The Riesling is the best I've had and every opportunity I have to pick up a few bottles, I take. In the summer, their fruit wines make a great after-dinner treat...particularly the peach offering. I'm quite confident we'll be tasting plenty more of Helga May's offerings, for research purposes of course.

From the owner: Wir haben uns in unserem seit 1737 bestehenden Familien Weingut auf die Flaschenwein Vermarktung…read morevon Weißwein, Rotwein und Sekten spezialisiert. Vor allem Sorten wie Weißburgunder, Riesling oder Chardonnay machen uns viel Freude. Aber auch Trend Sorten wie der Sauvignon Blanc haben bei uns einen festen Platz im Segment. Dabei bieten wir sowohl gehaltreiche trockene als auch spritzig frische feinherbe Weine an. Für jeden Geschmack ist das Richtige dabei. Bei den Rotweinen vinifizieren wir beispielsweise die Sorten Spätburgunder, Merlot oder auch St. Laurent. Für uns ist der elegant feine Rotweintyp das Ziel. Die eigene Frucht der Rotweinsorte herauszuarbeiten steht dabei im Vordergrund. Der Einsatz von Holz, bzw. Barrique ist dabei nur unterstützend und nicht vordergründig. Neben unseren Weinen bieten wir auch tolle Geschenkideen oder selbstgemachten fertig abgefüllten Glühwein (nach Rezept der Seniorchefin).

One month later I have received a single call and transferred the money right after. One week after I have made a transfer, I have received a second invoice, this time from Kohl Rechtsanwälte, in Germany they call these companies Inkasso - they are legally allowed to charge you around 50% of the amount for the bother of writing you a legal reminder. I have politely informed the Kohl company that I have already payed the bill. They were extremely rude on the phone and threatened me I will regret it. They have disappeared for almost 1 year and today I have received a notification from my bank that they blocked my account and expect me to pay 288,23 eur within the next two weeks. Just for the information - the full amount of the order was 69,75 eur. I assume, those two companies are connected to each other and it looks like it is their way to get more business. Very sad. I have forwarded this case to my lawyer, however, it would take me ages until my bank account will be accessible again.

Like most days of our trip to Germany we found ourselves stopping in at a local grocer or…read moreconvenience store to snag some water for the day. On our last day, we stumbled across this little grocery store in the heart of Mainz and it was honestly one of the better ones we found! Like most European supermarkets it was small with winding aisles, but this one was super clean, easy to traverse, and well stocked. We took it all in and then concluded with purchasing some still water for the evening. The only reason it's four and not five stars is that like most places finding cold water was hard and it was unfortunately the same here. Totally a cultural thing, but I'd love the option for some chilled beverages.
