You can walk, run or bike just watch out for the walnuts and wet leaves in the fall. Besides very well maintained pathways there's a lot of nature. For you bird lovers this is amazing place to watch birds. Bring the kids and the dogs! There's a log cabin which you can't get into but is fun to look at and read a little about it's history. There are several bridges over clean streams. Another fantastic local park for photographers from beginners to professionals to take some amazing pictures. Other people whom I encountered along the way were friendly and kind. It made for a lovely walk!

This is a pretty area with some great paved walking paths to wander around on. There are picnic…read moretables and a nice garden space near the parking lot, and you can follow the trail back from there into the woods. One section will take you past the historic Fleming cabin with an interpretative sign. There is a very nice newly replaced boardwalk/pier at the pond, which offers some seating and picnic tables, and lets you enjoy the view. The water is a bit low right now - I'm not sure if they have a way to manipulate the depth that was adjusted while the pier was being rebuilt, or if it just happens to be low right now. If you go all the way out to the bench area, you can still get a nice view of the filled up portion of the pond, however. Vernal pools also appear throughout the year. A nice place to take a walk or go for a jog!

This is a nice little park, featuring a small lake where you can look for wildlife - we spotted…read moresome turtles sunning themselves - as well as participate in some catch and release fishing. There are a few short trails around that let you explore the woods a bit. The trails are nicely mulched, although the mulch level was a bit high at the time of our visit, making it a bit challenging for the pint-sized members to wade through. We accessed the trails via the grassy area to the right when facing the lake from the parking lot near the entrance (there is a second parking lot further back, located between the restrooms and a shelterhouse with picnic tables). The trail comes to a fork, and taking the one to the right took us out to a nice viewing area for the nearby creek. We then backtracked to the fork and headed to the left, which took us along the back edge of the lake through the woods, which helped with the heat and let us look for some animals. This trail brought us to the shelterhouse and we followed the paved drive back to the front parking area. Enjoyable place for a visit!

It's a surprising little oasis tucked between some major office buildings and the freeway (I-71). Water, waterfalls, walking paths, even a shelter. I peaceful oasis in an unexpected location.

This is a beautiful little pocket park located near the Microsoft/Veeam Building. There was…read moreplentiful parking available in the lot adjacent to the building and park. It features several little waterfall areas that help mitigate the noise of the nearby highway. There is a pond and a couple of small shelters where you can sit and relax. It also features a really neat wind sculpture, the North Star, that can be seen when you are passing by on the highway. It spins gently in the wind and adds a nice focal point just behind the large waterfall. It was designed by Robert S. Mullins. There's a paved walking path around the park that provides a good view of the highway, for those interested. Quiet and relaxing.

A small but absolutely lovely preserve. Quite a bit of it is wooded, making it an especially nice…read morechoice for a hot, sunny day. The trail system is small within the park, and includes two approximately 1/2 mile trails, the Woodland Ridge Trail that stays in the forest, and the Pinegrove Trail, which takes you through more woods and some meadow-like sections. It also offers a wildlife blind to view a blind, with birds, turtles, and more wildlife to see. You can easily combine the two trails by crossing the bridge located over the ravine, which is an extremely popular location for pictures. Near the parking area is a nature center, which has a lovely garden out front. The staff is extremely friendly and will chat and provide information. On our most recent visit, we got a heads-up about a pair of active ospreys viewable from the Alum Creek Osprey Overlook just up the road, which can be hiked/biked from Hogback Ridge if you want to extend your hike/jog/ride. This is normally a very quiet preserve, but we found a big cycling event going on during our most recent visit that seemed to be running out of the park. We still found parking and everyone was very friendly - a couple of the cyclists made sure we knew about the ospreys. Great place to visit!

