Their volume of old school…read morejazz and R&B is particularly refreshing in light of the "variety" that characterizes Miami radio. I'm especially a fan of their night show with Freddy Cruz Quiet Storm. Those ballads bring back fond memories of sitting with my high school sweetie by the Julia Tuttle Causeway umm enjoying the night view :) Still and all I'm holding back from 5 stars because of the occasional annoying lawyer line ad. But as far as local radio Hot 105 is about the best we get in Miami!

When I was in the 7th grade I'd stay up late at night and try my best to make a mix tape with all your love songs. In school we'd make dance routines to all your DJ Laz booty beats. My friends and I would find ourselves swearing that when we got older we would go to every party, concert and summer beach-house party you had. But sadly those days are gone. Every blue moon you'll surprise me and play a throwback song. Something they'll make me feel like I'm back in the good ole '90s when everything in the world was calm. If I turn you on now I know that most likely I'll hear the same song within the hour. Why must you play out songs??? Do we really need to hear Boom Boom Pow 4 times in an hour. Is Pitbull the only artist alive ? You once had a great mix of House and electronic but now all we get is a mash-up of Britney Spears "circus" and bob Sinclair " World hold on " What's a girl to do? I mean y100 is at least honest about their Mostly Pop genre I think it's time to come out the closet 96.5. Don't claim to be Miami's top Radio station if your going to play the same 39 sings you do every hour. The only thing that truly keeps me happy with this station is the Christmas song they play " Mi Barrito" god that song will never get old.

South Florida is jam packed with pop/Top 40 stations, and we needed some diversity on the radio with decent music! I love that The Shark plays alternative music and also up and coming indie music as well. I like that the DJs don't talk too much at any point in the day and you don't hear too many commercials either. I love listening to The Big Mistake with Ashley O and Spanish, they're both very funny and witty, but they also play a lot of music in the mornings at the same time. The station has a lot of consistent prize giveaways and I've also had the opportunity to take advantage of the Shark out of Water concerts as well for being part of the Chum Club. Be sure to turn on the Shark for a listen if you're in the South Florida area!

All of the djs are articulate as well as entertaining, and I like the morning show, "The Big Mistake," because they have a good amount of talk, humor, and music. (It seems that many of the other local morning shows are mostly talk with little, or no, music.) The Shark was also the main sponsor of The Riptide Musical Festival in early December. It was an incredible event with several stages, great activities, bars, and food....right on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Riptide's lineup was amazing: Panic at the Disco, 311, Live, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Everclear, Sublime with Rome; and then there were many new artists: Blue October, Robert Delong, Alice Merton, and more. It seems they are always promoting some concert or another and I hope they will be around for a long time! They fill a much needed space in the air waves of South Florida.

They were super cool and easy to chat with. Jingle Ball - which is Y100's annual concert is always slam packed with headliners and one of the bigger shows in South Florida every year. My go to in the car - Y100 get's a perfect 5. Plus, how cool that it's located in the BPB?!

Majic 102.7 plays '60s and '70s, which I'm sure is a progression of the times (since I think the oldies station in STL has also cut the '50s out of rotation). Whenever I tune in, I know I'm guaranteed to hear a tune or 2 that reminds me of my youth, and I love it. There's such a selection of music to choose from, I think I rarely hear the same songs played in any consecutive time period. They probably have enough material to play different songs non-stop for months on end. But they don't, so I fortunately get to hear all the songs that I know by heart, even if they pre-date my existence. Thanks Majic 102.7, for giving me the opportunity to reminisce!
