Chintziest ice cream place I've ever been to! I don't recommend going. I got a 2 scoop on a waffle cone for over $9 and I was shocked when they handed it to me. It looked way smaller than a single scoop at any respectable ice cream shop. They charge you 75 cents for a cake cone and they have signs posted that if your kid drops their ice cream they will only give you a discount, not a replacement. Should be 1.5 stars. First time to OBX as a backup honeymoon and we are big ice cream people. We went to a nearby place and it was awful so looked for our next option and saw Weezys. We rushed over and arrived at 8:55 knowing they close at 9. My husband asked if we could get a couple cones quick to be polite and the two workers were extremely huffy and rude. I've worked in customer service and have been in their same spot and would never treat someone that way. It was the most uncomfortable ice cream experience we have had. Throwing the scoops around and what not. They had some unique Hershey's flavors but we are from PA so nothing new to us. I'd even say their freezers are slightly too cold so it made the ice cream not as creamy. We won't go again due to the service. I know it's off season but you're open until 9. We walked out at 8:59 and shouldn't have been treated that way. read more

She needs to switch places with the man that way she has no interaction with the customers besides handing them the ice cream. Took our family for ice cream tonight and as I waited I read the store policy's , one of which is that they will not replace a cone if ice cream falls to the floor. I turn to take my cone from the attendant and he is not wearing gloves handing me the cone I ordered and paid for just before he started scooping. I asked him about gloves and he looked dumbfounded and said they didn't have any. When he finally did wash his hands it was only after he had given everyone their ice cream. The cones each had one scoop and were not pressed down to prevent them from being licked off the cone. This review is for the DUCK LOCATION Weezy's Ice Cream, which has awful service and is unsafe but conveniently doesn't have their own Yelp or TripAdvisor page. Hopefully you can relay this message to the other location. 1) I will start with COVID-19 related issues as they are most relevant and important to many. First and foremost, DO NOT come here if you or someone close to you is immunocompromised or concerned about COVID. Despite their "masks required" sign, they allow anyone and everyone without masks into the store and happily serve them. Moreover, the way their store is set up makes it IMPOSSIBLE to social distance inside unless there are like 2 people inside. They've pushed their ice cream bar forward, squishing customers into a small space while giving employees (who aren't social distancing at all) extra space. It was also ridiculous that the old lady at the counter reprimanded a family for waiting outside the window and watching in for the ice cream when it was ready, when they were obviously outside because they were clearly uncomfortable with the 15+ people in the store, at least 4 of whom were NOT wearing masks and were being served anyways. 2) The old woman at the counter is extremely rude (see reprimanding example above) and the three high school aged girls working the ice cream are extremely unprofessional, shrieking and giggling instead of making people's ice cream orders. 3) The way the store is set up makes NO SENSE and causes back up of orders which translates into a very stuffed space, especially since no maximum occupancy is being enforced. Instead of ordering by the ice cream like EVERY OTHER ICE CREAM ESTABLISHMENT, you go to the cash register to order and pay, making the service SLOW and the inside are congested. 4) Finally, my SMALL scoop was larger than my friend's MEDIUM scoop. I ordered a single scoop of vanilla and she ordered two scoops of chocolate, but somehow mine ended up bigger. And she paid 3$ more. read more

The ice cream is decent, not overwhelmingly outstanding, but the place is definitely high tech with Apple Pay available, much better than Sunset Ice Cream and Coffee which takes only cash and still operates in the age of faxes. The portion size is small, like most of the ice cream places around OBX. Two scoops are equivalent to what you'd get for the size and price of one up north. If the portions are more generous, I would give them five stars. Choices are very limited when I visited, about 8-10, definitely not what you'd expect from a professional ice cream parlor. The place is extremely clean. There is an empty portion that seems to be waiting for tables and chairs. Servers REFUSED to wear their masks properly. The sign on the front door says "masks mandatory" yet of the three adolescent girls serving, only one was properly wearing a mask. The second wore the mask below her nose and the third WAS NOT WEARING HER MASK AT ALL. Her mask was on her neck as she reached her head into the freezer again and again. When confronted she moved her mask above her nose and promptly removed it once we left the store. Additionally there was no hand sanitizer provided. I would give this 0 stars if I could. read more

I worked at Weezy's ice cream and I can tell you there were some tricks pulled to give the least amount of ice cream possible to the customer. We were told to have the ice cream scoop sitting high on top of the cone to give the illusion there's more than there really is. I've been to other ice cream places around the area where the employees push the ice cream to the bottom of the cone.. and charge less. We also used a smaller scooper if the customer asks for 2 scoops, you honestly might even get less than what you would get for a single scoop. The manager was rude and would talk badly about customers once they left the building. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. read more