I have complained 3 times…read moreabout the abuse via apathy about the stewards of our parks At Duranceau park at the Mc Knight outdoor eduction center they have successfully let at least 4 dozen trees die by not ever PLANTING THEM!! Paw Paw trees in bulbs above ground since April !! And then more trees delivered in the fall meeting the same doom !! Sycamores, Tulip, and Oaks All sitting above ground !! Several months now! The staff at the park have even gone as far as hiding the trees! So it LOOKS like they are proper stewards of the park Which they are not. See examples below

This nature preserve is beautiful. At first glance, it doesn't look like much. You park in the…read moreparking lot and it looks rather urban. But when you walk down the stairs, you're suddenly transported to a peaceful spot in nature. Now, about those stairs. They are pretty steep, and there are many of them, and I'm not sure there's any other way to get down the to nature preserve without walking down the stairs. Unless there's another way to get down there that I don't know about, this isn't a wheelchair- or stroller-friendly park. Once you're down the steps, you walk down a boardwalk that takes you to a beautiful waterfall. All in all, it takes maybe less than a minute to walk from the end of the step to the waterfall -- it's really rather close. Along the way, you will see beautiful plants and trees, and as you get closer, you'll hear the sound of the water rushing until you actually reach it. It's kind of amazing to see a waterfall up close -- it's very soothing to the spirit. In the winter, I've read that the waterfall will sometimes freeze over, so you can see it in a whole new way. The boardwalk ends at the waterfall, and it's a one-way trek there and back. The trail does not loop. This is an easy and fun walk for young kids especially. I had kids with me and we were done with the walk and had seen everything in about 10 to 15 minutes. I like efficient hikes like this.

As you head over towards the park, you find several tennis courts, a basketball court, and a playground. The playground includes baby and traditional swings, a musical instrument area, and a very impressive structure with multiple slides and climbing pieces, a fun sound-making steering wheel, and a scavenger hunt. Just past these is a small green space and a gate beyond that. If you head through the gate, you can follow a winding paved path down into a natural area in a forest, with access to the Scioto River. If you follow the trail further down, you can see the remains of a former quarry before looping back around. We quite enjoyed our visit and exploring everything this park has to offer!

This is a neat place to explore! Parking is street parking - watch the signage. When you head into…read morethe woods, you'll be greeted in short order by a fork in the trail. If you head to the right, it takes you along a hilly area that looks down on the stream and then it deadends into the fence abutting the cemetery. If you head to the left, you get an interesting trip along the stream and down to the river. This is a great area for kids because there's a lot of neat things to explore and challenge them. There are sections of the trail that require using stepping stones across smaller streams flowing down into the large stream. There are some great areas for fort building, and, on our visit, there was a particularly large and impressive one set up. Depending on the height of the water there are little "islands" in some sections of the stream you can explore. The trail and stream eventually meet up with the river, and there's a connection to the multiuse trail and bridge. When we headed over initially, we had expected just a quick visit to the woods, and we ended up spending a good 1 1/2 hours exploring!

Rush Run is a Columbus City Park that is inside the City of Worthington behind Walnut Grove…read moreCemetery. It sits across the river from Antrim Park and is a not so well known plot of thick trees and brush flanking a ravine. I happened upon it the other day while walking. Its entrance is off the inconspicuous Broadmeadows Blvd, far from any major highway. The things you find on some forgotten stretch of nothing! And just when you think you know all there is to know about your city? It is about the same size as Antrim but it is not an activities area. It is dense woodland with the watershed stream Rush Run bubbling through it. The trees are of all types and ages. It's too early in the spring for canopies to form, yet swarms of birds and insects have taken hold. The lay of the land is one of slight slopes, hills, and rugged path studded with root outgrowths and fallen saplings. I can not say it is 'pristine,' as the turf have been pounded by hundreds of feet and is matted like hat hair. There is too much trash littered around, and some weeds do not look to be local. The ravine is the mist interesting sight here; it becomes deeper at the Parks Eastern side. Ravines are the only half way interesting geological feature this area has outside the Appalachian foothills of Gahanna, so I always suggest people get out and see them. Three stars for now but a summer return is a must. Once the leaves foliage comes and the undergrowth rises, the place may be more beautiful than early spring shows.

There are many entrances to this park, but no parking at most (and in fact street parking is…read morerestricted near those walking entrances.) The main park entrance, then, is in the center, at this address. A decent lot, a small shelter, a small playground, restrooms, etc. Also a kid-size basketball court, which is cool, and some playing fields. No amenities at the northern entrance, a few at the southern one. There's a walking trail the whole way through the parks, along the creek, and along the highway. There's the bridge to the high school at the southern end, of course. There are playing fields that always flood in the south. A nice park, along the edge of the development. I'm wondering if there is a park in the center of the neighborhood, since this is a bit of a hike for some residents.
