If you have a landlord/dispute or rent stabilization case, don't hire this guy! I paid this guy…read morealmost $1,300 and he is the laziest shiftless lawyer I have every worked with. I booked a consultation and paid $90. He gives you a two hour window that he will call you with and not an exact time. When he finally did call, he was in his car, driving half paying attention. He has a good online presence and I already invested $90 so I decided to move forward with him a couple months after the consultation. He charges $1,200 for out of court negotiation. $4,500 if your landlord/tenant sues first and 10K to sue your landlord/tenant first Long story short. He makes excuses, has very little communication and there is almost a week between emails. I paid him $1,200 to review my documents and get back to me with the full intension of paying him the $4500 when my landlord tried to sue me because my landlord illegally deregulated my apartment from rent stabilization. I ended up hiring another lawyer, who I won't name on this review but he did what Ari could not do in 3 weeks in 1 hour. The other lawyer I spoke to kept me on hold, asked me questions and we sent documents back and forth over the line. He told me I had a good case and within a week, we were ready to file. When you send Ari a document, instead of responding immediately or asking a question. He waits a week, then asks a question and then it will take another week to hear from him and then he simply asks another question. Instead of anticipating an gathering all the things he needs up front. He plays the waiting game with you. He once told he would get back to me in a week. 9 days passed and I HAD TO REACHOUT to him. He said he had 'covid' and was behind. If he was so behind, why not be pro-active and reach out to your clients ahead of time. Seemed like a lie. I could go on with more stories and anecdotes but he doesn't know what he is doing. I paid out money to another lawyer and a consultant and they didn't need 3 weeks to tell me whether or not I had a good case.

The attorney said he was able to work on it even without the NJ bar. I was like okay since my case was very straight forward. After a month since we started the case, I haven't heard any progress and my ex was rushing me everyday. I decided to send Leon an email. After a few weeks past, I didn't hear back from him and then I called the office. The receptionist, who picked up my call, sounded clueless. She asked me to spell my name at least 5 times and I felt that she was very annoyed with my long last name. I asked her to let Leon know to reply my call or email. However, I never got the response. A week later, I decided to switch the attorney and then finally I heard back from Leon. And he added some statements in the drafted settlement document from the opponent attorney, which didn't apply anymore. It costed me almost $1000. I am very disappointed that a almost 5 star attorney on Yelp provided a 1 star service to me. The divorce process was already depressing and this didn't help at all. Please stay away from this place.

What really stood out to me at the beginning was getting a near-immediate response after I contacted her, followed by a phone call. Since things were very raw at the time, this was incredibly appreciated and made me feel heard from the start. In addition to being very empathetic, Tiffany told me the truth. I knew what to expect from the start, and she kept me in the loop as the case progressed. She asked me the right questions which provided insight into facts and issues where the law was broken that I didn't even realize. I could go on and on about how professionally the case was handled, but the most important thing is that Tiffany made me feel confident that I was right and that I was justified in my allegations. That will always be something that I'll remember about a situation that was scary and confusing. When we settled, I walked into the courtroom at peace and told my story. She was even so aware of my feelings that she calmed my nerves during the settlement conference with her witty and whip-smart personality. She helped me land on a number that was fair--and thrilled doesn't even describe the feeling that I felt when we settled. Young & Ma is superb, and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

I was referred to attorney Dan Brecher at Scarinci Hollenbeck through the New York City Bar Legal…read moreReferral Service, which advertised a $35 consultation. Unfortunately, my experience was very negative. During the consultation, Mr. Brecher reviewed a simple three-page agreement that I had provided in advance at his request. I reasonably understood that this review was included in the advertised $35 consultation. However, after I signed an engagement letter, I was later billed an additional full hour at his regular rate ($750) for reviewing the same document again--work that I did not request and that was not necessary for the limited task for which I retained him, namely assistance with drafting a Repayment Agreement. I only became aware of this charge when I received the final invoice after the matter had concluded. While the consultation fee was clearly advertised as $35, it was not disclosed that reviewing the same document immediately afterward would be billed separately at a full hourly rate. This experience reflects a broader lack of transparency regarding fees during the representation. Despite requesting periodic billing statements multiple times, I did not receive any until the end of the matter. As a result, I had no meaningful opportunity to monitor, question, or address charges as they were incurred. Several charges also appeared duplicative or unrelated to substantive legal work. For example, I was billed for a brief phone call that the attorney initiated after the matter had already concluded. The call did not involve legal advice or substantive work, and I initially understood it to be a routine courtesy or check-in until I later saw it listed on the invoice. The billed time also appeared to be nearly double the actual duration of the call. Based on my experience, I would not choose to retain this attorney again. I share this to help others make an informed decision.
