Nice menu of breakfast and snack items. Cozy atmosphere, but it can be hard to get a table at times. Most are small two person spots, often occupied by sole users. No complaints about the service. Order at the counter and your food is brought to you table. Cinnamon rolls are very good. Cheddar biscuit was a bit underwhelming. Not as cheddary as it looks and a bit too much pepper on the top. I absolutely judge a coffee shop by their effort at syrups. Any place can buy garbage Torani, or try to think they are elite with Monin....quality crafters take the time to make their syrups and leave the chemical preservatives out so the coffee can be the main character on stage. Well Red delivers a smooth iced coffee that is perfectly balanced. I'll have to come back to offer perspective on their espresso. If you're in a hurry and take it to go, you'll miss out on the atmosphere. The open floor plan is warmed by oversized furniture, complementary colors and soooo many books!! Having not been much of a caffeine person their other options were extremely limited and unappetizing, so I chose not to order as the baristas looked quite unpleased in my hesitance. Love this place! Although it can get packed, we haven't been where we couldnt find a seat somewhere. They hosted a wine tasting that was a book pairing--what a neat concept. Their espresso program is great. I've gotten a tasty latte each time and they make their syrups in house. They also have a long list of pastries--the chocolate chip cookie was huge and delicious, and don't sleep on the key lime bar when it's available. This is such a cozy and charming coffee shop that combines two of my favorite things, coffee and books! We spent the day in Auburn for my mom's birthday and decided to stop here before heading home and it ended up being my favorite stop of the day! My sister had to order two of the chai lattes because she loved it so much! My regular coffee latte with cinnamon was delicious and the handmade coffee mugs are a beautiful touch. The customer service was excellent! They were very personable and friendly and we felt comfortable and welcome. They had a good selection of books of various genres and a relaxed atmosphere with several people reading, studying, or chatting. They also offer a good selection of sweets and the black cocoa cake is a must-have if you love chocolate! If I lived in Auburn I would definitely be a regular customer here, but I will absolutely be stopping by again next time I'm in town. read more

The hidden diamond in Auburn! This place is a MUST GO if you're in Auburn and want to enjoy affordable quality coffee, buy or read a book, or just enjoy your time. It's family owned and the staff there make a concerted effort to learn and call everyone by name. The first time my wife and I went there, we really enjoyed it. A week later, we went again and the owner remembered us by name. Truly phenomenal customer service and connections. It's one of the busiest if not the busiest coffee shop in all of Auburn/Opelika, so seating it limited. We try to get there early enough to always have a spot to sit. The food is wonderful and you can tell the effort and quality that goes into it. I was astounded at the affordability of the drinks, considering many of the local coffee shops are ridiculously over-priced. For example, a delicious 16 ounce drip-coffee is under $3 and comes with a free refill. Their food items are equally as affordable, normally everything is under $5 and they offer rotating items like quiche, a variety of different creme brûlée, cheese cake, cookies, truffles, etc. The monkey-break is to die for. The reading material is outstanding ranging from children's books, to classic works, fiction/non-fiction, parenting, romance, humor, and philosophy. Some tend to be more left-leaning / liberal, but either way you can always find something good to resonate with. Pets are welcome (outside) and they do offer free water-bowls for them. Large groups can call in and reserve the group-table (I think it seats 8) for projects, book clubs, etc. My only complaint is that, while it is a nice place and intended primarily to read and enjoy coffee, many people do go there to socialize over coffee so conversations can be a little distracting (though this tends to be more outside than indoors). We haven't been for the evening wine (and beer) yet, but were told it's very popular and remains quite busy. Even in the summer, it's quite challenging to find seating, so in the Fall, it's likely going to be very selective. So if you can get there early (7am on week days, 8am on Saturday, 9am on Sunday) that's your best bet. My wife and I have been spending a couple hours several times a week here to read and enjoy our coffee and quiche, and we could not be happier. Though we are not the biggest fans of Alabama in general, we agreed that "Well Red" will be the one thing we miss the most. Truly a fantastic place to stay your day or relax. read more
