I don't often leave reviews (and this is my first non-restaurant review) but a 5 star review is well-deserved here. For some context, I stumbled across Ben after seeing a reddit post recommending prenup lawyers in CA and ended up hiring Ben to draft a prenup. He was fantastic and all his positive reviews are well-deserved - from the beginning, he was fantastic, patient, answered my questions clearly with excellent reasoning, responsive, and was a great person to interact with. I also wanted to add that I'm a lawyer myself, so have some extra insights which might help anyone reading this review - these will also indirectly address the two sole negative yelp reviews I saw. In my opinion, it can be really hard for regular people to find a great lawyer at an affordable price, and Ben is definitely that. My experience with Ben was that he really knew his stuff - I was doing my own separate research and reading relevant statutes/case law, plus carefully reviewing the contract of course, and everything he said was spot on. Unfortunately, you won't get that level of quality legal knowledge with every lawyer out there - and if you have a nuanced situation, random internet research won't be as helpful as a great lawyer who spends time researching and analyzing your specific situation. This leads me to another point: Ben struck me as the kind of lawyer who is willing to tell you things that you may not want to hear, and that is exactly the kind of lawyer you want. In my opinion, there are some lawyers out there that will tell their clients things to get more money, for example by leading their clients to believe they have a better case than they actually do to get more legal fees. My impression of Ben is that he's not like that, and that's why I have and will continue to recommend him to any of my friends that want a prenup or any of the services he offers (in fact, one friend also hired him for drafting their prenup as well). Benjamin Lee was a solid legal advisor to me. And now we are happy. My kids, my ex-wife and I... we are in a positive place now building our futures independently and collaboratively. The kids are growing up happy with health, confidence and laughter. Although tough, a divorce doesn't have to end ugly. It can result in a reconfigured relationship standing on foundation of collaboration, trust and respect. That is how my experience was, and I contribute a large portion of this positive outcome to Benjamin Lee. My divorce did not start all sunny though. My ex-wife's divorce attorney was rude and onerous. Her lawyer instigated more negative emotions between us and was divisive. I didn't know what to do and had to seek my own professional legal advice. I was blessed to have found Benjamin. Once he came in, he quickly and objectively assessed the situation and leveled the playing field. Here what I really liked about Benjamin as my legal attorney: 1. RESPONSIVE. Benjamin was very accessible with fast response time. This is not a common case with other attorneys. They can have you hanging, waiting, and guessing in anxiety. Ben was always very responsible even when he was traveling out of the country. I had multiple channels to get in touch with him and he responded always within 24 hours, and mostly much faster. 2. RESPONSIBLE and RELIABLE. His work was very solid. No sloppy guess works or vague advises. He kept his promises. He provided sound legal advice based on the law and based on real cases and precedence. There were no false promises or providing false hope. He was realistic, ethical and objective. 3. RESOLUTION-ORIENTED. He is an attorney that wants his clients' cases to "resolve." Some attorneys are very much interested in complicating the case and prolonging the case to increase billing hours and legal expenses. Benjamin doesn't play that game. He focuses on practical matters to resolve conflicts and pursues a win-win. 4. RESPECTFUL of LEGAL COST. He kept me updated on the legal cost so that there are no surprises. I really appreciated this about him. At one time, I was asking a bunch of unnecessary questions out of curiosity - and taking up a lot of his time. Although he was happy to answer all my email questions, he also advised that the retainer can be spent more towards resolving the case. It was wiser to have him spend hours constructing strategies and options for my case vs. answering my "curiosity" questions I can Google. He is fair, transparent, honest and respectful when it comes to legal fees. 5. AUTHENTIC and a GOOD PERSON. I found Benjamin to be very mission oriented and passionate about family law. This is reflected in his company (Wellness Divorce) website but I got to experience it first hand. He believes that a divorce doesn't have to be a "broken failure" or a destructive battle. Benjamin has the mature spirit that knows a well-managed divorce process can enable and facilitate happiness on stronger grounds. He cares about what he does. And that was very important to me. When I was looking for an attorney, I didn't know what to do and what I was doing. I heard back from many lawyers who wanted my "business" but really didn't care about the details or intentions. They over-promised results with false promises. I also didn't hear back from many legal firms because they smelled it wasn't going to be a high-cost $$ case. I reached out to Ben through a referral and he was super professional, patient and kind, I didn't expect that at all and it was a breath of fresh air. I called maybe about 10-15 diff lawyers and it was so hard to weed out who is in your best interests, and the worst part was that I was getting different answers depending on the time of day and who picked up the phone. I worked with Ben and his associates over many months trying to resolve my divorce, and after 5 months of negotiation (remember, this is the time of Covid!), the divorce is complete. I never felt that he took one side over the other, which made me feel comfortable working with him. Ben took input from both myself and my ex-spouse, and used this information to achieve the best possible outcome for both of us. My divorce across the state between Florida and California. I spoke to numerous attorneys and also the CA court website says I can divorce in CA but I have to divorce in Florida if I need alimony and distribution of assets/property, otherwise, CA doesn't have jurisdiction over assets and income if spouse has never stepped into CA. Mr. Lee and his Japanese speaking paralegal told me that CA has jurisdiction over them(not true) if I file here in CA and if My husband did not try to change the jurisdiction from CA to Florida(not true!). Charged $200 for consultation and asked me to pay for retainer $3500 ASAP to make it possible to divorce in CA while I paid and retained with Florida Attorney already. The reason I came to talked to Mr. Lee is because his Japanese paralegal texted me she wants to be my friend, came to my house Sunday 10:15 AM, she started to try brainwash me that Mr. Lee can make my divorce possible in CA because he is an international Attorney and know the tricks while other attorney doesn't know that CA can have jurisdiction over assets and income for alimony. Then, she took me to see Mr. Lee the same day, Sunday afternoon and kept try brainwash me. I almost believed it! They told me to send the form to my spouse by 24 hours process delivery immediately! They tried to screw my life by knowing. Very unethical behavior. Unacceptable. I printed out what CA court says about opposite from what Mr. Lee and paralegal says. Mr. Lee and Japanese speaking paralegal told me they will refund the fee but I haven't received yet till now. I submitted dispute to my credit card company. I obtained a proof of information controversial to Mr. LEE to submit to the credit card company and CA Barr if he didn't refund or dispute fail. I don't know who's idea- paralegal or attorney? They tried to steal my limited money by knowing I have only $4,200 - I run away from my spouse with nothing while My spouse has everything. P.S. I believe in Karma. read more
