass job that almost every contractor does these days but what I got was awesome! It was a big job and again I was very nervous but Madden Bros was very quick and careful in not to mess up my front yard with the skid steers and trucks and the final presentation was AWESOME! The filling of the pool was clean and as promised, the topsoil was clean and free from debris, which you really don't see these days and the final re-grade with the slight slope to the rear, drainage purposes, was not expected at all. Brian cleaned and removed all the extra yard waste that I had building up from tress that I was trimming and that was something I wasn't expecting either. when I first met with Brian Madden he asked a lot of questions and kept asking me what the overall plan was for the backyard and I explained I wanted something nice and level that I can lay some grass seed down on so that my twins can enjoy the outdoors and I told him how I was going to landscape and mulch the yard just to give it a clean look...well when I returned from work in order to inspect the final grade I noticed that Brian went out of his way to bring in mulch and lay it around the trees and along the fence line in order to provide a full finished product! I didn't know what to say.. I mean I was surprised and speechless. it felt good to see that there are good people and good companies out there that still care to make a difference and go the extra mile to provide a "GREAT" service! I offered to pay him for the mulch since it was something I was going to do "eventually" but Brian refused to accept my payment and said it was his way of saying thanks! Now that's service! this experience was great.. I wasn't left with any repairs to do on my own, I wasn't left with any clean-up and I got exactly what I wanted and then some!!! "A Real Class Act" I have been working with Bob and Brian Madden for more than 10 years now, originally for their mulch blowing service. My property required 38 yards which is a significant amount for most landscape companies. That is why you need a company of this caliber. They have the proper equipment and trained professionals that showed up on time in a tractor-trailer and put the mulch down within an hour (versus the two days quoted by most landscape companies). What was more impressive is their services were less expensive overall. Because they can do it in less time with the proper machines it saves you money. I was unaware that this company sold seasoned firewood let alone the extremely difficult to find kiln dried firewood. If you're unfamiliar with the latter, it's the firewood you buy at the big-box retailers or grocery store for five dollars for four pieces. It's so dry you can light it with the match and it burns four hours. To the best of my knowledge Madden brothers is the only company that not only sells this product in bulk but delivers and stacks it. Again, I did a Google search for firewood and I saw that a company that I already do business with and trust sells it so I called and talked to one of their employees who walked me through (almost like a doctor giving a consultation) the differences between the kiln dried wood in the air dried wood. These guys take their business seriously and that's good. The wood was delivered the next day and I have made one additional order since then. It may be noteworthy to mention that I did call a few other firewood companies... Not one answers their phone or even returned a voicemail. I'll continue to use Madden for all my landscape material and firewood needs. One final note... and this is just unheard of customer service these days... One of the owners (Brian) calls each customer after all deliveries to personally make sure that everything was satisfactory. He starts off by saying that IF there are any issues he wants to come by, at your convenience, and make it right. I have been installing my own Mulch for 20 years and Brian Madden talked me into using their service this year and not only was the price reasonable, but the professional job was outstanding. My wife will never let me install the mulch again and I can't argue with her. Within three days of placing the order, three Madden associates were at my house moving ten yards of the best quality mulch in the Cleveland area. In less than three hours, Mulch was down, no mess, no back aches and a professional looking landscape job was complete. I have MS and haven't used my fireplace in awhile. Checking the internet, I noticed that Madden Brothers had a very positive local rating. They did not let me down. The kiln-dried quarter cord was delivered the very next day (and, because they are in Brunswick and I am in Cleveland close to Euclid, I was very impressed by their promptness). This wood is so good I don't need to use kindling, just a few bunches of newspaper under a few of the smaller pieces to start it going. Because I have MS, they offered to stack the wood at no additional cost and they did a perfect job at that! I grew up in a neighborhood whose stores were mostly owned and operated by neighbors. Brian Madden and his family remind me of that feeling. In an age where I have to constantly worry about people ripping me off due to my disability, it is completely refreshing to have gotten my money's worth and much more. Ordered one cord of air dried wood and the Woodhaven log holder. The workers arrived assembled the log holder and proceeded to stack the wood. The workers were professional and friendly, did their work promptly and cheerfully, considering I had part of the wood stacked in my basement on a L.L. Bean log holder which does compare to the Woodhaven. The air dried wood burns beautifully, does not smoke or smolder, the price of the air dried wood is worth every penny.
