I called the main SSA number, and was offered several appointments within the next month at various local offices. A 9am in Hoboken was the first available. Always a good idea to get the first appointment if possible, in order to limit wait time. I was seen within about 10 minutes by Ms. Acosta. She was fantastic! Super nice and very helpful. She gathered the information she needed from me, then guided me through filling out the forms. When I made a mistake on one form, she was very patient with me and got me on the right track. Mission was accomplished, and Ms. Acosta made it as pleasant as could be. When I let Ms. Acosta's supervisor know how terrific she was, they both seemed very happy to hear the service was great.

It took me almost all day to take care of everything I needed to take care that day. Today (3/16/26) I tried calling the office and I was on hold for a long time and the called dropped so I called again and stayed on hold until thank God someone came to the phone line and helped me. The agent spoke with me patiently and provided the information that I needed. Couldn't resolve anything at that moment but will wait 3 days to check if my direct deposited went through. Not easy to be without a monthly income. Thanks Hoboken Social Secuirty Office. But before I go, I do want to tell you that there is a guard in this office that was very unfriendly and I didn't like that.

With only about 3 people on the line, I waited about 15 minutes for service. The saving grace here is that even though the staff is light, they work quickly. My attending clerk had the standard "I'm just here to punch the clock and leave" attitude that most desk postal workers have. I've been to other locations where clerks were downright rude and would take about around 15+ minutes for each customer, hung on up even the most basic requests. So, this was overall a neutral experience. The bottomline is, there are far better offices in town. But, if you want the convenience of using this neighborhood post office and can arrive during an off peak time, then you should be golden. If you decide to go here when it's busy, bring a seat, you'll need it!

The books offered are also wonderful, better selection than some of the other local libraries I've been to. I like that they have the flap books for little kids where the kids can open up a flap and something is revealed underneath. The books are taken very good care of. The library also boasts a really full event calendar, from story time to crafts to live music. I was thoroughly impressed that the live music performer goes an entire hour singing kids' songs, I'd have expected just 30mins! I took off one star because I've only used the outdoor book return dropoff box once when the library was closed, and 2 of 6 books I returned were never scanned in. I only found out when the library sent me a reminder email of the books I had to return still. I called the library, the librarian looked at the shelves and found the 2 books. She apologized and said I'm all set. I'm glad they found the books on the shelves because I'm not sure how long it would've taken to dispute that I in fact returned the books, but I was put off by the fact that the library wasn't careful with scanning all the books in. I recommend returning all books with a librarian so they scan the books in right away, rather than the outside book returns bin.
