The venue is made up out of quite a few large rooms, dance floors, bar areas, and smoking terraces. The place is simply huge. After a few drinks you'd best be prepared for inevitably losing track of where all of your friends are, because if someone gets lost it's a miracle if they manage to rejoin the group. My experience of this place is pretty clouded to be honest. The drinks were so cheap on the Wednesday night I just totally lost track. I remember falling off of a bar stool. Drinking more. Losing everyone in my group. Drinking more. Doing The Worm (or trying to). Drinking more. And that's when my memory blanks out and I wake up the next morning feeling like death warmed up. What more can you possibly want from a night club?! Cheap drinks, great venue, huge array of rooms, plenty of smoking terraces, the list goes on. Of course, the club is defined by the night. Which is why I won't call it "the best"... but at the very least, it's great.

Where hotshots used to be is the bar quarter and this is proabably the nicest part. The bar quarter is a few bars seperated by walls but each one has a different vibe, some with large sofas and beds to lay on. The main part of bar quarter is a big bar surrounded by booths which you can hire for a birthday celebration but i have heard they are not cheap. The main Oceana area is much the same just with a few doors moved and a paint job to alter the layout. Unfortunatly it is the same kind of people going there who went when it was Ikon Diva and this can cause a bad atmosphere and the door staff seem obliviously to this. They can also be quite rude. Drinks are expensive with my firend paying £6 for a double vodka red bull! I personally give this place a miss unless it is a friends birthday and they want to go.

Anyway let's start the day off in the quiet town of Bidbury, I woke up feeling rough as fuck from the night before, I thought ho humb, I'm a trooper, so I got on with it. I had my breakfast, got changed and set off towards Bedhampton train station, then there was a shit storm. Let's roll back 4 months, I've just paid £35 for a 16-25 railcard. Flash forward. I go to buy my train ticket, it should be £2.90, it came up £12. I thought you're having a laugh. So let me say this to national rail, you make me sick. You are the scum and villainy of this country the mere Nazi's of our time. Much to my dislike I had to pay £4.50 for a train ticket. So its not a good start to the day. After arriving at the Portsmouth and Southsea station we thought fuck it, let's have a cheeky maccy fucking D's. We went, we are, we conquered. Unfortunately one staff member was really rude, the cheeky cow. She shouted in a rather rude tone "I've called you already, your foods ready". I thought right that's it, won't be visiting here again. Now off to the guildhall. My college tutor said be there for half 9, what time does he turn up?! 10 to fucking 10. But once again I thought ho humb, I'm a trooper and I carried on. £5 pound later, I'm in. I'm currently sat down waiting for this to start. I'll comment on the chairs, let's just say if an American came, they'd be fucked. Let's also say they make easy jet look like first class Emirates. Now there is a photographer taking photos of me, I know I'm a Yelp reviewer but I don't want the attention. Update. It's half past ten and it hasn't started. If I pay £5 I expect you to start on fucking time. 10:32 its started. It's now 11:04, the first speaker is still rambling on. She said "nothing is impossible" and I thought yeah and I'm the king of China. Try bring back Freddy Mercury love. What's that? Local promoter and night club owner Luke Betts, had a lot to say about recent bookings and Mutiny Festival, but I got one question for you, you booking me for Mutiny 2016? This other bloke who works for Island Records is just name dropping artists like he's their best mate. He now works for Live Nation and probably sells tickets to Viagogo for them to sell at extortion prices. Shame on you. There's also a drug dealer on the panel, turns out its for a pharmaceutical company though, what is this? Dave? #HomeOfWittyBanter. He also is name dropping artists yeah I've worked with x,y and z. Sorry hard. If you heard him you would think he's being paid to hype up Dan Smith, either that or he loves him. The Queen keyboard player promoting his own show, said he would get us on guestlist #Winning. Despite the majority of them having that standard monotone voice, this could pass off as quite witty and interesting. *Update* its 12:05 and my belly is making weirid noises, think i need to have lunch. But where to go? Think we ruled out the option of McDonald's due to the rude staff, how about whetherspoons (see last review)? *Update* 12:11 still rumbling. *Update* 12:13 the fire alarm has gone off, even though the lady said there was no planned fire alarms today. This day is a shambles. *Update* 12:22 everyone is back in the auditorium, ready to continue. So the whole event has been pushed back 15 minutes. Not happy. So lunch is now at 1 and we only get half an hour. Didn't realise child cruelty still existed. They keep mentioning about the 8 45 minute sets, its not quite a 6hour LA-TO DJ set though is it? Great Pub! My…read moreco-workers took a bunch of us here for lunch to experience a very traditional English pub. The Royal Oak did not disappoint. Both the beer and food was terrific. My fish and chips was served on old newspaper (a nice traditional touch). The building looked very old from the outside and yet the inside was very clean. The entrance is located on the beach, and I mean literally on the beach. The water is actually a stone's throw away. I've got to imagine the tide water rises up to the front door whenever a storm surge comes into town. In the front is a nice long bar with many beers on tap. In the back are some separate rooms and the kitchen. We sat in a back room and it ended up working out great for lunch. I'd definitely return again.

The Aspex gallery/cafe is a small affair. Founded in1981 and moved to new premises in the Vulcan…read morebuilding in 2006. This was once a storehouse for the Royal navy. The gallery tries to display old and new art. They won the Royal institute of British Architects award in 2007 and Arts & business community award. They have worked in partnership with the Gunwharf Quays management LTD, caravan glallery and Banner project with Peter Lloyd. The cafe is clean and has nice food on offer,see photos for more info.

This might be as it's a little out of the way/hidden at the back of the Gunwharf. I've yet to use their cafe, and have noticed some interesting items in their shop.

It can get quiet busy, it tends to be an alternative scene in there, but it's very friendly and is mostly a good atmosphere. Most people remember it as the place with all the Absolut Vodka bottles with all the chocolate in them! They have a huge selection of (sickly) chocolatey vodka shots behind the bar. If you ask people where they've been they never remember the name just the vodka! They also have a jukebox in there, but its usually kept well topped up!

It's a surprisingly large pub, although I'm not entirely sure it's laid out in the best possible way. My boyfriend and I were seated on a table that felt a little like it was in a corridor, with wait staff and customers squeezing past us on a regular basis. The food menu is big and focuses on fresh, local produce. They also have a number of daily changing specials on top of the standard menu. I went for the beef wellington, and the boyf went for the whole gurnard, one of the specials. The gurnard was apparently delicious - the boyf leaving nothing but the bones (he even ate the eyes!!). The wellington was pretty good, and certainly large. A big chunk of fillet steak, pate and mushroom encased in light flaky pastry. Admittedly, it was easier to eat when the wait staff remembered to bring me a steak knife, unfortunately, I was three quarters of the way through by this point! Both dishes came with separate veg, a great selection but looking a little microwaved. We could only manage to share a pud - we went for the creme brûlée which was good but not exceptional. The wait staff were mainly youngsters but they were friendly and efficient. The pub also has a nice garden, can imagine it would make a great place for a pub lunch when the summer eventually arrives.
