The only High School on the Island, this is a good school with a good track record…read more Busses bring pupils from all over the island to the school which is fine in the summer, spring and autumn months but in winter some of the roads become impassable so getting to school may be difficult if not nigh imposable - good for the kids, bad for the parents!! Being based on an island encourages the school to participate and promote out door activities from sailing to golf. During the summer months it is not unusual to have classes outside, for example art classes on the beach. The school itself is modern, clean and the teachers are top notch.

Pupils are bussed to the school from all over the island. There's a good range of subject options available, and outdoor activities and other school events which allow pupils trip to the mainland to take part in authority-wide events and sports tournaments. The high school building is a new one, fairly recently opened and fit for purpose for the 21st century. There's a community wing too, so the school really does belong to the whole island.

Springside Primary School our local ,has recently been saved from closure in a multimedia campaign…read morefrom concerned parents,community members and local councillors.This award winning school was under threat of closure due to the council wishing to save money by amalgamating Springside and Dreghorn primary(next village 1.5 miles away). Campaigners enlisted the help of local radio to promote the cause and through various contacts we even managed to get TV coverage on BBC TV nationally.Local petitions were raised and several events took place to highlight the campaign.One of these events took the form of a diary room setup like from Big Brother giving individuals a chance to air their reasons why the school should not be closed.To add authenticity to this we obtained access to the actual Big Brother chair. The comments were videoed and put onto dvd and a copy given to every councillor who would be making the final decision.Not a bad effort from a wee village of around 1500 people.

Having had experience of other Nurseries with my son when he was younger as well as childminders, grasshoppers offers the best level of care. Staff are clearly experienced individuals who take pride in their work, I have also seen various members of the team being developed in their roles with training and various courses. Grasshoppers appears to invest in their staff and are continually looking at ways to improve taking on board feedback from parents. I have also had experience of things that I thought could have been done better and they have taken this onboard making the nessecary improvements. 10/10 for Grasshoppers I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for childcare in the ayrshire/kilmarnock area.

Finally he got me in to such high standard, I passed first time with him. I did have a few fails but that was with two other instructors. I can therefore recommend Driving Lessons Ayr / ADI Driving Instructor Training to anyone. Beginner or advanced driver. As far I know he trains instructors as well but this is not something I would consider doing. He is overall a very popular instructor here in Ayr, two of my friends from Belmont went with him and were very pleased as well. Thank you Gordon for your patience and for teaching me so much!!
