Nice renovated /expanded library in the community Plenty of quiet space areas, nice atmosphere, wonderful librarians, and beautiful touches of historic areas that are original to the library.

This is one of the best libraries East of the River! If you have kids this place is a must-see. They have tons of free Children's programs, broken down by age groups at times, at other times it's an age grouping of 3-5 year olds, kids under 6, 8-12 year olds, etc. the librarians are creative and passionate about what they do, and kids get a lot out of the experiences. Some classes require registration but there are a lot of "drop in" events, too, so if you find yourself looking for something to do with the kiddos check out their website, they probably have something going on! I also love the self-scan checkout and book return system.

3D printer at Welles Turner Library. $1.00 per Hour for usage.

We loved the children's area; there were Legos, mini playhouse, train set, toy kitchen, and computers.

I thought it was interesting that this library is located amongst the houses, for some people I'm sure they could walk here with their eyes closed. Right at the front of the library they have a hold box. I could be wrong with the name, but this is where they hold your book, and you could pick it up even when the library is closed. I walked inside, there's book sales and community events posted. I went to the computer to search where my book is located. According to my search result, I went to look under fiction. It wasn't there. There were other works by the same author. I went to the front desk to ask for assistance. The lady started walking towards a totally different direction. She went to look under Mysteries, I found it under New Releases. She explained that they're going through a new system, it might be difficult to find some materials. She was very helpful, despite me finding it. They also have a spiral staircase leading to the children's department. I typically love to explore the children's area, I was in a rush this time. There were some noisy kids having a fun time. I had a successful first time at the Cora J. Belden Library.

I stopped by the Raymond Library in East Hartford, since I was in the area. I wanted to pick up…read moresome new reading material for my self. This building is impressive, it looks like it might have been a museum in its old life. I walked inside, and this is where they have their new arrivals, as well as periodicals and newspapers. There are two comfy chairs in this area. There was a "respectful flag disposal" here. It's a nicer looking cardboard box, with a print of the American flag on it. This is the first time I've noticed this. I'm not sure if all libraries have them, but it makes sense. It's good to make others aware of proper ways to dispose of a flag. The computer area was pretty full of users. I couldn't find a place to sit, that's not by the computers. There was some beautiful artwork displayed, that was done by high school seniors. The books were spread out across two floors. The children's area had some clay work from elementary school on display as well as some other artwork. There were puzzles, games and a ton of books for the youngest readers. They even had some guide books for parents dealing with various difficulties in parenthood. Overall, this is a nice library with plenty to offer anyone in the community.
