We'd done Appleland before but Great Lakes is another area alternative with no fee for going into the orchard itself. The U-Pick apples are $1.25 a pound, where as the ever popular HoneyCrisp and our preferred Ambrosia are $1.95 a pound. Plus they have wagons so you can drag your apples or your friends around if walking gets too much for you. Feel like just snagging cheap apples? Great, all the variety is in store ready to be bagged at the same price. They have muffins, pie the usual fare but I am not a fan of their pie compared to Appleland one... or heck cheaper than both and equally delicious: Farmboy! But I did use my apples this year to make awesome crisp. Also Apple Sausage Stuffing, Apple Gravy, Apple Sauce.... and still using them up. All told I spend under $15 on farm fresh apples that are making my fall meals to die for! That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

But what was interesting as well was their selection of meats and fish including perch from the big old Great Lake, as well as some nice looking sausage that I'd love to try, but never went back before time was up. Two words: CHIP NUTS…read more Potato Chip coated peanuts are amazing. And they come in all kinds of delicious flavours. My personal fave is chill cheese. Bags are 300g and reasonably priced. They also have regular peanuts, flavoured ones and other snack nuts. You will not be disappointed. This is also the only place I can get those candy coated almonds they used to sell at Bud Gardens.

We were there from 11:30am to closing and still didn't see all as they kids were hard to pull away to explore more. The service was great, the staff were so pleasant and helpful. Pizza and ice cream were yummy! There are washrooms conveniently located throughout the park and they are so clean, well lit and very much appreciated. It was a fantastic day. We needed more time to do more and repeats. Will definately be going back again. I would like to add, please disregard Ted W comments. The farm is well taken care of, the staff is great, the splash pad was clean and we didn't see any unsafe areas for children.

But I really wanted to talk about the cheese curds. They have a whole variety of different flavours and seasonings on cheese curds. They are so yummy. They have a really nailed seasoned cards. Their natural curds are also really quite delicious. Excellent squeak. I was thoroughly impressed with the pleasant demeanour and kindness of the service that they provided. I met both the husband and wife and got to speak to them briefly. They are very committed to healthy and local farming. I really appreciated how they set up their booth at the festival. Everything was very tidy and well organized. And they were very knowledgeable. Right now it looks like their website is under construction. But I am going to try to figure out how to order some of these cheese curds directly to my house. Yum.
